Amy Farris, a fiddler with the Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women was found dead from suspected suicide in her Los Angeles home over the weekend aged 40.

Farris, an Austin Texas native, had performed extensively with Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women, and had also produced her own EP in 2003. A seasoned fiddler, Farris had performed previously on Late Night with David Letterman and Conan O’Brien and her television recording credits include King of the Hill, CSI: Miami and Mad Men.

Dave Alvin wrote on his Facebook account “Mourning the loss of my friend and musical compatriot, Amy Farris. The words sad and sorrowful are too weak to express what I’m feeling. Rest in Peace, Amy.”

Austin 360 notes that “In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to send a donation in her honor to Hungry For Music, Inc, a nonprofit effort to provide musical instruments to at risk children.”

Actor Dennis Hopper was been rushed to the emergency room a New York hospital Wednesday afternoon after complaining of a “stomach ailment.”

According to reports, 73 year old Hopper was seen wearing an oxygen mask and with numerous tubes visible as he was admitted to the ER at the unnamed hospital.

Hopper, the star of films including Apocalypse Now and Blue Velvet, was in town to promote his STARZ series Crash, and was booked to appear on the Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show among other appearances.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Dennis is said to be fine, and was under observation in the hospital, despite some sites suggesting that he might be dead.

Michael Jackson’s estate has sued a charity foundation for allegedly using his name and likeness without permission. Heal the World Foundation is being accused of unfair competition, trademark infringement and other violations.

According to the King of Pop’s estate special administrators John Branca and John McClain, the organization – which describes itself as a “universal charity organization designed to improve the condition of all mankind” – used websites and trademarks that suggest Jackson endorsed donations to the organization.

The singer’s own Heal the World foundation, which he formed in 1992, is no longer active.

Lawyers for his estate also alleges that the new foundation and a related entity, United Fleet, registered numerous Jackson-related trademarks, applied for another 41, and sold merchandise through them, BBC reports.

They are seeking to block the use of words and phrases associated with the “Thriller” hitmaker.

Edward Furlong was sectioned after threatening to commit suicide, his estranged wife has claimed.

Rachael Kneeland, who is in the process of divorcing the 31-year-old actor, has been granted a temporary restraining order against the actor, after complaining his drug use is out of control and he has become violent towards her.

Papers filed in Los Angeles superior court asking for a permanent order said, “Edward’s drug use has escalated along with attacking me and threatening my life.”

According to the documents, Rachael says that on September 23, Edward “grabbed me, bruised me, pushed me… left messages saying he would hire people to come and beat me with chains and bats. He is smoking cocaine and doing other various drugs. He is very unpredictable.”

Edward then allegedly sent more than 20 threatening messages to her, and was in “lockdown after threatening suicide and I called 911”.

A temporary order, forbidding the star from going within 100 yards of his estranged spouse, was granted on September 25, with a full hearing set to take place on October 20.

A spokesperson for the ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ actor, who has a three-year-old-son Ethan with Rachael said, he plans to fight the ruling, insisting the allegations are false.

The representative said, “Mr. Furlong vehemently denies all allegations that have been made and is currently working with his legal team to have this temporary restraining order extinguished.

Unfortunately, the two parties are going through a very contentious divorce and custody battle. Eddie’s main concern is his son, Ethan, and moving forward with his life.

“Eddie has been sober for more than five years and is preparing to begin production on a new film.”

A friend of the star – who is due to start filming ‘The Green Hornet’ later this week – denied he is using drugs but claims the split is taking its toll.

The pal said, “He has gotten really upset – anybody would. We’re trying to get him back to a place where he’s calming down and talking to everybody.”

Rachael, 25, filed for divorce in July, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple married in April 2006 after they met on the set of independent movie ‘Jimmy and Judy’.

Keen animal rights activist Edward, who shot to fame aged 13, has a history of alcohol and substance abuse problems and has had several stints in rehab.

Asked if she will be a mother again, she replied, “Who knows? I have my hands full right now! I have no idea! That’s all I’m going to say. But we never say never.”

Although she wants more children, Madonna, who is rumored to be planning to marry boyfriend Jesus Luz, won’t be extending her family in the near future as she has several charity projects and movie ventures filling her spare time.

She explained, “I have several projects going. I have another script that I’ve written, and I want to direct another film. Hopefully, I’ll be doing that next year. I also have many projects going on in Africa right now that I want to bring to fruition, like building a girls school and working on two new documentaries.”

If Madonna does decide to have another child, she will get plenty of support from her eldest daughter.

She told website Popeater, “Lourdes is super-sister. She’s amazing with the little ones. She has the typical relationship with her brother, Rocco. They’re like, ‘I love you/I hate you’ every five minutes. But with the two little ones, she’s great. She’s amazing. Very protective.”

Lourdes appears in the video for ‘Celebration’ but her mother doesn’t believe she will follow in her footsteps as she prefers to act, an ambition the singer has vowed to support.

She said, “I don’t think she wants to be a singer. I think she wants to be an actress. I’m fine with it, as long as she finishes school, and takes it seriously. She also plays piano, and she’s really into clothes and fashion and style.”

Tori Spelling has been hospitalized with severe stomach pains.

The 36-year-old actress was rushed to a medical centre on Monday night, September 28, after complaining she was in discomfort and was then released, only to be readmitted yesterday, September 29.

Her representative confirmed, “Tori went to the hospital last night for abdominal pain. They released her, but she wasn’t feeling better today so she returned to the hospital for more tests.”

Tori’s husband Dean McDermott – with whom she has two children, Liam, two, and 15-month-old Stella – is deeply concerned about his wife’s condition.

He has taken to his Twitter page to reassure Tori’s fans that doctors are doing everything they can to help her.

Dean wrote, “‘T’ is in the hospital now with severe stomach pains. We’re trying to get her comfortable. Will keep you updated the best I can. Phone battery is dying.

“Just out of the hospital. After a battery of tests, no conclusive answers. She still feels terrible. Hope it passes soon. She’s in a lot of pain.”

Whoopi Goldberg has defended Roman Polanski, saying he did not commit “rape-rape”.

The ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ filmmaker was arrested in Zurich, Switzerland, on Saturday September 26, and faces being extradited to the US after he fled the country in 1978. This is after being convicted of having sex with a 13-year-old girl, believing a judge would renege on a plea bargain deal and hand him a considerable jail term.

Whoopi has now caused controversy by suggesting Polanski’s offense, which took place in 1977 was not as serious as the court deemed it.

She said on US TV talk show ‘The View’, “It was something else but I don’t believe it was rape-rape.

“He went to jail and when they let him out he was like, ‘This guy’s going to give me 100 years. I’m not staying.’

“We’re a different kind of society, we see things differently. Would I want my 14 year old having sex? Not necessarily, no.”

Whoopi’s co-host on the show, Sherri Shepherd, vehemently disagreed with the ‘Ghost’ star’s reasoning over Polanski’s attack on Samantha Gailey, now known as Samantha Geimer.

She posted on her Twitter page, “Whew… long day at The View… two shows today… hot debate over the Statutory Rapist Polanski. 45-year-old man plies a 13-year-old w/ drugs and liquor and penetrates her w/o her consent is a RAPIST. We hunt down 75-year-old Nazis. We must protect our children (sic).”

Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese and Woody Allen are among a group of people in the film industry who have signed a petition objecting to the 76-year-old director’s arrest.

More than 100 people, including Tilda Swinton, Monica Bellucci, David Lynch and Terry Gilliam, have put their names on the document, which calls for Polanski’s release from the Swiss jail where he is currently being held.

The group, supported by France’s Society of Dramatic Authors and Composers said, “The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance… opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects.

“It seems inadmissible to them that an international cultural event, paying homage to one of the greatest contemporary filmmakers, is used by the police to apprehend him.”

The director’s lawyers have made a legal petition asking the Swiss Criminal Court to release him from custody and block his extradition to the US. The legal team want Polanski – who has lived in Paris since fleeing the US and holds dual citizenship in Poland and France – to be allowed to post bail or be remanded on house arrest at the Swiss chalet he owns.

Jessica Alba is to star in the sequel to ‘Meet the Fockers’.

The 28-year-old actress is in negotiations to appear in ‘Little Fockers’, the third film in the popular ‘Meet the Parents’ franchise.

Producers want the ‘Love Guru’ star to play a sexy pharmaceutical rep whose looks send the movie’s male characters crazy.

If she lands the role, Jessica will star alongside Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Owen Wilson and Barbra Streisand.

The new film will see Stiller’s hapless character Gaylord Focker and his wife welcoming a child, or possibly twins, into the world.

The storyline is close to Jessica’s heart – she gave birth to Honor Marie, her first daughter with husband Cash Warren, 15 months ago.

She said, “Life moves so fast as a new mom. Sometimes I wish time would slow down.

“Every milestone is memorable, from the numerous wardrobe changes in her first five months due to her explosive diarrhea, to the first time she said, ‘Mama.’”

Paul Weitz is directing the new film, which will start shooting in the next few months.

It is currently set for a 2010 release date.

Britney Spears new song is about having a threesome.

The ‘Womanizer’ singer who is known for wearing revealing, skin-flashing outfits on stage has penned a track called ‘3’ which suggests she likes being intimate with two lovers at the same time.

On the track, Britney sings, “Three is a charm / Two is not the same / I don’t see the harm / So are you game?”

The chorus continues, “One, two, three / Not only you and me / Got one eighty degrees / And I’m caught in between.

“Countin’ one, two, three / Peter, Paul and Mary / Getting’ down with 3P / Everybody loves ***.”

The racy song is due to appear on Britney’s upcoming LP ‘The Singles Collection’.

This is not the first time Britney’s career has taken a provocative twist.

The 27-year-old star – who as a teenager said she wouldn’t have sex before marriage – is currently on the road with her steamiest world tour to date.

The ‘Jennifer’s Body’ star made her ambitions clear when she was growing up, but it didn’t go down well with her female classmates.

The 23-year-old beauty is quoted as saying, “There were some evil girls in my school and I went to Christian high school. I was fifteen and everybody knew that my aspiration in life was to become an actress.
