Actor Patrick Swayze has died after a nearly two year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Swayze, is best known and nominated for a Golden Globe award for his role of dance instructor Johnny Castle in the 1987 hit “Dirty Dancing” as well as Road House in 1989, Ghost in 1990 and Black Dog in 1998. Swayze was also listed by People Magazine as the Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.
Patrick Swayze’s publicist confirmed he passed away on Monday, September 14 at the age of 57. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Niemi.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin abides by the bizarre ritual which stems from an incident in the group’s early days when his bandmates punished him for sacking their drummer Will Champion by making him get drunk.
Chris said: “It started when I had to ask forgiveness for sacking our drummer Will about 10 years ago.
“Three days later the rest of us were feeling really miserable and we asked Will to meet me and out bassist Guy Berryman in Monkey Chews, a bar in Camden, London, where we asked him to come back.
“They made me have lots of vodka and cranberry juice in remembrance of what a nasty piece of work I was being.
“Now if I find myself making a big mistake I have to force myself to drink that stuff to remind me not to be such an idiot!”
Meanwhile, Chris admits he got very nervous about the band embarking on the UK leg of their current tour on Saturday (September 12), when they played in Manchester.
He said: “It feels like we have been away for a long time. The four of us were feeling really nervous about coming back home, but we were given a better reception than we could possibly have asked for.
Lily Allen has accepted the lead role in Neil LaBute’s London production of ‘Reasons To Be Pretty’ and wants to take a break from pop music because she is worn out.
Speaking backstage at the Bestival music festival – which takes place on the Isle of Wight – on Saturday (12.09.09), Lily said: “I’m not going to record and tour again for quite a while.
“I finish up my dates in March and I’ll be ready to do something else. I’ve been on the road for four years and I’ve given my voice a real run for its money. I’m struggling, so I’m going to try something new.
“The play is about themes close to my heart, about the really damaging cult of beauty among young girls. They want me to play the lead, which is both amazing and terrifying.”
The 24-year-old singer – who has previously hosted her own talk show and made a cameo in long-running Australian sitcom ‘Neighbours’ – is even having acting lessons at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) to prepare for her new West End role.
She said: “There’s a lady from RADA coming round to my house to train me up a bit. I’m always up for a new challenge.”
Kanye West had a bit of a change of heart after interrupting Taylor Swift’s speech at the VMAs and being booted from the venue.

Sir Elton John and his husband David Furnish are desperate to give a home to 14-month-old boy Lev – who they met at an orphanage at the weekend – but could be refused because it is illegal for homosexual couples to adopt in the Ukraine.
The 62-year-old musician and his 46-year-old husband will need to appeal to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko for special dispensation to bring the toddler back to the UK to live with them.
To further complicate their bid, the couple are also deemed too old to look after the young boy because national laws state there must be no more than a 45-year age gap between a child and its adoptive parents.
If the adoption is allowed, Elton and David – who married in a civil ceremony three years ago – would also be required to adopt Lev’s brother under Ukrainian rules.
Elton met Lev while performing his song ‘Circle of Life’ at the orphanage for babies with HIV and children who have parents with the disease in the town of Makeyevka.
On Saturday (12.09.09), Elton revealed he had never considered adopting before Lev had “stolen his heart”.
The musician said: “David and I have always talked about adoption. David always wanted to adopt a child and I always said ‘no’ because I’m 62… But seeing Lev today, I would love to adopt him.
”I don’t know how we do that, but he has stolen my heart. And he has stolen David’s heart and it would be wonderful if we can have a home.
”I’ve changed my mind today. He’s such a scrumptious thing, bless his heart.”
Kanye West cemented his place as the biggest douche in the music industry Sunday night when he interrupted Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).
Swift was on stage accepting the award for Best Female Video when West appeared next to her, saying “Yo Taylor, I’m happy for you…I’m sorry, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”
West’s interruption met with boos from the crowd, and other celebrities at the event let fly on Twitter. Pink wrote in a Tweet that “Kanye west is the biggest piece of shit on earth. Quote me” while Katy Perry added “F*$k U Kanye, it’s like u stepped on a kitten.”
Unconfirmed reports suggest that Kanye had been drinking before the incident, which at least one supporter claimed may have affected his judgment.
