London, UK (CNS) – NME, the popular UK music magazine, had its critics and staffers vote a 100-strong list of the best songs of the decade. At the top is Beyonce’s 2003 Rich Harrison-produced track, “Crazy In Love.”

The track, which features Jay-Z, hit #1 in the U.S. and the UK and comes in at #1 on the NME list. Beyonce’s horn-laden single beats out songs like MGMT’s “Time to Pretend” and The Strokes’ “Hard to Explain” for the top spot. Outkast and Yeah Yeah Yeahs both score two entries in the top 20.

The closest R&B peer on the list is Rihanna, who comes in at #16 with her hit “Umbrella.” Further down the list are Missy Elliott with “Get Ur Freak On” at #36 and Britney Spears’ “Toxic” at #47. The entire list is available for viewing at NME.com.

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) – In a battle which resulted in a Top 6 made up almost entirely of debuts, John Mayer’s “Battle Studies” was the clear winner on the Billboard Albums Chart this week, coming in at #1 with 286,000 copies sold in its first week out. “Battle Studies” is Mayer’s fourth studio album, which includes the single “Who Says,” and his second to debut at the #1 spot.

In second place was a nice sales surge for Andrea Bocelli, whose holiday album “My Christmas” moves up to #2, selling 185,000 copies this week. Norah Jones’ latest, “Fall,” debuts at #3 with 180,000 copies sold, while Counting Crows debut with “Until the Whole World Hears,” at #4 with 167,000.

50 Cent posts his lowest debut on the Billboard albums chart, with “Before I Self Destruct” coming at #5, selling 160,000 copies. His last album, “Curtis,” sold over 691,000 its first week in 2007. Justin Bieber follows at #6 with his “My World” EP, which sold 137,000 copies in its first week.

Michael Jackson follows with the companion album to his feature film, “Michael Jackson’s This Is It,” at #7 this week with 96,000 copies. The “New Moon” soundtrack saw a sales surge following the release of the film, moving 93,000 copies for #8 this week.

Rounding out the top 10 are two country titans, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. Underwood’s “Play On” is down to #9 this week, moving 86,000 copies and Swift’s “Fearless” logs another week in the top 10, moving another 84,000 copies.

Just outside the top 10, the debut of “American Idol” winner Kris Allen’s self-titled debut album, which sold 80,000 copies. It’s also the lowest-charting debut position from an “Idol” winner. Other notable debuts include Them Crooked Vulture’s self-titled debut at #12 with 69,000 copies, and Leona Lewis’ “Echo” at #13 with 67,000 copies.

Katie Price has been branded “cruel” by jilted lover Alex Reid’s mother.

Carol Reid launched the attack on the glamor model after she publicly dumped the cage-fighter on British TV, hours after quitting reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here’.

Alex had flown over to Australia, where the show is filmed, in order to propose to the star.

Carol said, “I watched the TV and it seemed very cruel the way she spoke about Alex. He really loved her and gave up a lot for her, and this is how he gets treated by her.

“I can’t get through to him at the moment. All I know is that he is in Australia and his phone is off. He must be upset. I’m worried for him.”

Alex, 34, is said to have been spotted sobbing over the couple’s split in Sydney.

Katie, who started dating Alex seven months ago in the wake of her messy divorce from singer Peter Andre, seemingly made her decision after Alex revealed his marriage proposal plans to a newspaper at the weekend.

The pair are set to meet again for showdown talks, although not until a film crew for Katie’s UK reality TV show, ‘What Katie Did Next’, can be flown into Australia.

A source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “The crew have been told to get out there as quickly as possible as there is going to be fireworks.

“Katie’s not stupid and wants massive ratings for her show.”

Popular Richmond, VA area DJ “DJ Peachez” (born Terika Grooms) passed away suddenly today following a “very short illness,” radio station Power 92.1 has announced.

In a brief post, Power 92.1 said:

It is with a heavy, heavy heart that we tell you that our own DJ Peachez passed away today after a very short illness. She has been with iPower 921 since 2006 and will always be remembered as an inspiration to young women who aspire to be on air DJ’s and Mixers. Terika Grooms aka DJ Peachez was a graduate of James Madison University and she truly loved being a DJ.

No further details are available regarding DJ Peachez’s illness or cause of death. More information about the life and career of DJ Peachez can be found here.

Adam Lambert is here and he’s queer, so get used to it.

Lambert spoke unapologetically about the controversy surrounding his risque AMAs performance, on an Early Show segment ironically titled “Straight Talk.” Lambert points out that Eminem boasted of multiple rapes and Janet Jackson groped a fellow dancer, but that even at the late hour (close to 11pm), Lambert’s same-sex shenanigans are the ones raising ire. Lambert pointed out the double standard and told the interviewer that parents should be responsible for what their kids are exposed to, and not performers:

“I’m not using that as an excuse, and I didn’t take any offense with those performers’ choices,” Lambert said. “I’m just saying I think it’s up to a parent to watch the television. It was almost 11:00 at night. If they’re concerned with certain material maybe TiVo it and preview it before your small child is watching it.”

When asked if he should apologize, Lambert responded: “I’m not a babysitter, I’m a performer.”

Lambert concluded his appearance with two songs from his new album, and no simulation of oral sex.

John Mayer doesn’t date famous women to help his career.

The ‘Gravity’ singer, who has been romantically involved with Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Love Hewitt, thinks it is “sick” when people accuse him of wining and dining famous beauties to help boost his album sales.

He said, “You just never know who’s going to come into your life. To my mind, the only thing sicker than saying, ‘Wow, you’re a famous person and it would do a lot for my career to go out with you,’ is to say, ‘Wow, you’re a famous person and I like you and all, but I can’t do that to my career.’ I don’t think either of those is a good option.”

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old musician, who is known for his melancholic, acoustic sound and emotional lyrics, claims his records are so likeable, they overshadow any criticism he receives.

He added to Details magazine, “At the end of the day, all I owe the world in exchange for my dumb face being in their lives are 10 songs every couple years that are hopefully of greater magnitude than somebody’s story about me… you’ll walk away from the record liking me a hell of a lot more than you would walking away from an interview.”

Woody Allen has cast Carla Bruni in his new film.

The French First Lady, who is married to French President Nicolas Sarkozy, has accepted Woody’s offer to appear in his as-yet untitled project, but admits she could be “completely useless”.

Carla, 41, was first approached by Woody, 73, last year after he met her and told her she was “wonderful” and gushed he would love to have the supermodel-turned-singer in one of his movies.

Carla, who married Sarkozy two months after meeting him at a dinner party in Paris said, “He suggested I appear in his next film. I don’t know what the role is but I said yes. I go into everything blindly or I’d never do anything at all.

“I’m not an actress at all. Perhaps I’ll be completely hopeless but I can’t miss an opportunity like this one. When I’m a grandmother I’d like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen.”

Carla, whose acting experience so far consists of only a few brief film appearances, was seen in an episode of ‘The Simpsons’ last week in the US where she was portrayed as a sex-mad femme fatale.

Lady Gaga had stopped taking drugs and didn’t have time for men by the time she was 20, her friend has revealed.

Despite her claims to a life of wild partying and casual sex, the ‘Bad Romance’ singer’s best pal DJ Lady Starlight claims she was solely focused on her music when she first met her at her 20th birthday party.

Starlight said in an interview with Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, “It was obvious even then that Gaga was going to be famous. She was incredibly focused on exactly what she wanted to do.

“I know she’s talked about doing lots of drugs but by the time we met she had stopped all that. She didn’t even have time for boyfriends.”

Lady Starlight, 33, also revealed she and Lady Gaga, 23, always experimented with fashion and tried to create the wildest stage outfits they could dream up – though they would often not last through a show.

She added to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper, “We were very creative but the outfits were often stuck together with glue. Sometimes they fell apart when we were on stage.”

Among Gaga’s more outrageous comments have been her comparison between making music and having “mind-blowing, irresponsible, condomless sex” and that despite being bisexual she separates love and sex and prefers “male sexuality” .

Lady Starlight also added that her friends initially shocked parents are now fully supportive of her career.

Rihanna will earn $500,000 to perform at a New Year’s Eve party.

The ‘Umbrella’ singer has been asked to sing at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi to help revelers see in 2010 in what will be her first performance in the Middle East.

A source told the New York Post newspaper, “She was supposed to perform back in May but she canceled in the aftermath of the assault. This is a make-up date.”

Rihanna had been due to perform in Dubai earlier this year, which would have been her first show since she was attacked by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown in February.

However, she canceled the concert as she felt she wasn’t ready to return to the stage.

Rihanna will not be the first star to earn a vast amount of money for a one-off concert.

On New Year’s Eve 2006, George Michael was paid $2.6 million to perform 13 songs at a party for Russian nickel magnate Vladimir Potanin and a few months later was given around $2.5 million to sing at the 55th birthday party of Sir Philip Green, the owner British fashion chain Topshop.

Last year, it was revealed Amy Winehouse was paid $1.6 million to perform in an old Russian bus garage for Daria ‘Dasha’ Zhukova – the girlfriend of Chelsea Football Club owner, billionaire Roman Abramovich.

The Rolling Stones were paid around $7.3 million for playing at the 60th birthday bash of billionaire David Bonderman.

Emily Blunt used to have a stutter.

The ‘Young Victoria’ actress suffered from the speech impediment while growing up and admits she used to be reluctant to speak as a teenager.

She said in an interview with New York Times magazine, “Because I couldn’t talk very much, I watched the world go by more closely.”

Rather than let her stutter get the better of her, Emily improved her speech by listening to the different accents of the people in her acting class.

She said, “I’ve always been fascinated by accents, and the way people speak, and the intonations of it, and that was because I found it so hard to speak in my own voice.”

Emily, 26, doesn’t shy away from self-improvement. She went to “dance boot camp” for her role as a ballerina in new movie ‘The Adjustment Bureau’, in which she stars alongside Matt Damon.

She recently said, “I’m going to dance boot camp. I’ll never be at the same standard as a professional, but hopefully I’ll be able to do a little bit.

“I didn’t do ballet when I was a child. I gave it up in some sort of bratty rage, claiming it hurt my feet.”

‘The Adjustment Bureau’, which also stars Anthony Mackie, is a sci-fi thriller which sees Matt’s congressman character thrown into turmoil by the arrival into his life of Emily’s dancer character.
