Report: Charlize Theron and Stuart Townsend split

The Daily Mail is reporting that Charlize Theron and longtime boyfriend Stuart Townsend have split, although Theron denies the couple have parted ways.

Theron, 34, and Townsend, 37, have been an item for nine years. Much has been made of the relative success of their careers, as Theron has featured in many high profile roles and won an Oscar, and Townsend’s work has been far lower in profile. The Mail quotes Theron on the effect of the disparity on their relationship:

Charlize and Townsend met in 2001 when they co-starred in the thriller Trapped. Her career subsequently took off, thanks to films such as Hancock and Monster, for which she won the Best Actress Oscar, as well as a £10million deal to be the ‘face’ of the Christian Dior perfume J’Adore.

But her boyfriend has enjoyed less success, with credits including a supporting role in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen and a starring role in the American television series Night Stalker, which was cancelled after just six episodes.

Charlize – whose latest film The Road opened in the UK this month – once said: ‘Living with another actor, you always feel guilty if things are going your way and it’s not going that way for the other person.’

Sources say the actress has been spotted in public several times since Christmas without her “commitment ring.”

DC Comics’ The Losers trailer – nothing but fun

I don’t get very excited about movie trailers because most of the time they end up being the better than the actual movie. In this case however I am really hoping that this trailer for the new movie The Losers is only a sample of how much fun this movie is going to be.

Never mind thought provoking soul searching acting or brain sucking sugar rush inducing romance there’s nothing better than totally wasting 90 minutes or more watching a movie that is just mindless blow shit up good.

Welcome to The Losers.

Cheryl Cole Set to Whip Fans in Her Sexy Tour

Cheryl Cole will dance around the stage with whips during her “sexy” solo tour.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer reportedly wants her “raunchy” concerts to be based around a bondage theme as she breaks away from her Girls Aloud bandmates and performs on her own for the first time – whilst wearing leather, PVC and tight, revealing corsets.

A source said, “This is going to be the biggest thing Cheryl has ever done – not to mention the raunchiest.

“Think Madonna’s ‘Sticky + Sweet’ shows with whips. Cheryl’s costumes on tour will be all about slashed-to-the-thigh numbers, plunging corsets, racy leather and PVC outfits, and plenty of bling. “Girls will be jealous and guys will be drooling. It’ll be fantastic. Sexy, but classy.”

The 26-year-old beauty has decided to make her shows as visually impressive as possible after learning the tour will take her to some of the world’s most glamorous cities.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper, “Cheryl will be performing in fashion capitals including Paris and Milan, so she is determined to make her show spectacular.”

Cheryl has been given the opportunity to perform alone after being invited to support the Black Eyed Peas on their ‘The E.N.D. World Tour’.

This is not the first time the British songstress has worked closely with the band – Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo.

In 2007, Cheryl appeared on will.i.am’s solo single ‘Heartbreaker’, and then worked with the producer again her debut solo record ‘3 Words’.

Meanwhile, the brunette beauty is preparing to support her husband, soccer star Ashley Cole, as he faces court today, January 29.

The England player is due to appear at Kingston Magistrates’ Court, in Surrey, for sentencing after he was found guilty of driving his Lamborghini sports car at over 100mph in a 50mph zone.

Ashley, 29, claims he was speeding to escape pursuing paparazzi, but faces a possible driving ban.

Anne Hathaway Gets Her Hasty Pudding Award

Anne Hathaway was flanked by men in drag as she received her Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year Award from Harvard University yesterday, January 28.

The ‘Devil Wears Prada’ actress braved the rain as she rode through a parade in her honor in the back of a convertible red car and clutching a giant bouquet of flowers.

She was then brought on stage at Harvard’s New College theatre for a ceremonial roast from the prestigious American university’s Hasty Pudding Theatrical group – America’s oldest undergraduate drama club – where they playfully mocked her.

But the 27-year-old beauty was happy to play along and showed off her wrestling skills, sword-wielding and singing abilities.

Anne finished the ceremony with an acceptance speech composed in rhymed couplets, which included, “I feel warm and gooey inside/My rump is swollen with pride.”

She also joked she expects any future children she has to have no problem getting into Harvard when they apply.

The annual award from the prestigious Massachusetts college is given to entertainers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment”.

Justin Timberlake will receive the men’s honor next month.

Miley Cyrus to Join Demi Moore in ‘LOL: Laughing Out Loud’

Miley Cyrus is to star in a remake of French film ‘LOL: Laughing Out Loud’.

The 17-year-old actress has already been cast in the movie and is rumored to be appearing alongside 47-year-old Demi Moore.

The original film, which starred former Bond girl Sophie Marceau, tells the story of a mother and daughter struggling to maintain their relationship following a marriage breakdown.

It is the latest in a string of movie roles Miley has landed which will move her into mainstream cinema following the success she enjoyed as the star of the ‘Hannah Montana’ franchise.

Last year, she filmed a cameo appearance in ‘Sex and the City 2’ and this year she will appear in drama ‘The Last Song’ alongside her boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Miley recently indicated she wanted to step away from being a teen idol.

She said, “My job is to be a role model, and that’s what I want to do, but my job isn’t to be a parent.

“My job isn’t to tell your kids how to act or how not to act, because I’m still figuring that out for myself. So to take that way from me is a bit selfish.

“Your kids are going to make mistakes whether I do or not. That’s just life.”

Rihanna Grieves for Leukemia Girl

Rihanna has been left devastated by the death of a six-year-old girl who was suffering from leukemia.

The ‘Umbrella’ singer helped find Jasmina Anema, who was diagnosed with NK cell leukemia, a particularly aggressive and rare form of the cancer, 13 months ago, a compatible donor for her bone marrow transplant last year and is “heartbroken” after she lost her fight for life on Wednesday, January 27.

Rihanna said, “I am incredibly heartbroken that Jasmina has passed away. She was such a brave and special child. She showed more strength and spirit than many adults I have met. I feel blessed that I was able to have her in my life, and know that through her example she has saved many lives. She was truly an angel on earth.”

Jasmina was admitted to NYU Langone Medical Center on Monday, January 25, after experiencing trouble breathing.

Doctors diagnosed her with having pneumonia in both lungs and her condition quickly deteriorated.

Following her death, Jasmina’s mother posted a message on the twitter page she had set up for her daughter.

She wrote, “At 10:55 on January 27th, after a long battle, Jasmina lost her fight with leukemia. Thanks for all of your support.”

After hearing about Jasmina’s plight last February, Rihanna got involved with charity DKMS Americas to help find a compatible bone-marrow donor for her.

She was joined in her cause by singer Kelly Rowland and New York Governor David Paterson and they soon found a match before Jasmina had the surgery in June.

Simon Cowell Offers Susan Boyle a Luxury Holiday

Simon Cowell has offered to pay for Susan Boyle to have a luxury holiday.

The 48-year-old star was left shaken after returning to her home in West Lothian, Scotland on Tuesday, January 26, to find an intruder in the property, prompting the music mogul to insist he would provide the cash for an all-expenses paid break to help her get over the ordeal.

But Susan said she’d rather stay at home with her cat Pebbles.

A source said, “Simon had a lengthy chat with her and said he would do anything to help. He offered her a wonderfully relaxing holiday to get away from everything.

“She said it was a sweet offer but wanted to stay at home and, if she changed her mind, she would call him.”

The ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ singer had been recording vocals for Simon’s Haiti charity single before heading back home to find the man halfway up her stairs.

Upon being discovered the startled intruder ran past the scared music star.

A friend said, “Susan got home to find an intruder halfway up her stairs. She was with another female, who was dropping her off, and only expected to be with her for a couple of minutes – but it is just as well she was.”

Multi-millionaire Simon has also reportedly hired an Edinburgh-based security firm to provide round-the-clock protection for Susan – who shot to fame after finishing runner-up on his talent show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

Mariah Carey on Dressing Down for ‘Precious’

Mariah Carey enjoyed dressing down for ‘Precious…’

The usually immaculately dressed singer, who plays dowdy social worker Miss Weiss alongside Lenny Kravitz and Gabourey Sidib in ‘Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire’ loved stripping off her make-up and quality clothes for the part.

She said, “A lot of people didn’t recognize me, and I was actually happy about that. It wouldn’t have worked if it had been any other way.”

But the singer-and-actress, renowned for her diva-like demands, did find it difficult to adapt to being unglamorous.

She added, “I tried to put a little blusher on and Lee (director Lee Daniels) caught me, and he said, ‘No! You’re not having anything!”

Mariah, 39, previously revealed her own friends and family barely recognized her in the role because she looked so different.

She said, “It was cool, because a lot of people didn’t recognize me – they don’t notice me – and that to me, was the great gift that Lee gave me.”

Mel Gibson Still Has Lots to Give

Mel Gibson returned to acting because he realized he still had something to offer.

The ‘Braveheart’ star, who has spent the last eight years behind the camera directing movies such as the successful yet controversial ‘The Passion of the Christ’ and the action-adventure ‘Apocalypto,’ realized he should go back to being an actor because there was so much more he could do with the “good piece of material” which had suddenly come his way.

He said, “Well, I walked away from it after ‘Signs’ because I just felt I was stale and I needed to maybe… it wasn’t ringing my bells. So I focused on directing and writing and producing and all that kind of stuff, and then it was time to come back.

“I got the acting bug back because I felt like, all of a sudden, maybe after all these years, I might have something to offer again. That coincided with a very good piece of material. If it wasn’t ‘Edge of Darkness’, it would have been something else, but this was the best thing that I saw.”

The Hollywood actor, who stars in the new action movie ‘Edge of Darkness’ where he plays a detective investigating the murder of his activist daughter, said being a good director was about listening to those around him.

He told website film.com, “You hang around the hub and watch what’s going on, and ask a bunch of questions. You’re there for the inception of an idea. You’re there to see it executed. You’re there to doubt it. And you’re there to share the fruits of victory or failure. So, it’s like a big science experiment… how can you not pick it up?”
