London, England (CNS) – After over 100,000 votes from UK fans, Beyonce was voted the World’s Greatest Pop Star as presented by Rimmel London. The result was revealed in front of the live audience at the T4’s Stars of 2009 taping at London’s Earls Court.

A special tribute was assembled to honor Beyonce, who came ahead of other pop icons like Britney Spears, who earned second place. In third was rapper Eminem, followed by Pink, and Madonna rounding out the top 5.

Also in the top 10 are another group of “Circus” crooners Take That, followed by former Take That band member Robbie Williams. Kylie Minogue, Justin Timberlake and Girls Aloud close the top 10.

David Hasselhoff has been released from hospital.

The former ‘Baywatch’ star, who has a history of alcoholism, was admitted to Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Friday, November 27, after allegedly suffering a seizure at his California home.

He was then treated for two days, before being released.

Hasselhoff’s lawyer Mel Goldsman said, “David is home now and he’s fine.”

Meanwhile, the 57-year-old actor’s ex-wife Pamela Bach was arrested on Saturday night, November 11, on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).

Bach, who has two teenage daughters, Taylor and Hayley, with the former ‘Knight Rider’ actor, was taken into custody before being released yesterday, November 29.

Her publicist said, “There was no bail. She is fine. She was picked up and driven home by a friend. She will deal with this.”

Last March, Bach was arrested for a felony DUI in Los Angeles.

Katie Holmes wants Tom Cruise to become a TV talent show judge.

Choreographer Mary Murphy recently revealed she would love to see the ‘Valkyrie’ star join her on the panel of US dance contest ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and the actor’s wife, who dazzled viewers with a Judy Garland-inspired routine on a special edition of the programme earlier this year, thinks he would be the perfect person to judge the contestants.

Speaking at the Dizzy Feet Foundation gala at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood, she said, “He would be great. He really would.”

While Katie is keen for Tom to make an appearance on the programme, she is unsure if she would accept any offers to make a return.

When asked about the possibility of appearing again, Katie said, “I don’t know. I don’t know, but it was a great time.”

Despite the ‘Mad Money’ star’s comments, Mary admitted she has so far been unable to approach Tom about appearing.

She said, “I’m going to try. If I can just slide my way in there, I will.”

Katie’s appearance on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ earlier this year was to launch The Dizzy Feet Foundation, which aims to support, improve and increase access to dance education.

Megan Fox bought her boyfriend a car from eBay.

The ‘Jennifer’s Body’ actress was searching the auction website with lover Brian Austin Green when she came across the classic red 1966 Mustang Fastback at a bargain price, although the vehicle needed a lot of repairs.

She said, “We were going through cars on eBay and I found one in really good condition that was beautiful and for a good price.”

The 23-year-old actress also revealed her mother banned her from learning to drive until she was almost 18 because she used to sneak out of home so often, but that didn’t stop her from driving.

She added to US TV talk show host Jay Leno, “I used to steal my mom’s car all the time when I was like 14 and 15 right before I got my licence.

“She used to drive a teal Kia and I would steal it and sneak over to my boyfriend’s house. She didn’t let me get my license until I was almost 18 because she thought I would never come back once I had it.

“I was grounded constantly. She would put me in my room and then I would climb out the second-story window.”

Kylie Minogue is working on new tracks with British producer Taio Cruz.

‘Break Your Heart’ hitmaker Taio has even revised his signature sound so he can take the Australian singer in an entirely new direction.

He said, “I’ve done a few tracks with Kylie which sound amazing and very dancey, but that’s because most things right now are – I’m making it very current.”

According to Taio, the songs sound very different to his own records and the compositions he has written for other artists, including rapper Tinchy Stryder and Cheryl Cole.

Taio, 24, added to Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, “I have a certain style that I do in terms of songwriting, it’s there on Tinchy Styder and it’s there on ‘Break Your Heart’ and on the new Cheryl record too.

“But I’m stopping that now because too many people recognize it.”

As well as Kylie, Taio has also recently been working with guitar-based pop group McFly on revolutionizing their sound.

He revealed, “I was in the studio with them last week and they play their instruments very well. They are really talented and it was easy to come up with a song together.”

Peter Andre has agreed to speak to his estranged ex-wife Katie Price.

The ‘Behind Closed Doors’ singer has only spoken to the glamour model irregularly since their divorce in September but he is now ready to have regular contact with her about their children.

However, Katie – who recently quit the reality TV show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!’ after only eight days – has been hatching a plan to win back her ex-husband in what she has dubbed ‘Project Pete’.

A source told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper, “Kate is desperate to get Pete back and her jungle appearance was all part of her game plan.

“She’s finally realized what she’s lost and will try anything to claw her way back into his heart. She knows she went too far after splitting from Pete.”

Katie, who returned from Australia, where the reality show is filmed, on Saturday November 11, has been in emotional turmoil about the split from Peter, and is now reportedly dreading spending Christmas alone after dumping her cage-fighter lover Alex Reid.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, “Katie feels she has nothing to look forward to.”

Shakira thought her parents were “the most incompetent business people in the world” when she was eight.

The ‘She Wolf’ singer said she was upset and frightened when her father, a jeweler, went bankrupt and had to sell most of the family possessions when she was a child.

The experience did, however, lead them give her a lesson she has never forgot about true poverty.

Shakira, 32, said, “I couldn’t believe my parents! I thought they were the most incompetent business people in the world! And I was so upset.

“My dad and my mom took me to the park that day, where all the kids who were orphans are sniffing glue to deal with the tragedy of their own lives and hunger and the solitude of their lives.

“Little kids, like my age, sniffing glue and barefoot. They just wanted to show me another reality that was much worse than mine. Those images of those kids left a huge impression.”

Shakira, who found fame in her native Columbia as a teenager, later went on to establish the Pies Descalzos Foundation, a charity which sets up special schools for underprivileged children across her home country.

She is also a UNICEF Goodwill ambassador and regularly performs at benefit concerts around the globe.

In February she also opened a new $6 million school in her hometown Barranquilla sponsored by herself and the Pies Descalzos Foundation.

Janet Jackson said the realization of her brother, Michael’s, death only hit her three months after his death.

The ‘Make Me’ singer said she had avoided everything that could remind her of her Thriller’ singer brother after he suddenly passed away in June, until she was about to perform at the

MTV Video Music Awards in September, when she saw a huge picture in tribute to him.

Janet, 43, said, “It hit me before I was about to do the performance, and it hit me when we were in rehearsal.

“There was a huge image of him on this screen, and I started to cry. I had to step away.”

She also said that she is continuing to come to terms with the singer’s death, of acute intoxication by the anesthetic Propofol, but that she feels in future things will get easier.

She added, “You know, a day doesn’t go by where you don’t think about him. It’s always there, in every sense. “But it will get better. It’s not easy, but I know with time it will get easier. But it will never be easy. It’s my brother.”

Beyonce Knowles said she has sacrificed her entire life in becoming successful.

The ‘Single Ladies’ singer said that the pressures of celebrity have taken everything away from her that would allow her to enjoy a normal lifestyle.

She said, “I just sacrificed life. Being able to walk down the street and being able to make mistakes and not have it recorded for ever.

“Being able to have regular relationships and dates. Just regular, normal things that people probably don’t even think about. Sometimes it’s hard.”

Beyonce, 28, also said that during her career, which has so far spanned 14 years recording with Destiny’s Child and as a solo artist, she has hardly ever had any chance to take a break.

She added, “I haven’t had longer than a couple of months off ever in my life, since I was 15.

“But I was raised that anything that’s worth anything takes a lot of sacrifice. And when anything is too easy for me I get scared.”

The ‘Halo’ hitmaker also said, however, she’s promised to take some time out of her recording and touring schedule to keep for herself next year.

She added: “After a couple of dates in February and a couple of award shows, I promised myself that that it’s time to smell the roses.

“I’m going to take, hopefully, a couple of months off. I’m not going to plan anything. I’ll perhaps take some art classes, I’ll visit some museums and I’ll check out some shows on Broadway. I’d like to travel somewhere – maybe Egypt – without anyone, without any security, and focus on things I’ve always wanted to do myself.”

Taylor Swift wants to go furniture shopping in London.

The 19-year-old star, who is currently living with her parents, has just bought her first house and is planning on kitting it out with homeware from the UK capital’s trendiest shops.

She said, “I have just bought my first home in Nashville. So I will go out soon, and live alone for the first time in my life. If I find some free time in London, I would like to buy furniture and accessories. I’ve heard that there are great antique shops in Portobello Road.”

Taylor, who is rumoured to be dating ‘Twilight Saga: New Moon’ star Taylor Lautner, isn’t worried about partying too much once she is out of her parents’ house because doesn’t like drinking.

She told German website Stern, “I am not the party type. I never drank alcohol in my life. It is not my thing. I like to keep a cool head and control.”
