Avatar director and thin-skinned man James Cameron had a few words to say about “fanboys” who dared to suggest that his blockbuster Avatar has borrowed the visual style used in Microsoft and Bungie’s series of Halo games. Speaking to G4 about the comparisons between the two, Cameron muttered:

“The funniest thing is when some of the so-called fanboys get up trashing Avatar for looking too much like Halo. Pay attention. If I’m referencing anything, I’m referencing the source work for Halo, which is my own stuff. So I get to do that. Nobody else gets to do that, but I get to do that. My rule, anyway.”

Calm down, JC! Mind you, as arsey as Cameron is getting about this, I do actually agree with the mad old sod here – in fact, sci-fi games as a genre owe a hell of a lot to Alien and its ilk. As resplendent as the first Halo game was (before the series began going slightly downhill), it probably owes Cameron a pint or three.

In other James-Cameron-talks-gaming news, the Canadian director says he could see Avatar having a life of its own as a game series, even if a film sequel was never made. Of course, there already is James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game, though apparently it’s, er, a bit rubbish.

While I will try and restrain myself from making any comments about her acting abilities there is no doubt that Megan Fox is one hot looking young lady. I’m guessing that the folks at Armani must feel the same because they have just named her as their model for the new Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear and Jeans line.

Beyonce Knowles wants to take a six-month break from music.

The ‘Crazy in Love’ singer, who is married to hip-hop mogul Jay-Z – thinks she worked too hard last year and needs time off to focus more on her personal life, including spending time with her five-year-old nephew Daniel.

She said, “It’s definitely time to take a break, to recharge my batteries. I’d like to take about six months and not go into the studio. I need to just live life, to be inspired by things again.

“I’m going to do random things. I want to go to restaurants, maybe take a class and see some movies and Broadway shows.

“I’ll spend more time with Daniel. He’s a wonderful kid, amazing, so smart. And I spoil him, so it’s a lot of work. He’s a 24-hour job.”

However, Beyonce, 28, admits she will find her music sabbatical tough.

She said in an interview with the USA Today newspaper, “It will be the hardest thing in the world for me to make myself not do an album and shoot a video and turn it in and say, ‘I’m ready!’ I already have all these melodies and ideas in my head. I have to tell myself, ‘Sit down! Sit down!’ “

22-year-old Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim, son of Cybill Shepherd, was arrested at a Philadelphia airport around midnight for allegedly stealing from the carry-on bags of several other passengers mid-flight.

Shepherd-Oppenheim is accused of stealing a digital camera, a leather make-up case, a small travel bag and cash from two passengers on the United Airlines flight. Two passengers from the cross-country flight originating from San Francisco identified Shepherd’s son as the individual who stole the items during the flight. He was taken to an airport holding cell where missing items from the two alleged victims are said to have been recovered. Shepherd-Oppenheim was charged with receiving stolen property and theft.

Cyrus Shepherd-Oppenheim is the son of Cybill Shepherd and chiropractor Bruce Oppenheim. The pair divorced in 1989. Cyrus, who goes by the name Zack, has a twin sister, Ariel Shepherd-Oppenheim.

Jude Law is set to propose to Sienna Miller.

The ‘Alfie’ actor, who first got engaged to ‘Factory Girl’ star Sienna in 2004, has rekindled his romance with the actress in recent months and is now ready to make her his fiancee again.

A source said, “Sienna was always the one. And now she is back in his life he never wants to let her go again.

“Jude did some serious thinking over Christmas in Britain with his ex-wife Sadie and the kids. And he realizes just how important family life is to him.

“He needs a good woman to look after him. Sienna’s fed up of the single life and wants to be with Jude for good.”

Sienna’s family are believed to be preparing themselves for a big announcement in the coming weeks.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper, “It’s only a matter of time before Jude pops the question. He and Sienna have never been happier together.”

Jude and Sienna spent the festive period on the Caribbean island of Barbados together with his three children, Rafferty, Iris and Rudy, from his marriage to Sadie.

Last year, Jude became a father for the fourth time after American model Samantha Burke fell pregnant following a brief relationship.

Tobey Maguire has pulled out of ‘Spider-Man 4’.

The actor, who has portrayed the titular character and his alter-ego Peter Parker for the past three movies, and the film’s director Sam Raimi won’t be returning after clashing with producers over the script.

Sam said, “While Tobey and I were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job.”

Sony Pictures, who are making the movie, insist the project will still go ahead but will now be released in 2012, instead of next year as previously planned.

However, it is thought they will now make a prequel about Peter Parker as a teenager instead, meaning Kirsten Dunst, who played love interest Mary Jane Watson – will also not return.

Director Sam has previously suggested the franchise would be taking a more mature direction.

He said, “I’ve been talking with Tobey about where his character might grow to in this instalment. Parker started as a little bit of a selfish, naive and insecure high school kid … In the second picture, he wrestled with his personal fulfilment versus that responsibility and, in the third film, I think it was a little bit about his growing hubris.”

26-year-old socialite and model Brittny Gastineau was a small child when her father left her mother for Brigitte Nielsen in the 1980s.

So it’s not very surprising the that child born of Mark Gastineau’s affair with Nielsen later the next year would be a stranger to the family he abandoned. While Brittny remains close with her mother (and co-star of The Gastineau Girls), she has not seen her father in 17 years. But this weekend Brittany and half brother Killian Marcus Gastineau met for the first time.

Brittny tells People that the existence of her brother was never a secret to her but that “he was totally off the radar. It was like he didn’t exist.” Things changed when Lisa Gastineau and Brigitte Nielsen crossed paths at Ivana Trump’s wedding last year. The two exchanged numbers, and last week Nielsen informed Gastineau that her son was “in town” and wanted to meet his sister. The two families convened last weekend, says People:

So, Brittny and her mother met Nielsen and her husband Mattia Dessi, along with Marcus, for dinner at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills.

“It was very weird and surreal,” says Brittny, who hasn’t been in touch with her father for several years. “I didn’t cry. I’m too tough to cry. But we hugged, we talked about old stories. He said he watched Gastineau Girls in Italy, so he knew what I looked like.”

Brittny says she plans to keep in touch with her new little brother, despite linguistic differences stemming from his upbringing in Italy.

Sir Paul McCartney is reportedly making secret preparations to marry US heiress Nancy Shevell.

The Beatles legend is said to be keen to tie the knot for a third time with Nancy, his girlfriend of nearly two years, and organized a family meet up in the Caribbean earlier this month to discuss their future together with his children.

A friend of the 67-year-old musician told the Daily Express newspaper, “Paul and Nancy’s relationship is rock solid and there’s no mad hurry for a wedding.

“Next year has certainly been mentioned as the most likely time, but neither of them want some big deal made out of it.

“It’s almost certainly going to be done very discreetly over in the US and Paul would ideally like to do it without any publicity beforehand, but whether he could pull that off is another matter.”

Heather Mills – Paul’s second wife and mother to his youngest daughter, six-year-old Beatrice – has been informed of his plans to tie the knot with 48-year-old Nancy, according to friends.

Charity campaigner Heather was married to ‘Let It Be’ singer Paul from 2002 to 2008, when they went through a bitter divorce, in which she secured a $35.2 million payout for her and Beatrice.

Paul’s first marriage, to vegetarian frozen food pioneer Linda, was one of the most happy and successful in showbiz, lasting from 1968 until her death from cancer in 1997.

New York-based Nancy is a businesswoman of high standing, and holds the position of Vice President of Administration at her father’s company, New England Motor Freight.

Katy Perry has sparked rumors she is pregnant after being seen looking at baby clothes.

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer, who recently announced her engagement to British comic star Russell Brand, took a stroll around some children’s shops in Hampstead, London, on Sunday, January 10.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “Russell and Katy had a wander around Hampstead. They visited children’s shoe shop Cubs and had a lot of fun checking out all the little bootees.

“They then went to Cafe Rouge for a bit of lunch. Katy ordered scrambled eggs and asked for the eggs to be ‘well done’. And when Russell asked for a portion of chips she loudly announced to the waiter, ‘Hold the mayo’.”

Pregnant women are not allowed to eat freshly made mayonnaise because the recipe contains uncooked eggs, which are considered a health risk to unborn babies.

Katy, 25, has further fueled the rumors by posting several cryptic messages on her twitter page.

In a posting on New Year’s Day, January 1, she said, “It’s noon on Jan 1st here in the future, let me tell you 2010 is BUMPIN! (sic)”

She then wrote to Russell, “I heard ur prego-ed.”

She then messaged gossip blogger Perez Hilton, saying, “Boy do I have storrrrries!(sic)”

Kelly Osbourne hates wearing bikinis.

The 25-year-old star got super-fit while competing on US TV talent show ‘Dancing with the Stars’, on which she came third, but although she lost a lot of weight training for the programme she still isn’t keen on slipping into swimwear on the beach.

Kelly, who was photographed last week in a blue bikini said, “Although I’m still in good shape from doing ‘Dancing with the Stars’ I’m not entirely comfortable being photographed in my swimwear.”

Kelly, who was on a family holiday at the Kahala Resort in Hawaii when she was snapped, admits she was upset the paparazzi managed to find her and fiance Luke Worrall on a private beach.

She revealed in Closer magazine, “Our hotel has a private beach, when means paparazzi can’t get in. But somehow they managed to swim to some rocks to take pictures of me and my family hanging out. I was expecting to put on weight after the show, but I’ve actually lost a few more pounds. I think my metabolism is just faster now.”
