Jeff Goldblum is dating a woman 35 years his junior

jeff-goldblum

56-year-old actor Jeff Goldblum was seen smooching with ‘Lost’ actress Tania Raymonde, 21, during a meal at Los Angeles’ Toast Bakery Cafe.

An onlooker said: “Despite the age-gap, Jeff and Tania appeared smitten with one another and couldn’t keep their hands to themselves.”

Goldblum has previously been married to Patricia Gaul, who he was wed to for six years from 1980 to 1986, and actress Geena Davis.

He co-starred with Davis in three films, including ‘Earth Girls Are Easy’ and ‘The Fly’.

They married in 1987 but divorced in 1990, although remained good friends and Goldblum has since said of his ex-wife: “She’s a wonderful person and a wonderful actress.”

Raymonde played Alex Rousseau in ‘Lost’, in which her character was shot and killed, and she also featured in the 2009 season finale of ‘Law and Order: Criminal Intent’ alongside Goldblum.

In the episode, she played the daughter of a terrorist from the German urban guerilla group the Baader-Meinhof gang.

Paris Hilton was not at fault for her film flopping, a court has ruled

paris-hilton1

The socialite was sued by Worldwide Entertainment Group for allegedly breaching her contractual commitments for movie ‘National Lampoon’s Pledge This!’, but a Miami judge has ruled she did her best to promote it, stating the movie was “hardly destined for critical acclaim”.

District Judge Federico Moreno said: “Any causal connection between Ms. Hilton’s alleged breaches and the financial ruin of the film are wholly speculative.

“The movie flopped because the film’s inexperienced producers hastily cobbled together a wholly inadequate marketing plan. They sent scattershot requests to their principal star in the hope she could find time to promote a sinking ship.”

While Paris won’t have to pay the $8.3 million damages the producers were asking for, she may have to return the $1 million fee she was given for the film.

A receiver representing the producers has been given until August 26 to submit arguments as to why the blonde star should pay back the sum.

Michael Weinsten, Paris’ lawyer, said in a statement following the ruling: “We are grateful for the judge’s time and thoughtful consideration of the issues in this case.”

Robert Pattinson can’t understand why he isn’t dating a model

robert-pattinson

23-year-old ‘Twilight’ actor Robert Pattinson expected to attract more interest from the opposite sex when he shot to stardom playing vampire Edward Cullen in the first film of the hit vampire franchise.

He said: “I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know why. You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.

“You sit there and you’re like, ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’. But I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.”

Although Robert is unhappy with his single status, he would never act on any of the female attention he does receive – because it is from people either too young or too old for him.

He explained: “Most of the girls are all pretty young so it’s just kind of funny. But then you get the ‘Twilight Mums’ who love you like mums! And you can take that too far. I mean, it could be ‘Edward breaks up Twilight family’.

“It’s especially different in Los Angeles. Most of the women there are actresses and by default that makes them a little bit nuts – not that that’s a bad thing.”

Robert’s first acting role was as Hogwarts tri-wizard champion Cedric Diggory in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ aged 18, and he was preparing to embark on a very different career path before he landed the part.

He explained to Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “I was going to do the conventional thing and go to university to study International Relations.

“I wanted to be a politician but ‘Harry Potter’ made that decision for me.”

Michael Jackson’s mother wants to sue the promoters of his London comeback shows

katherine-jackson

Katherine Jackson claims the pressures of the 50-date residency which her son was talked into led to his death.

She is believed to be targeting both the promoters behind the shows, AEG, and Michael’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, in a $100 million wrongful death lawsuit.

Katherine’s lawyer Burt Levitch said: “The possibility of a wrongful death action has been floated.

“In that regard, no decision has been finalised. Dr. Murray’s name has been put forward because he is under investigation.

“It’s fairly obvious from press accounts that AEG had a very active role in Michael’s life for the last six months. They paid for his home and for Dr. Conrad Murray.”

Katherine may sue for her son’s loss of earnings and her emotional distress.

Michael died of a suspected cardiac arrest in June, after reportedly ingesting a cocktail of prescription drugs.

Dr. Murray was with him at the time of his death, and is alleged to have administered powerful anaesthetic Propofol.

Michael was rehearsing for his comeback shows at the time of his death, and his family believe he turned to drugs to get through his gruelling preparation schedule for the performances.

A spokesperson for AEG said: “It would be inappropriate to speculate on any potential litigation.”

Meanwhile, the Jackson family have confirmed Michael will be buried on August 29, which would have been his 51st birthday.

The service will take place at 10am at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery.

Kelly Clarkson is set to return to ‘American Idol’

kelly-clarkson-snl

‘My Life Would Suck Without You’ singer Kelly Clarkson - who won the first series of the US TV talent show in 2002 - will appear as a guest judge at an audition next week.

A source said: “Kelly is beyond excited to get back to the show that started it all.”

It has also been claimed Kelly and the other current judges - Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi - will be joined by one of the Jonas Brothers to find America’s next pop superstar.

Following the departure of full-time judge Paula Abdul, who is believed to have quit the show over an alleged pay dispute, a series of famous faces have filled her place - including former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, hip-hop artist Mary J. Blige and ‘I Kissed a Girl’ singer Katy Perry.

The source added: “At this stage it doesn’t look like Paula will be replaced by one person. The celebrity judges are working really well for now.”

Other stars linked to the guest judge role include Jennifer Lopez and Shania Twain.

Keith Richards wears his wife’s clothes

keith-richards

Rolling Stones rocker Keith Richards takes a keen interest in fashion and his spouse, former supermodel Patty Hansen insists he looks good in anything – even her cast-offs.

The couple’s 23-year-old daughter Alexandra revealed: “My mum says he’d even look cute in a tutu. He doesn’t wear one, but he can wear anything and make it look great. He wears my mum’s pyjama pants and blouses, and still makes them look amazing. It’s cool.”

Alexandra and her sister Theodora – who are currently fronting an advertising campaign for French Connection together – say they have always been proud of their parents’ individual senses of style.

Theodora explained to Britain’s Grazia magazine: “We were watching our baby videos last night and my mum and dad were the most wicked dressers.

“Everyone else was wearing clean-cut pants and T-shirts, and they had scarves on their heads, earrings everywhere – dad too. Their style definitely affected us.”

An Open Letter to the SyFy Network

syfy

Not many people will publicly admit this, but I will:  there’s a soft spot in my heart for the SyFy Network (formerly “SciFi”), and always has been.  But just because I’m sympathetic to the cause doesn’t mean I unilaterally support your decisions, which is why this is being written.

Over the years, you’ve produced alot of great content that’s sadly balanced by a similar amount of trash:  Stargate: SG-1 vs. Eureka, Battlestar Galactica vs. Scare Tactics, Warehouse 13 vs. all non-Stargate “original movies”.  There are a few mini-series that managed to be decent, but your best content has always been TV shows – not movies, not mini-series.

The main problem lies in potentially good ideas that lack sufficient funding - “Android Apocalypse”, a movie based on a Terminator-like premise, with poor acting, shoddy special effects, and lackluster camera work.  But this is not limited to your movies alone; the first season of Stargate: Atlantis, especially the first few episodes, suffered the same fate.

In the Hollywood world, larger budgets generally equate to a better overall product, something you should have realized over the course of your sixteen year history.  While this isn’t always true (*cough* NBC *cough*), it does bring more talented actors, more believable special effects, and higher quality camera work – all essential pieces to a successful science fiction release.

You do occasionally get it right though: Battlestar Galactica was all-around amazing from the start, and its already-significant financing obviously increased as the show progressed to its natural conclusion this past Spring.  Stargate: Universe looks to be a mix of the different Stargate styles (SG-1 vs. Atlantis) and BSG, with enough money to do it properly – I’m waiting with baited, but excited, breath.

Maybe you should focus on what you’re good at, and ignore the rest: produce quality science fiction television, ignore reality shows, and release only a fraction of the “original movies” you currently do.  If you follow this simple equation, you’ll have enough money to fund what people actually want to watch, rather than attracting small, loyal audiences.  This flies in the face of the recent name change, something else I can’t agree with, since you seem to be intent on producing more fantasy (read: medieval magic) and paranormal (read: vampires) content, but you should consider it all the same.

Hopefully your dedication to the Stargate, BSG, and other worlds will continue:   their shelf-life shouldn’t be dragged out further than necessary, but rather reinvigorated with new chapters in the continuing saga.  Just stick with what works, ignore what doesn’t, and keep an eye out for ways to expand your audience without ruining your already precarious reputation – the TV adaptation of Terry Goodkind’s “The Sword of Truth” series would have been perfect for your network, and may have actually been worth watching, as opposed to its current incarnation.

If you learn anything in your new incarnation and quest for ratings, it should be this:  a large audience is not necessarily a great audience.  Don’t let Battlestar Galactica be the pinnacle of your success, because scifi nerds worldwide are secretly rooting for you.

Sincerely,

Kyle Brady, sympathetic to the cause

p.s. I actually liked “Cube 2: Hypercube”.
