Jay-Z was today’s guest on Oprah, and he wasn’t shy in offering an opinion or two on matters past and present.

Oprah asked (among other things) about Jay-Z’s drug-dealing past, his marriage to Beyonce and his relationship with his father. The bigger takeaway conversation though came around to matters Rihanna.

“It’s one of those situations where she’s young, they’re both young,” he said. ” … There’s a contention of young people who are going through the same things, and no one hears their voice. She can be their hero. Or she can choose not to grow from this.”

Actor Randy Quaid and his wife Evi have been arrested in Texas on burglary charges after allegedly failing to pay a hotel bill in excess of $10,000.

Randy and Evi were arrested by the Presidio County Sheriff’s Department in West Texas, who were acting on an arrest warrant from Santa Barbara police.

A Santa Barbara police spokesman told the media that “We’re told a struggle ensued with Evi Quaid, but she was quickly restrained.” The Quaid’s face felony charges of burglary, defrauding an innkeeper and conspiracy. Bail has been set at $20,000 each.

Randy Quaid appeared in movies including Independence Day, National Lampoon’s Vacation and Kingpin.

Robbie Williams’ new music video was inspired by aftershave adverts.

The pop star wanted the promo for ‘Bodies’ to examine different conspiracy theories, but caved in to his record label’s demand to make it like a TV commercial for a fragrance.

The 35-year-old singer said, “The song itself is a big conspiracy-laden song. Its where my head’s been for the last three years, on the internet watching films like ‘Zeitgeist’, ‘The God That Wasn’t There’ and ‘9/11 Was An Inside Job’.

“But if I’d put that in the video, the public would have said, ‘He’s definitely gone mental’. So I said, ‘What do you think we should do?’ And my record company said, ‘Let’s do an aftershave advert’, and I’m like,
‘Cool!’ ”

Robbie’s eighth studio album ‘Reality Killed The Video Star’ is due for release in November, but the star is worried people won’t like his brand of pop this time around.

He told MTV News, “I don’t know if people have got their ears on for me but I’m knocking at the door going, ‘Do you want some of this again or not?’

“I’m alright if you don’t like it or if you do. I think the next couple of months will define the rest of my life.”

Miley Cyrus had a restaurant closed so she and 100 friends could party together.

The ‘Hannah Montana’ star wanted to celebrate her sold-out concert at Los Angeles Staples Center on Tuesday night September 22, by dining at the newly opened eatery Katsuya.

The 16-year-old star told bosses she wanted privacy “no matter the cost” so she booked the entire restaurant.

Miley was dressed in an open back, black mini-dress and high black boots as she sipped on a special Katsuya drink.

A source added to website RadarOnline, “She was in great spirits and danced almost the whole night.”

Miley was keen to keep her party private as she recently claimed her life is being ruined by the paparazzi.

The ‘See You Again’ singer blasted photographers who follow her everywhere and has branded the profession “disgusting”.

She wrote on her Twitter page, “Being a paparazzi is the most DISGUISTING job imaginable.

“Being followed around by creepy photographers is NOT in the job description! YOU try being stuck inside cuz creepers are waiting for u (sic).”

“Girls Gone Wild” honcho Joe Francis has dodged a jail sentence after pleading guilty to two counts of filing false tax returns and one count of bribing jail workers.

A Los Angeles court has ordered the adult video company founder to pay $249,705 in restitution. He also received credit for the 301 days he spent in jail.

He has been accused of two counts of tax evasion and one count of bribing Nevada prison workers with $5,000 worth of goods to get food.

He said in a statement, “I am grateful that Judge Otero accepted my plea today. I’m very pleased, if the judge accepts our agreement with the government, all felony tax charges will be dismissed and I will not spend any more time in jail.”

He will be officially sentenced on November 6.

This is good news for Francis, 36, who originally faced 10 years in prison. However, this is not the end of his legal troubles.

He is still awaiting decisions if he will face any charges over the assault allegations Playboy Playmate Jayde Nicole accuses him of.

Elizabeth Taylor wants to be buried next to Michael Jackson.

The 77-year-old actress was close friends with the late pop icon and wants her final resting place to be alongside Michael at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn cemetery.

A source told National Enquirer magazine, “After sitting through Michael’s funeral service at the Great Mausoleum, with its magnificent stained-glass windows and replicas of Michelangelo’s artworks, she later told friends, ‘I felt a sense of peace there that I’ve never experienced before.’ ”

Elizabeth is said to be searching for a plot next to Michael, who died on June 25 of acute Propofol intoxication.

The actress, who uses a wheelchair because of scoliosis, which causes abnormal curving of the spine, did not attend Michael’s public memorial service in Los Angeles, held in July, as she was too overcome by grief.

She said at the time, “I’ve been asked to speak at the Staples Center. I cannot be part of the public whoopla. And I cannot guarantee that I would be coherent to say a word.”

In the immediate aftermath of his death, she released an emotional tribute to the ‘Billie Jean’ singer, saying, “I loved Michael with all my soul and I can’t imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had such loving fun together.

“He will live in my heart forever but it’s not enough. My life feels so empty. I don’t think anyone knew how much we loved each other.

“It was the purest most giving love I’ve ever known.”

Christian Slater says it is a “miracle” he has reached 40.

The ‘He Was A Quiet Man’ actor never thought he’d make it to the landmark age when he was a Hollywood hellraiser in his 20s.

He said, “I just hit 40, so what more can I say? I mean, the fact that I’m 40 is a miracle. I’m on the other side now.

“I feel like I’ve hit a certain milestone and I’m going onward and upward. If I were looking back, I would say to myself during the tough times, ‘If you can make it to 40, nothing in the past can prevent you from being present today.’

“There’s a great author who said, ‘We don’t live life, life kind of lives us.’ I’ve been out of control. But if I hadn’t been, I wouldn’t know how to be in control.”

Christian had numerous run-ins with the law in his younger days, including being arrested for criminal possession of a weapon at a New York airport in 1994, but he insists he has now put his past behind him.

He even went back to finish high school.

Christian added to Parade.com, “When I had kids, my whole idea on education started to shift just a little bit and I definitely wanted them to finish high school, but I hadn’t finished high school. So I knew that if I tried to push them, I would lose the argument because they’d be like, ‘Hey dad, you never finished.’ So I went and sat in a classroom with a bunch of students and got my General Education Development diploma.”

Christian has two children, son Jaden, 10, and daughter Eliana, 8, from his failed marriage Ryan Haddon.

Michael Jackson is releasing a posthumous single on October 12.

The late ‘Bad’ singer, who died in June of acute Propofol intoxication, brand new song ‘This Is It’ to being released ahead of a two-disc album of the same name.

John McClain, co-producer of the LP and co-executor of his estate, said, “This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows – that Michael is one of God’s greatest gifts.”

The new record includes tracks featured in the upcoming movie ‘This Is It’, which follows Michael as he prepares for the comeback shows he was due to perform at London’s O2 arena from July.

The first disc features some of Michael’s biggest hits, including two versions of new track ‘This Is It’.

Michael’s website states, “This song is featured in the film’s closing sequence and includes backing vocals by Michael’s brothers, The Jacksons.

“Disc two offers previously unreleased versions of some of the artist’s classic tracks. This disc also features a touching spoken word poem from Michael Jackson entitled ‘Planet Earth’ that has never been heard before.”

The album will be on sale internationally from October 26 and in North America on October 27.

The movie ‘This Is It’ hits cinemas worldwide on October 28, with a series of premieres taking place at the same time in cities across the globe.

Artists can be inducted 25 years after their debut release and both the The Red Hot Chili Peppers and hitmakers and rapper LL Cool J have made the shortlist in their first year of contention for the honour.

Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith said: “It’s a real honour to be nominated in our first year of eligibility. Obviously the Hall of Fame has excellent musical taste.”

After 10 years of being snubbed by the nominating committee, ‘Crazy Nights’ rockers KISS have received their first nomination for induction, after previously blasting the Hall of Fame for ignoring them.

Founder member Gene Simmons complained last year: “There are disco bands, rap bands, Yiddish folk song bands in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but not KISS. I believe we have more gold records in America than any other group, but it’s OK.”

However, the nomination could cause them problems with the ballot listing the four original members, Gene, Paul Stanley Ace Frehley and Peter Criss but Paul – who along with Gene remains in the group – is unsure the right people are listed.

Paul said: “There have been a lot of people who’ve been a part of this, some longer than others and some who deserve recognition more than others. Even the non-make-up years produced some platinum and double-platinum albums, and we had some very healthy sales in terms of albums and concerts through the ’80s and ’90s. So if we should ever be asked to accept induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it would be something to think about.”

Also nominated for the first time are Genesis, The Hollies and Jimmy Cliff.

They join previously suggested artists ABBA, The Chantels, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, The Stooges and Donna Summer.

Five of the 12 nominees will be chosen for induction from ballots cast by more than 500 music industry voters.

The chosen five will be revealed in January, with an induction ceremony taking place on March 15 at New York’s Waldorf Astoria hotel.

Lily Allen made the announcement on her new blog – called It’s Not Alright, which aims to stop people file sharing music on the internet – revealing she has no plans to release new songs or tour again.

She wrote: “Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record. I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade.

“The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I’m concerned, so I don’t stand to profit from legislation. Except future purchases of previously recorded material.”

The 24-year-old star is now focusing on her appearance in a London theatre production called ‘Reasons to be Pretty’, which follows a group of working-class people who are bored with their lives.

It is not the first time Lily has voiced her desire to give up her singing career.

Earlier this month, she said: “I’m not going record and tour again for quite a while.

“I finish up my dates in March and I’ll be ready to do something else. I’ve been on the road for four years and I’ve given my voice a real run for its money. I’m struggling, so I’m going to try something new.

“The play is about themes close to my heart, about the really damaging cult of beauty among young girls.”
