Miley Cyrus’s new romance with Liam Hemsworth has left his ex-girlfriend devastated

miley-cyrus-liam-hemsworth

Miley Cyrus – who has been dating former ‘Neighbours’ actor Liam Hemswort since they grew close on the set of their new movie ‘The Last Song’ – has left Australian student Laura Griffin heartbroken by taking her “boyfriend and best friend”.

The 19 year old wrote on her Facebook web page: “Liam and I have been inseparable since school. But it’s Miley Cyrus. How can I compete?”

Laura blamed the ‘Hannah Montana’ actress for the breakdown of her relationship with Liam and said the pair would still be together if it wasn’t for Miley.

She told Australia’s Woman’s Day magazine: “He was my boyfriend and my best friend. There is no other reason why we would have broken up.”

The co-stars relationship came to light when they were spotted kissing on the set of their film.

Actor Alex Emanuel said: “Miley jumped into his arms and threw her arms around his neck and kissed him and leaned back and he was dipping her. It was like a scene out of an old movie where the guy’s getting on a train and they’re saying their goodbyes.”

Last month, Miley was locked in a bitter war of words with her ex-boyfriend Justin Gaston.

The singer-and-actress – who split from the underwear model in June after a year of dating – traded insults with him through cryptic messages on Twitter.

Justin wrote: “People mistake stupidity for bravery way too easily.”

Miley quickly replied: “Yeah. I love when people mistake bravery with writing a few stupid tweets trying to make it seem like they don’t care. You’re afraid to love.”

Earlier this summer, the Miley was also romantically linked to 22-year-old Steve Rushton, a former member of pop band Son Of Dork.

Sylvester Stallone is to star in another ‘Rambo’ movie

rambo

63-year-old Sylvester Stallone is set to reprise his role as Vietnam veteran John Rambo for the fifth time next year in a film which will see his character battling drug and people traffickers on the US-Mexico border.

‘Rambo’, which was released in 2008, had initially been billed as the final instalment in the series.

A source said: “The character obviously fascinates Sylvester and he feels there’s more life in him yet.

“This time Rambo will be taking on drug lords and human traffickers after the kidnap of a young girl. Like all the previous films it’s bound to be very violent but the character always had big box-office appeal.”

Although the actor – who first played John Rambo in 1982’s ‘First Blood’ – is keen to begin production on the movie, he first faces a battle to get in shape.

The source added: “Sylvester really had to push himself to get in shape for the last film and knows he’ll have to do that again for the next movie. It doesn’t get any easier, the older he gets.”

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo back together

nick-lachey-vanessa

Nick Lachey was spotted passionately kissing Vanessa Minnillo – who he split from June, after dating for around three years – in Los Angeles’ hotspot Dime over the weekend.

An onlooker told website RadarOnline: “They were making-out in one of the booths and seemed totally into one another.

“They were having a great time and definitely appear to be back on. They didn’t care who saw them.”

The pair arrived at the nightclub with friends, but quickly became engrossed in each other.

They did break away from their steamy smooching to spend time with their pals, with 28-year-old Vanessa taking to the dance floor.

Nick, 35, chatted to friends while Vanessa danced, but couldn’t help checking her out from a distance.

Nick and Vanessa “amicably” split after growing apart, with friends claiming it was right for them to call time on their relationship.

In 2007, it was rumoured the pair had tied the knot in a secret ceremony in the Bahamas, but Vanessa quickly quashed the claims insisting she wasn’t ready for that level of commitment.

She said: “We appreciate the days. I’m not going to put a time on things and say I’m going to do this by this time tomorrow. We are happy today - no pressure for tomorrow. When things fit into place and you know they’re right, they’re right.”

Renee Zellweger has been in a car crash

Renee Zellweger was involved in an accident in Beverly Hills yesterday (August 31), but was uninjured in the collision.

Police Lieutenant Tony Lee confirmed: “A green Ford Explorer made an illegal U-turn in front of her silver Mercedes. Ms. Zellweger was not injured, the damage to her car was very minor. She was very polite and sincere.”

The unnamed driver was attempting to leave a parking space when the incident took place, and swapped details with Renee shortly afterwards.

Lee explained: “The incident will be handled between their insurance companies.

“Ms. Zellweger requested her car be towed from the scene, and also requested that officers call her a cab.”

Renee’s spokesperson has not issued a statement regarding the accident.

The 40-year-old actress is believed to be dating Bradley Cooper, after the pair were seen enjoying several intimate dates in Barcelona, Spain.

However, the actress is staying tight-lipped about the romance, saying: “I won’t talk about it. It leads to nowhere good.”

Sandra Bullock wishes she had embraced her lisp

sandra-bullock

Sandra Bullock is angry “society” forced her to correct her speech impediment when she was a child instead of accepting that “flaws” make people “special”.

The 45-year-old star explained: “When I was eight and had my speech impediment I wish someone had said to me, ‘Don’t change. Be who you are.’

“But society is really strong in their opinions. I had a lisp that I had to get rid of, and I had to have speech therapy. I just think, ‘Why? Why did I need to get rid of a lisp?’ It’s that whole, ‘What is normal?’ thing. Why can’t we embrace people as they are?

“I wish I had realised that the things I thought were weaknesses and flaws were just me. They are unique traits that make special human beings.”

Sandra also blames sexism for making women feel bad about their bodies and personalities. She said: “Why is it that young boys and men are unique and eccentric and are mavericks when they’re different, but women are odd when we are eccentric or different? It’s just not fair.”

Whitney Houston does short Central Park set

whitney-houston-central-park

Whitney Houston took the stage for a short four song set in Central Park today.

Houston was taping the performance for tomorrow’s Good Morning America. Fans queued for one of 2,000 seats, and seemed to be pleased even though Houston reportedly avoided high notes and blamed a cracking voice on an Oprah interview yesterday.

Houston started her set with her new single “Million Dollar Bill,” and included “I’m Every Woman,” “My Love Is Your Love,” and “I Look To You,” which she dedicated to her mother Cissy, backstage. During the show, she took a break to interview with GMA hosts Robin Roberts and Diane Sawyer.

The crowd was reportedly pleased with the performance, and Whitney was grateful:

She ended the number by thanking the crowd profusely for coming. “God bless you,” she said repeatedly. “You make me feel so good.”

Discrimination advocate Carrie Prejean sues for… discrimination?

carrie-prejean1

Carrie Prejean, who shot to fame for her advocacy of “opposite marriage,” is suing Miss USA officials for libel, slander and religious discrimination with claims they asked her to “stop talking about God” before she even made her offensive statements regarding gay marriage.

Prejean was fired in June because, as pageant officials said, she missed several contractually obligated appearances. But Prejean’s lawyer, Chuck LiMandri, believes that Prejean was actually sacked for her opinions on same-sex marriage and general devotion to her religious beliefs. Pageant director Keith Lewis and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler are named in the suit, which alleges that not only did Prejean not skip contractual obligations, but that Lewis and Moakler improperly revealed Miss USA’s financing of Prejean’s breast implants. (Does that make anyone else think of Silvio from The Sopranos and Tracy the stripper’s teeth?)

The suit claims that Prejean suffered stress and anxiety after being fired, and that she has lost work. She’s also suing pageant publicist Roger Neal, and claims that pageant officials defamed her on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. A lawyer for Moakler says the suit is without merit:

“More importantly, as everyone who watched or read her public statements is well aware, Ms. Prejean’s unfortunate and bigoted statements are responsible for any public humiliation or damages to her reputation that she has claimed to have suffered,” Avanzado wrote. ”Ms. Moakler strenuously denies that she did anything wrong and looks forward to proving that in a court of law.”

While discrimination is never a good or positive thing, it seems apparent that Prejean’s views precipitated her public perception, and not any nefarious collusion by pageant officials.

Marvel and Disney Together Is a Bit Weird

mickey-mouse

By way of introduction, Marvel is now owned by Disney.  Yes, as of yesterday, the decades-long king of children’s entertainment, the reinventor of fairy tales, and clearing house for all things Mouse has ownership of one of the leading comic entertainment enterprises that is not necessarily known for being child-friendly.

I find this a bit weird.

Marvel’s cornerstones over the last seven decades have been Spiderman, The X-Men, The Hulk, Captain America, and a handful of other big-name titles, most of which have either already seen the silver screen or are slated to in the coming years.  In fact, Marvel proved in 2000 that a comicbook-based movie could be not only highly successful but quality entertainment as well, arguably starting the the modern age of book-to-screen transfers that has produced gems like The Dark Knight along with utter abominations such as Punisher: War Zone.

But for Disney to purchase Marvel is a decision that makes me curious:  besides the obvious financial benefits of merging two of the most successful entertainment operations of all time, what motivations could the Head Mousekeeter have?  Disney’s productions, like Cinderella, The Lion King, and Bolt, are very different from the graphic and dark nature Marvel usually favors.

To be fair, a few of Disney’s arms produce slightly less G-rated material, such as Pixar’s Wall-E or ABC’s Lost, but even then the themes, or visuals, don’t approach the supreme violence of Wolverine, the adult lifestyle themes of Spiderman, or even the complex continuity of the Marvel Universe.  So it makes sense that Disney has announced no intentions, for the foreseeable future, of influencing the production staff of Marvel, or even of disrupting the movies-in-progress.

This is good news, so long as they keep their promises – a cheery, joke-telling, lighthearted Logan would be entirely more disturbing than his modern depressive, angry, violent self.  Perhaps Disney is truly interested in simply the financial benefits of owning the massively successful enterprise and will truly leave it to operate on its own, much as they have with Pixar.

Or maybe Disney is curious about turning Marvel’s creative talents inward to their own core cast of characters, in order to produce more adult-themed versions of popular titles.

Now that I can get behind.

Every wondered what the Beatle’s top selling songs were?

beatles_revolver

Ah the Beatles, I can still remember seeing Help in the movie theater when it was first shown and it would have been a lot of fun except for all the silly girls screaming all over the place. The band has been a icon of our society and the music we listen to and even though there music has yet to make it into the digital world but that is about to change with the upcoming release of The Beatles: Rock Band game. Of course with the Sept. 9 Apple conference there are also the never ending rumors that The Beatles might finally be coming to iTunes.

So it is interesting in light of this that The Official Chart Company – who puts together the weekly Top 40 in England – has come up with a list of 30 of the band’s top selling songs. There will probably be a few surprises in this list for some people.

1 She Loves You
2 I Want To Hold Your Hand

5 Day Tripper/We Can Work it Out
6 Hey Jude

Chris Brown still loves Rihanna

chris-brown-is-a-dick

In his first interview since he assaulted the ‘Umbrella’ singer in February, Chris Brown admits he still has feelings for his former girlfriend and is certain they’ll always be “friends”.

The 20-year-old star told US talk show host Larry King: “I never fell out of love with her. When I look at that police photo of her injuries now, I’m just like wow. I can’t believe that actually happened.

“I wish I could have changed that night. I just need to prove to people I can be a role model. That’s not who I am as a person, and that’s not who I promise I want to be.

“I definitely would be affected if she decided to date someone else, but at the end of the day, I mean, we’re not together, so, if she’s happy, I’m cool. We’ll always be friends.”

Chris attacked Rihanna in his car as they left a pre-Grammy Awards party, repeatedly punching her in the face and biting her arm several times.

He later pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to six months of community service, 12 months of domestic violence counselling and five years probation.

The judge also issued a restraining order which requires him to stay at least 100 yards from Rihanna for five years.

In the TV interview – which will air in the US tomorrow night (02.09.09) – Chris states he thinks his punishment is fair, adding: “Everything comes with consequences. They want me to pick up trash remove graffiti. I’m a hard worker. It’s something I’m willing to do.”

Chris’ mother Joyce Hawkins sat next to her son throughout the interview, describing him as a “non-violent” person and discusses the abuse she suffered at the hands of Chris’ father.
