YouTube, always on the look-out for ways to solidify its leadership in video and increase its revenue has been in negotiations with the major movie studios to start streaming movies on a rental basis. Granted there are already some full length movies available on the service but they are generally lesser known movies or indie films looking for exposure.

This latest move is seen as a way to increase their revenue as well as one of its first moves towards charging for content instead of going with the typical ad supported model. At this point YouTube is in discussions with: Lions Gate, Sony, and Warner Bros. about including their movies in YouTube’s site. Additionally part of the talks include making them available on the same day the the movie’s DVD comes out.

Many of the details involved with the ongoing discussions are still in a state of flux. Included is whether or not at some point users will be able to download the movies. The figure being tossed around for the rental is $3.99 with the possibility of the traditional ad supported model being used for some of the movies. As it is the movie studios already get a 70% share of revenue generated by movies already on the site and the word is that this would be the same for the new movies being streamed.

In addition the studios would be guaranteed a minimum fee of just under $3.00 per title viewed. The thinking behind this is that since it is a flat fee the studios would get regardless it give YouTube some wiggle room to offer special deals.

At this point 10,000 Google employees are set to begin testing the service at some point after September, which was the original date for the internal testing launch; but that has been set back as negotiations drag on.

20-year-old Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe sno longer socializes with the rest of the ‘Harry Potter’ cast and crew because he wants to carve out a career as a respected actor.

He said: “I used to play a lot of pranks in the past but I want to be a more mature, serious actor now.

“I don’t get involved with drinking or partying with the cast anymore.”

The actor also blasted stars who are only interested in fame, insisting he hates being “a celebrity”.

He is quoted by Britain’s Daily Star newspaper as saying: “I hate celebrity culture but I’m unavoidably part of it. These people are celebrities as a by-product of what they do.

“People read every little thing about Peter Andre and Jordan and I couldn’t care less.

“They don’t want to work, have no interests, no passions, nothing and yet they seem to be held up on pedestals.

“I don’t think they should be trying to push themselves onto us. It does annoy me of course, but I’m part of it.”

Daniel’s serious attitude appears to be in contrast to his ‘Harry Potter’ co-star Rupert Grint.

Rupert has been spotted at several UK music festivals this summer and makes no secret of his love of wild nights out.

He recently said: “When I’m drunk I like to cause mischief. I’ll steal props like the broomsticks from the ‘Harry Potter’ set and bring them out to the pub for comedy value. It seems funny at the time. Trouble is I usually get too trashed to remember what happened the next day.”

Late pop icon Michael Jackson asked his friend and dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein – who has claimed he could be the father of Michael’s eldest kids Prince Michael I, 12, and 11-year-old Paris – to ensure his children had “normal” upbringings if he ever died.

Arnold’s lawyer Mark Kaplan said: “Michael had asked Dr. Klein over the course of their friendship that if something were to happen to him while his children were still minors that Dr. Klein, as a friend, would do what he could do to protect the children from living the life of an entertainer. That was to have as normal a life as possible.

“My understanding is that he regretted he didn’t have a chance to be just a normal child not in the spotlight… all those normal aspects of life growing up that I think Michael greatly missed and didn’t have the opportunity to experience.”

Michael – who also had seven-year-old son Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket’ – began performing alongside his brothers Marlon, Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine aged five.

Mark also revealed Arnold has no plans to take a DNA test to prove his paternity, although he would be willing to do so should the children ever require it.

He explained to ‘E! News’: “The court certainly would not order a DNA test after the death of the conclusively presumed biological parent.

“I think that if, at some point in time, the minor children reach their majority, which they will, that will be a decision I would assume they alone would make.

“Whether he is or he isn’t, it’s not going to make him love these children any more or less than if somebody else were the source. In the past there was a very close, loving relationship. I think they referred to him as Uncle Arnold.”

It was recently claimed actor Macaulay Culkin is the biological father of ‘Blanket’, although his spokeswoman has called the reports “too preposterous to even acknowledge”.

Meanwhile, Michael’s death certificate has been altered in light of the coroner’s ruling his death was homicide.

Gossip website TMZ reports: “It has been amended - now listing his fatal injury as ‘intravenous injection by another’.”

The coroner found Michael passed away aged 50 after suffering a cardiac arrest due to “acute Propofol intoxication”.

Propofol is a powerful anaesthetic used to put surgery patients to sleep in hospital.

Halle Berry is said to be three months along with her second child with her model partner Gabriel Aubry - with who she already has a 17-month-old daughter, Nahla.

A source said: “Halle is overjoyed. She’s just ecstatic to be pregnant again. She wasn’t sure if she’d have another baby, so she’s very happy!”

Halle struggled to conceive Nahla – she took over 30 pregnancy tests before one confirmed she was to become a mother - and it is believed she underwent artificial insemination to get pregnant this time

The source added to Life and Style Weekly magazine: “The first time, she eventually conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF). This time, the baby was conceived through artificial insemination.”

When pregnant with Nahla, Halle admitted she and Gabriel were keen to have at least two children.

She said: “We always talked about having two. Whether or not we’ll actually make that happen is left to be seen, but that would be our intent. That’s for sure.”

Halle’s representative is yet to comment on the reports.

The actress is not the only celebrity who is expanding her brood.

Mark Wahlberg is believed to be becoming a father again after his wife Rhea Durham – with who he already has three kids – was spotted with an apparent baby bump.

Mark has previously admitted he would like a large family, saying: “When the kids are good, we want eight or nine!”

Last weekend, Paris Jackson had a girls’ day out with grandma Katherine in Las Vegas.

In addition to a shopping spree, Little Miss Jackson went with her grandma for what is, by some accounts, her first haircut. Not necessarily remarkable, in and of itself, but the Daily Mail reported that after the trim, a “minder” gathered up and secured Paris’s shorn hair. Speculation is that the Jackson corporation family wants to avoid DNA testing.

Commenters posited that in order to DNA test, the root of the hair is needed. However, and sadly so, that doesn’t preclude the fact that anyone and everyone who could would probably seize upon the poor child’s cut hair to sell or at least attempt to test. And the three kids are getting old enough that reports questioning their biological parentage could be overheard. Considering the sheltered nature of their upbringing and recent devastating and traumatic loss of the only parent they knew, such speculation could really emotionally harm them. (Remember the girl’s heart-rending speech at her father’s very public funeral?)

A local TV reporter also being serviced in the salon was reported as saying:

‘Can you imagine the value of Paris’s hair? DNA - the truth, finally.’

Lily Allen cried throughout a concert in Helsinki, Finland, last month, because she was in so much pain after tripping over during an evening out.

The 24-year-old star said: “It really was the most painful thing ever. It was really horrible, because I had one of my security guys with me, and he said he turned around and just saw these two feet sticking out of the floor, in the air.

“You know when you fall over your natural reaction is to get straight back up again? But I was in so much pain I thought I was paralysed or something. I mean, I really thought that I was going to have to have my legs cut off.”

Lily fell while watching two DJ friends working. She was “crouching” behind the decks so other partygoers wouldn’t see she was there when she slipped and fell backwards off the stage.

She explained to Absolute Radio’s Geoff Lloyd: “They basically gave me what I can describe as like an epidural, and yes, it numbed from my knees to my lower back to get through this show.

“But then half-way through the performance the thing started running out and I just burst into tears on stage. It was so horrible. I was sobbing real toddler tears.”

Heidi Klum has teamed up with renowned photographer Rankin for the new tome, titled ‘Rankin’s Heidilicious’.

She explained: “It’s very naughty. I’ve been shooting with Rankin, for seven years and working with him is fun because he always makes me look different.

“He always gets me to take my clothes off for some reason. We’ll do some job and then he’ll say, ‘Why don’t we shoot some more things?’ and I’ll wind up without anything on.”

Heidi – who is currently pregnant and already raises three children with her musician husband Seal – has also spoken about the new Barbie doll which she has inspired.

The 36-year-old star was delighted to be offered the chance to be immortalised as part of the company’s Blonde Ambition Collection as it gave her the chance to right alter something which has always annoyed her.

She explained to Los Angeles Confidential magazine: “They said, ‘We want you to be part of this.’ And I thought, ‘Wow!’ Growing up with Barbie, it was a dream to get my own. I got to go to Mattel and look through the heads and hair and outfits.

“I wanted it to be my daughter’s favourite, so I’m wearing the glitziest pink mini dress in the world. And it always bothered me that Barbie was naked, so mine has on this cute pink bra and panties”

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly considering an offer of $900,000 to bare all for the adult publication, after initially rejecting a previous offer of $500,000 from the magazine.

A source told Australia’s The Day newspaper: “Playboy has been asking her for years, but it’s only now she’s excited about doing it.”

In addition to the naked shoot, Lindsay – who is dating DJ Samantha Ronson – has other ventures in the pipeline.

The 23-year-old star wants to take a break from acting to try her hand behind the camera.

She said: “I’ve been creating a bunch of shows that I’ve written treatments for and that I’m going to be producing - and that’s more interesting to me.”

However, Lindsay – who has previously had a guest role in US TV show ‘Ugly Betty’ – does have her eye on an acting role that would see her reunite with ‘Mean Girls’ actress-and-writer Tina Fey.

DJ AM – whose body was discovered in his New York apartment on Friday (28.08.09) – had apparently taken the painkillers in quick succession, sparking speculation he committed suicide.

A law enforcement source told People magazine: “He wanted to die. He was going unconscious when he took the last one. He didn’t even swallow it.”

A crack pipe and some of the illegal drug – which DJ AM had previously battled an addiction to – was also found near his body.

The musician, real name Adam Goldstein, was prescribed Xanax and benzodiazepines to help him deal with post-traumatic stress after surviving a plane crash last year.

It has been claimed he grew dependent on the drugs, causing him to relapse.

DJ AM has admitted to friends he was struggling with substance abuse, and agreed to get treatment shortly before he died.

His representative confirmed: “As soon as his friends, representation and his AA sponsor learned that he relapsed, which was only a couple days before he passed away, they sprung into action to try and get him to agree to go to rehab.”

When police arrived at the apartment they found a mirror “propped against the outside”, which they moved.

Another mirror was resting on the bedroom door, which shattered as officers gained entry.

The source said: “They pushed it open and it broke. I think Goldstein smoked a lot of crack, barricaded the doors and killed himself.”

A Valentine’s Day card from the DJ’s girlfriend, model Hayley Wood, was also found in the room, along with several photos of the couple.

He and Hayley are believed to have recently split leading to him becoming depressed, but she has refuted the claims.

She said: “Any indication that this horribly tragic accident happened because of a rumoured break-up is not only untrue but disgusting. We were very much together at the time of his passing, and I love him very much.”

A private memorial for the DJ is to be held tomorrow (03.09.09) at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Palladium.

In reference to the musician’s battle with substance abuse, the invite to the ceremony states: “The format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting. Adam’s friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of his life are welcome. We ask only that everyone adhere to the tradition of anonymity and let what they hear there, and who they see there, stay there.”

Please Don’t Leave Me singer Pink has an infestation of the wasps in her backyard, but doesn’t want to call out an exterminator to kill them.

She wrote on her Twitter page: “Wasps nests are invading my backyard!!! Is there a way to not kill them? Maybe get a wasp interpreter to kindly ask them to leave?!”

To help her forget about her wasp worries, Pink – who this year reunited with her husband, motocross racer Carey Hart - has been cooking soup.

She revealed: “Just made homemade minestrone soup from scratch. It’s amazing, not as good as Beppi’s in Sydney though. I’m not Sicilian. Ingredients on request: veg’ stock, carrots, celery, spinach, black beans, parsley, basil, bay leaves, onion, garlic, cabbage, tomatoes, sage, thyme and pasta.”

Pink isn’t the only celebrity being plagued by an unwanted pest.
