Lady Gaga suffers from “chronic sadness”.

The ‘Poker Face’ singer struggles to cope with homesickness while out on the road but has now learned to accept her “darkness”.

She said, “The lowest point is loneliness, being on the road. I have a chronic sadness that recurs.

“The lowest point was in Australia in May. I was overwhelmingly sad, and I didn’t know why because I had all these things to be happy about.”

Despite her black moods, the singer says her emotional state inspired her to write her best ever material.

She added, “I went to the studio and played for hours and I wrote what is going to be the greatest record of my career, a beautiful song about my father.

“I remember watching the mascara tears flood the ivories and I thought, ‘It’s OK to be said.’ I’ve learned to love my darkness.”

Robert Pattinson believes the ‘Twilight’ movies are a metaphor for sexual abstinence.

The 23-year-old star, who plays vampire Edward Cullen in the saga, is unable to have a sexual relationship with a human because he fears that if he goes further than a kiss, his emotions and the power of his body may injure his beloved.

But the British actor thinks the abstinence makes the films even sexier, because the central characters are unable to do anything about their lust for one another.

He said, “The success of the ‘Twilight’ books comes from the fact that fans can lust after Edward and yet, certainly in the first book, there’s no actual sexual contact between him and the series heroine.

“‘Twilight’ is a big metaphor for sexual abstinence, and yet it’s erotic underneath. There are so many elements in the story which are sexy.”

The books which the films are based on were written by Stephanie Meyer, a Mormon who does not believe in sex before marriage.

The latest film in the series, ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’, has already taken over $230 million and has turned Robert, the leading man, into a global heartthrob.

Alec Baldwin will quit acting in 2012.

The ‘Hunt For Red October’ star plans to retire from the industry once his contract for hit US TV show ‘30 Rock’ expires as he no longer has the passion for it.

The 51-year-old actor said, “I don’t have any interest in acting anymore. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else.”

Alec – who is set to co-host next year’s Academy Awards with Steve Martin, also claims his movie career has been a flop because he hasn’t been a huge box-office success.

Alec, who has starred in ‘The Departed’ and ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ told Men’s Journal magazine, “I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of moviemaking is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that.”

Alec recently revealed he isn’t nervous about hosting the Academy Awards because he believes there are higher expectations on Steve, who has fronted the Oscars before.

He quipped, “It is all on Steve. Steve Martin has done this before, while for me it is the first time. All the pressure is on Steve Martin.”

Nicole Richie is to become a comedy star.

The socialite, who starred in hit reality show ‘The Simple Life’ with Paris Hilton, has teamed up with US TV network ABC to create a new comedy show, which she will also star in.

The mother-of-two said on her website, “I am so excited to announce that I am officially working on a television project. I am creating a half hour scripted comedy for ABC in which I will be starring in, as well as producing.”

“The comedy revolves around a young, modern and professional woman who must balance her business and family relationships. She must deal with, and navigate, the many ideas of what a woman’s role is: modern vs. traditional.”

Nicole, who recently announced she was putting herself on bedrest after being hospitalised with pneumonia – has been inspired by women from all different walks of life for the show.

She said, “Lately, I have been surrounded by many different women of all ages and walks of life. It amazes me to watch and observe how many different ideas there are about what a woman’s role should be in this era. I’ve taken these fascinating ideas, and compiled them into something that I think will be very special and funny! We’re still in the very early stages and I can’t wait to share more with you soon!”

Tareq and Michaele Salahi, the fame-whoring Real Housewives of DC couple who crowbarred their way into the national spotlight by crashing a White House state dinner, claim that they were invited to the event and that the whole debacle has been a nightmare for them.

In the video below, the Salahis deny that they were uninvited guests, annoyingly refusing to directly answer Matt Lauer’s pointed questions about who exactly invited them to the event. Lauer directly refutes their claim with a quote from Michele Jones:

“I did not state at any time, or imply that I had tickets for ANY portion of the evening’s events,” Jones said in a statement released by the White House late Monday. “I specifically stated that they did not have tickets and in fact that I did not have the authority to authorize attendance, admittance or access to any part of the evening’s activities. Even though I informed them of this, they still decided to come.”

The Salahis repeat over and over that they are “working closely with the Secret Service,” though why that would be necessary if they were invited guests remains unclear. Meryl Streep admits she’s past her “sell by date”.

The Oscar-winning actress can’t believe she’s still be offered roles in high-profile movies now she’s reached 60 as she knows Hollywood discriminates against older women.

She said, “It’s incredible – I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies. Bette Davis is rolling over in her grave.

“I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my ‘sell by date’. I remember saying to my husband Don when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”

Meryl – who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in ‘Sophie’s Choice’ and the Best Supporting Actress for ‘Kramer Vs Kramer’ – also says she’s given up worrying what people think of her.

She told Vanity Fair magazine, “I can’t remember the last time I really worried about being appealing. I think it was a really long time ago. It’s freeing as an actress, but whether a director likes it or not is a different thing. I remember [director and co-star] Albert Brooks saying to me in ‘Defending Your Life,’ ‘Could you just make it a little sweeter?’ And that’s been repeated by other people in the years since then.”

Solange Magnano, 38, died Sunday due to complications during a gluteoplasty, friends of the former beauty queen report.

Magnano underwent a gluteoplasty (also known as buttock implants) on Thursday, but complications arose when liquid injected during the procedure traveled to her lungs and brain. She suffered a pulmonary embolism after surgery, blocking blood flow to the lungs, and was rushed to a hospital, where she died.

Magnano leaves behind a husband, eight-year-old twins, and a new modeling agency called Actitud Models. Fashion designer and close friend of Magnano Roberto Piazza had this to say about his friend’s death:

“Solange was a girl who had everything. She lived the life of a goddess, she was the envy of everybody.

“Now she is dead because she wanted a slightly firmer behind.

“She died because of her obsession with beauty.”

With about 300 people present, Magnano was buried yesterday in her hometown of San Francisco in the province of Cordoba.

Katy Perry’s parents are urging Russell Brand to “go towards the light” and find God.

The pastor parents of the ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer recently met the British comedian, a former heroin addict and alcoholic, as well as a notorious womanizer, for the first time, and said they are willing to accept him despite his past.

Katy’s mother Mary Hudson said, “Russell must go towards the light and not toward the darkness. Only God can take the very worst person and turn them around for good.”

The long-haired funnyman also swapped books with Katy’s dad Keith, who gave him a copy of ‘The Cry’, his tome about helping people release the “desperate longing for God’s intervention in your life”.

Russell, 34, gave him a copy of his autobiography, ‘My Booky Wook’, which details his former life of drug binges and prostitutes.

Mary added to Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “You just have to see how the Lord’s will is done. I mean, how many times have your kids disappointed you so profoundly you wanted to get up from the chair and knock them out?

“There are parts of the Russell’s book where he is hungry for positive influences in his life.”

Keith added he felt Russell has a “spiritual hunger”.

Katy, Russell and her parents are presently holidaying in the ski resort of Ischgl in Austria, where she played at the resort’s opening concert.

At the concert she wore what she called her “sl**ty sexy Santa outfit” and dedicated a song to “all my ex-boyfriends” as Russell looked on from the concert’s sound booth. The pair then took to the slopes yesterday, November 30.

Russell has said he has “never felt more settled and happy” than he is in his relationship with Katy.

Kelly Osbourne is ready to enjoy “quality time” with fiance Luke Worrell.

The 25-year-old star is jetting off for a romantic holiday with the 19-year-old model, following her stint on hit US TV show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, in which she came third.

She told Closer magazine, “Luke and I are heading off to a beach for a sunshine holiday this week. He’s been working in London for the past couple of weeks and, with me being so busy with ‘Dancing with the Stars’, we’re in desperate need of some quality time. I can’t wait! ‘Exhausted’ doesn’t even begin to describe how I’m feeling. I’m not complaining – ‘DWTS’ has been an incredible journey – but I’d be lying if I said I’d be fine with another early morning rehearsal.”

During the final, Kelly took an embarrassing tumble, but insists it didn’t ruin her experience.

She said, “I was a bit disappointed, but I did my best. I’m thrilled to have made it as far as I did – I’ve never felt as good in my whole life.”

Donny Osmond was the winner of the series, impressing judges and the voting public with his Argentine tango, accompanied by professional dance partner Kym Johnson.

Keira Knightley has hinted her relationship with Rupert Friend is on the rocks.

The British actress, who is currently starring in the West End show ‘The Misanthrope’ where she portrays 22-year-old movie star Jennifer, has spoken about the similarities between her and her sexy on-stage persona, admitting they both have love life “problems”.

She said, “Do I recognize being an extremely well-known young actress? Yes. And she’s in the middle of a world full of people who are quite a bit older than her. She’s having a problem with her boyfriend. No comment.”

The 24-year-old beauty – who has been dating Rupert, 28, since 2005 when they met on the set of ‘Pride and Prejudice’- also admitted she doesn’t view fame in a positive way because the definition has changed so much.

She explained, “If I’d thought about what fame meant when I was younger, it probably would have been for your name to be respected for something you do well. I don’t know that that is any longer what fame means. I don’t see it in its modern-day connotations as a particularly positive thing.”
