Ellen DeGeneres has quit ‘American Idol’, while Kara DioGuardi has reportedly been sacked.

The talk show host decided to quit her judging role after just one season because it wasn’t the “right fit” for her, while the pretty songwriter is said to have been asked to leave as part of a shakeup of the programme following head judge Simon Cowell’s departure.

Explaining her departure in a statement, Ellen said, “A couple months ago, I let FOX and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for.

“I also realised this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had, I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

Meanwhile, gossip website TMZ reports that the show will return to having just three judges, with Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith star Steven Tyler favourites to join Randy Jackson.

The website states, “Sources connected with the ‘American Idol’ negotiations tell TMZ Kara DioGuardi has judged her last contestant on ‘American Idol’ – because she’s been fired.

“We’re told the show will be going back to a three-judge format and assuming all deals are finalised, the judge’s panel will consist of Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

“We’re told the only way Kara could get a reprieve is if the J-Lo deal falls apart – but we’re told that deal is done.”

Singer-and-actress Jennifer has reportedly been in talks with show boss Simon Fuller for several weeks.

Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend claims to have witnesses who saw the actor attack her.

Oksana Grigorieva, who has a nine-month-old daughter Lucia with Mel, has accused the 54-year-old actor of pulling a handgun on her following an explosive row, in which he is believed to have broken her two front teeth and threatened her with a bat.

Sources say the witnesses have not come forward yet but they will tell the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department they saw Mel punch Oksana on January 6 during the row at her home, according to gossip website TMZ.

It is believed one of the witnesses is someone who works with the 40-year-old Russian singer on her music.

It has also been claimed at least one of the third party witnesses saw Mel pull the gun on Oksana after he allegedly punched her.

Meanwhile, a woman who claims to have had a relationship with Mel between July 2009 and January 2010 has come forward to say he has an “anger problem”.

Violet Kowal, who started seeing Mel after he separated from Robyn, his wife of 28 years, and two months after news of Oksana’s pregnancy broke, told E! News, “I think he has an anger problem. When he gets angry, he gets really angry.”

She explained, “He can snap. The nice guy can suddenly be a guy who is angry and aggressive.”

And Violet revealed that while Mel was “gentle” at first and gave her money to “treat herself”, he quickly turned nasty when their relationship was made public.

She said, “He got very angry. He called me up. He was very scary. He was screaming. He said he would make me suffer. He didn’t want the relationship to come out. He blamed me for the situation. He called me up, he screamed at me and threatened me on the phone. He was furious. He was losing it.”

If the latest scuttlebutt is to be believed about the recent reunion of Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol and her babydaddy Levi Johnston, the rekindling is off after Palin discovered that Johnston didn’t learn his lesson the first time.

Bristol’s BFFs say she’s “heartbroken” over the revelation that Johnston might be a dad again, but the rumors also say that Levi is one of three potential suspects ex-girlfriend Lanesia Garcia bedded during the “probable week of conception.” Seriously, who has that kind of time?

Levi insists the baby isn’t his, but no one really knows for sure,” a source told RadarOnline.com exclusively.

Lindsay Lohan doesn’t have a “pillow to sleep on” in jail, according to her mother.

Dina Lohan insists the troubled actress, who is due to be released from the Century Regional Correctional Facility in Lynwood, California, over the next few days, is being treated like every other “common criminal”, but says the guards and other inmates have been fair to her.

Discussing claims Lindsay has access to a cell phone behind bars, Dina said, “She doesn’t have cell phone privileges, that’s absurd. She doesn’t even have a pillow to sleep on.

“I talk to her through glass. There’s a phone and we put her on speaker but I can’t even hug my daughter. She’s treated like a common criminal.

“I have to say that the people inside have been pretty cool to her… the guards and the inmates.”

Lindsay was sentenced to spend 90 days in prison, followed by 90 days in rehab, after violating the terms of her probation for her 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

She entered jail on July 20 and is expected to be released on either Sunday, August 1, or Monday, August 2, when she will have just 24 hours to begin a court-ordered rehab stay.

Lindsay’s family are thrilled she is about to be released from jail and that this “extremely harsh punishment” is coming to an end.

Dina told RadarOnline.com, “We’re all so happy that this is finally coming to a close. When this first happened, we were all hysterical messes. But I’m so proud of Lindsay, she’s been so strong and positive, even under what I consider to be a extremely harsh punishment.”

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old actress’ estranged father Michael Lohan, who has regularly accused his daughter of being a addicted to prescription drugs, has asked the Attorney General of California, Jerry Brown, to investigate Lindsay’s doctors for overprescribing her medications.

Gossip website TMZ has got a copy of a legal letter which asks for an investigation into the “unscrupulous doctors” who “overprescribe medications to Lindsay… in violation of California law”.

Cheryl Cole has thanked doctors for “saving her life”.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer was struck down with malaria earlier this month and has now paid tribute to the team of doctors and nurses who treated her, saying without them she might not be alive.

She told experts at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases at University College London, “I want to say how grateful I am for everything you guys have done. I wouldn’t be here now if it wasn’t for you.”

The pop star is now planning to make a donation to the NHS medical centre to show staff just how appreciative she is of their help.

An insider told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “It’s something she’s given serious thought to. She’s so grateful for their expertise and care. The situation was looking very bleak at one point.

“Her blood count was dangerously low, she had fluid on her lungs and she was jaundiced. But she was in the best possible place. The doctors there are first class and Cheryl knew afterwards she virtually owes her life to them.”

Cheryl, 27, has been holed up in her Surrey mansion for the past few weeks recovering, although she made her first trip out this week to a local Starbucks coffee shop.

Her rumoured boyfriend Derek Hough has been getting her back to full strength by cooking the petite star an array of tasty treats from his home country America, including his specialty macaroni and cheese.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “Derek’s been brilliant during her recovery. He’s been really hands on, treating her to his home cooking. His signature dish is mac n’ cheese, which has been the favourite in Cheryl’s home. Even mum Joan’s a fan.”

Lady Gaga’s boyfriend Luc Carl dumped his girlfriend to get back together with the pop star.

New York-barman Luc has been close to Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, for four years, and the pair rekindled their romance after she returned to the ‘Big Apple’ to visit him last month.

The ‘Alejandro’ singer was unaware Luc was dating someone else when she went to see him and the hunk ditched his other love when he knew Gaga was interested in him again.

A friend of the ‘Poker Face’ singer’s said, “Luc was like the cat that got the cream. He had the most famous woman in the world vying for his attention and a hot young blonde waiting in the wings.

“It could have ended really badly, but the other girl melted into the background. She knows what Luc’s like – he has women all over the place… Gaga has convinced herself that this time she’s got Luc back for good.

“She says it’s serious and that, after a few false starts, she thinks they are back on for good.”

Gaga first met Luc when she was working in New York club St. Jerome’s in 2006, but rekindled their friendship when she invited him to a New York Mets baseball game in June.

Since then the pair have been “together”, with Gaga even flying Luc out to join her on her ‘Monster Ball’ tour in Houston, Texas.

However, Luc’s mother Melinda is not over-enthusiastic about their reunion, because the relationship ended badly last time.

She told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “They had a very nasty break-up last time. And I have no idea how this will end. I deliberately haven’t talked to him about what’s going on. With those two, you never know.”

Carrie Underwood is too busy to have children.

The country singer, who recently wed hockey player Mike Comrie, and her new husband are planning to have children together, but the sportsman admits it won’t be for a long time.

He said, “We obviously want kids, but that’s down the road.

“Now is not the time, especially with our busy schedules, everything we’ve got going on. We don’t know exactly when, but definitely we will.”

Mike also described married life as “awesome”, admitting he couldn’t be happier.

When asked how life as a newlywed is going, he replied, “It’s awesome. I’m with my best friend and I love her to death. There’s nothing better, for sure.”

Speaking about their wedding day, the 30-year-old sport star said it passed in a “blur” but he and the 27-year-old singer were thrilled with their big day, which took place in Georgia in front of 230 guests, though they wish more people could have been there.

He added in an interview with the Toronto Sun newspaper, Carrie Underwood“The whole weekend is almost like a blur.

“The ceremony was really nice, the pastor did a great job, the reception was a lot of fun. Just to have everyone close to us around was a big deal. A wedding’s not nearly as much fun without those close family and friends with you.

“We tried to get as many people as we could. The thing was, we didn’t want it to be too huge and not be able to see everyone, either.

“The whole day was great. It was everything we both wanted it to be.”

Avril Lavigne is “very happy” with her new boyfriend Brody Jenner.

The ‘Girlfriend’ singer, who started dating ‘The Hills’ star in February after filing for divorce from her husband, Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley, last October, and her new lover are very settled in their relationship, according to Brody’s close friend Audrina Patridge.

Audrina, who starred with him in ‘The Hills’ said, “They’re very happy together, they’re really good together. A lovely couple.”

Audrina also revealed the pop star has fitted in well within their friendship group, because she is such a “nice girl”.

She exclusively told BANG Showbiz, “I first met her a couple of years ago, and thought she was such a nice girl then. She’s still a really nice girl now, and is really very talented. She’s so great.”

Avril and Brody have grown closer and closer in recent months, and recently proved their dedication to one another by having matching tattoos.

Avril has a ‘Brody’ inking next to her right breast, while Brody’s ‘Avril’ tattoo is on his inner arm.

It is also believed they are planning to show the world their romance in a reality TV show based solely around their union.

Katy Perry says her parents were strict with her because they didn’t want her to “turn out like a prostitute”.

The pop star has always enjoyed rebelling against her Christian pastor parents Keith and Mary Hudson and regularly tested their rules when she was growing up.

She joked to Q magazine, “Some people are fascinated with the idea of a great storyline: good girl, Christian parents, goes bad… My song ‘I Kissed A Girl’ provided the perfect storyline, so it’s entertaining for people. My parents were really strict at first, because they didn’t want me to turn out like a prostitute.

“There’s a button that all kids have with their parents. It’s like this red button that we push. And the paint has chipped off of my red button in a few places because of the constant pushing.”

Katy, who got engaged to reformed ladies’ man Russell Brand in December after a whirlwind romance, is still upsetting her parents now by agreeing to be a part of ‘The Smurfs’ film.

The 25-year-old singer voices the character of Smurfette in the new animated movie, which is based on the 80s cartoon series about the miniature blue-skinned characters, and has revealed her mother and father disapproved of the show when she was a child.

She added, “My parents felt that the Smurfs’ reliance on sorcery and magic was sending the wrong messages to me as a child. But it seems I am destined to push my mother’s red button.

“They stopped me watching ‘The Smurfs’ and I f***ing became one. They banned me from eating sugar and I got sugar. I cannot be f***ing well stopped, baby!”

I’ve previously written about Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Thor movie. Last time all I could show you was a image of Thor, Odin and Loke (as us closest to the Norse gods call him). In this almost 5 minute long trailer we see a lot more details. Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulsen, who we first met in Iron Man 2, get a lot more screen time. He is replacing Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) as the SHIELD representative in the Thor movie.

Chris Hemsworth looks very Scandinavian (if I let my hair and beard grow you couldn’t tell us apart), Asgård doesn’t look like I imagined it, but that’s ok. I’m still not sure Anthony Hopkins is the right choice as Odin, but it’s very cool that he has accepted the role. Tim Hiddlesworth (Loke) looks very scheming and like a god that shouldn’t be trusted. Let’s not forget the last 20 seconds of the trailer featuring the Odin-forged suit of armor known as Destroyer. Thor better get a hold of his hammer pretty quick. Though I have a feeling we won’t see Destroyer until the end of the movie. It’s an obvious adversary for The Avengers.
