Scarlett Johansson: I kick major ass in Iron Man 2

scarlett-johansson-iron-man

Scarlett Johansson – who plays Natasha Romanoff and her alter-ego, sexy Russian spy Black Widow – enjoyed working on the comic book adaptation because she filmed her own violent stunt scenes.

She said: “I’m kicking some major ass – so I would say ‘major’ is the amount of a*s I kick. Whose a*s do I kick? Well, you’re just going to have to wait and see. You don’t really want to know, do you?”

Scarlett – who wears a high-tech tight black leather suit for the part - spent months training for the physical role.

Despite the hard work, the 24-year-old starlet says the physical sequences were her favourite scenes to film. She explained: “Well I have to say I loved doing all my stunt sequences, because those are the ones I know best. I’ve got to fight for them. I’ve got to be my own cheerleader. So, all the Black Widow sequences, of course.

“Whose side is she fighting on? I don’t know. I think you’ve just got to call me a super shape-shifter.”

Scarlett took on the part after British actress Emily Blunt dropped out earlier this year.

‘Iron Man 2’ – which also stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Mickey Rourke – is due for release in May next year.

Yet another band says thank you for pirating our song

huge-aquarium

Just last week I posted about the second largest aquarium in the world and how cool it was. Well it turns out that the song by Barcelona used in the video had been pirated. Now in this day and age of YouTube takedowns at the slightest finger wagging by record companies the guys in Barcelona are saying a great big thank you to the person who made the video. The band claims that the video has actually boosted their album sales and concert ticket sales.

So bucking the takedown trend the guys in the band posted a video response to the "Kuroshio Sea" video in which they thanked the uploader of the video and all their new-found friends that came as a result of the posting.

Now that’s the way to handle the times when a fan creates something really cool and actually adds value to your music. Good on ya Barcelona!

True Blood fans bite into Comic Con

true-blood-2x07-spoiler

Comic Con attendees and observant fans eagerly awaiting True Blood Season 2 Episode 7 (titled Release Me) peeped an extended teaser this weekend that appears to drop some interesting bombshells.

Fangirls and Sookie/Eric shippers (represent!) will be most intrigued by a split-second shot of a very contended Sookie in bed with what appears to be OMG our favorite viking vampire Sheriff of Area 5 (1:23). Also spotted in the teaser- vamp advocate and Bill Maher guest Nan Flanagan looking less than Today-show ready, Sookie laying her smack down on “vampire ho” Lorena, and Maryann pulling her bail yo’ ass out of jail schtick. Another disturbing snippet sees Eric writhing in pain whilst shackled to an altar in silver chains. Nooooo!

Amid the respective cries of “Beeeeel!” and “Suckeh!” it’s pretty difficult to work out any real spoilers, and we all know HBO is staffed with wizards when it comes to creating misleading and action filled trailers. It was honestly the most exciting 1:37 of my life.

Comic-Con also saw the unveiling of a new product tie-in for the show- a replica of Tru Blood that’s really a blood orange soda priced at $4 a bottle. And one last note for book fans- series creator Alan Ball put the kibosh on any hopes of seeing the undead man from Memphis on the small screen. Ball feels it would be impossible to suspend disbelief enough on TV to have beloved Bubba be a viable character on the show adaptation. Burn.

While topping episode 6 (Hard Hearted Hannah, as crooned by Guillame) will be pretty hard, episode 7 looks like it’s going to be pretty fierce, too.

James May to live in Lego house

lego-house1

Well, at least for a weekend.

James May, one of the three dudes on Top Gear, is branching out from silly car tricks to silly house tricks on his show James May’s Toy Stories. The project is already underway, with a metric frickload (roughly 3 million) of the colorful plastic bricks waiting for construction to start at the site in Dorking, Surrey.

May has invited “the general public” to assist in building the structure, and is soliciting donations to ensure that there are enough bricks available to complete the house. The plan is to include a full size working shower, toilet and staircase as the house will be two stories high. He discussed potential snags in the Lego-house concept with the BBC:

“I’ve got a man working on a flushing Lego lavatory. We think it’s possible.

“Things like power supply, sanitation and plumbing coming into the house are as they could be for a real building… everything within my Lego house must as far as possible be Lego,” he said.

After the Lego house is complete, May plans to build a full scale racetrack out of Scaletrix. Who doesn’t want to grow up to be this lucky bastard?

Simon Cowell’s guests sang ‘You’re So Vain’ to him at his surprise 50th birthday party

simon-cowell

The music mogul was treated to a performance from Dannii Minogue, Amanda Holden and his ex-girlfriend Jackie St Claire on Saturday night (25.07.09) - before Carly Simon joked he was the inspiration behind her hit 1972 record.

During the white-themed evening at Jackie’s West London home, Piers Morgan phoned Carly and put her on loud-speaker so she could talk to the guests.

She said: “I was re-recording ‘You’re So Vain’ in the studio the other week and I was at the piano. I just thought, ‘Of course, this song is all about Simon Cowell.’ ”

In response, Simon – who turns 50 on October 7 – quipped: “Uh, Carly, I think you’re forgetting something – didn’t you write ‘Nobody Does It Better’ about me too?”

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge Bruno Tonioli and Simon’s fellow ‘X Factor’ judge Louis Walsh donned huge masks of the music mogul and provided the backing vocals to the surprise performance.

Simon believed the party was to celebrate Jackie’s birthday and turned up with an unusual present for his former girlfriend – a giant portrait of himself.

Following the bash, Simon said: “It was supposed to be a quiet affair, so it was all a big surprise. Carly Simon did say that she wrote ‘You’re So Vain’ about me, which was highly amusing. It was a great night.”

The music guru was joined at the party by ‘American Idol’ make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, who had flown from the US for the party.

The 36-year-old beauty and the reality show judge have been spotted together several times recently.

However, Simon’s spokesman has insisted the pair are “just good friends” and their relationship is “purely platonic”.

Amy Winehouse “died” after a three-day drug binge

wino

Blake Fielder-Civil has revealed he thought Amy had passed away “in his arms” as the pair got high in London in August 2007.

Blake, 27, claims he and Amy – who have been granted a decree nisi and will finalise their divorce in just over four weeks - had been taking heroin and crack cocaine without sleep for days when the singer collapsed.

He told Britain’s The Sun newspaper: “I was terrified. We were sitting on the bed talking. Her eyes suddenly went blank. She started having a fit on the bed. I was panicking. I didn’t know how to help her. I was out of it on drugs as well, and was sobbing and crying out, ‘Amy!’

“She had an awful look on her face then suddenly she just passed out and stopped breathing. It was the most frightening thing I had ever seen. I felt sure I was watching her die right in front of me. I didn’t know what to do or how to save her. I held her to me and I thought she was dying in my arms.”

Blake eventually “came to his senses” and started CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), reviving the dying star.

He revealed: “I was panicking but I somehow managed to open her mouth and breathe air down her throat. At first nothing happened then she spluttered and I saw her chest rise.”

But as soon as she regained consciousness, Blake claims Amy begged for more drugs, even as she was in a taxi being rushed to hospital.

He added: “I loved her so much. I couldn’t bear for her to die in front of me. She had everything going for her but she ended up behaving badly just to shock. After a while that just becomes a bore. I’d warned her to stop but she always wanted to keep on taking the drugs.”

Angelina Jolie’s daughter will only wear her older brother’s cast-offs

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie - who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt - has tried everything to persuade three-year-old Shiloh to wear other clothes, but she refuses to don anything that hasn’t belonged to Maddox, seven.

At the moment, the toddler can regularly be seen sporting a pair of Maddox’s old soccer boots.
She loves the shoes so much she even wears them to her ballet and tap dancing lessons.

A source told the National Enquirer magazine: “Shiloh always wants to wear those shoes. She cries when Angelina tries to put anything else on her.”

It is not the first time Shiloh has fallen in love with an item of clothing. Last year, she wanted to wear a ballet tutu at all times, and was seen in it “for months”. Shiloh’s love of clothes doesn’t seem to be inherited from her mother.

Angelina recently revealed she doesn’t spend much time thinking about what
she will wear to red carpet events, and is more interested in whether a dress is comfortable than the impact it will have.

Anna Friel will not give up her career for motherhood

anna-friel

Land of the Lost actress Anna Friel - who raises four-year-old daughter Gracie Ellen Mary with her partner of nine years, ‘Harry Potter’ actor David Thewlis - adores being a mother but would be reluctant to quit Hollywood to focus on family life.

She said: “I love being a mother so much, but this is also an important time in my career where things are finally happening for me. I don’t ever want to regret not making the most of it, so I bring my daughter to work with me. It’s the only way to make it work.”

However, the 33-year-old British beauty admits she finds being a working mother a challenge. She explained: “I had Gracie with me on the set while I was filming ‘Land of the Lost’ and it was weird explaining why her mummy was in a cage! But she
loved it! David and I both had such traditional English childhoods that it is surreal to find ourselves raising our daughter in Hollywood. But we always tell her, ‘It’s only pretend’.”
