Reports online are today claiming that Jay Reatard’s death may have been a homicide, although a solid source is strangely absent.

According to the original report from a local Fox affiliate, “Memphis Police are searching for a possible suspect in Wednesday’s death of Memphis musician Jay Reatard at his Cooper-Young home.”

The report was picked up by multiple other sites, who linked back to the Fox affiliate. But then something strange happened: MyFox Memphis completely pulled the story. We checked to see whether it had simply changed to another part of their site (suggesting maybe a changed link,) and came up with nothing.

Google Cache though was kind enough to keep a copy of the original page here.

Given that there are now zero media sites from the area reporting that Jay Reatard’s death is being treated as a homicide, and indeed other media sites quote police saying that foul play was not suspected, we’re calling it an unsubstantiated report at this stage. We can only guess that the Fox affiliate pulled the story based on it being false, given no other comment from them.

Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) – British alt-rock group Coldplay is facing yet another plagiarism lawsuit. The Grammy Award winners are sued by a self-proclaimed “well-talented” yet “unknown” songwriter, who alleges that they stole three of his songs.

Sammie Lee Smith filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court, saying he wrote the Coldplay hits “Yellow,” “Clocks,” and “Trouble” but the group stole them from him.

According to the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Smith “recorded approximately 100 tapes, each tape containing approximately 40 songs” in 1976.

He wants Coldplay to stop playing his songs. He is also asking for an undetermined amount as damage payment.

The group – lead singer Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer Will Champion – were also sued by musician Joe Satriani in 2008 for allegedly ripping off his 2004 track “If I Could Fly” to their “Viva La Vida” song. He subsequently dropped the lawsuit.

Her debut single, “Tik Tok,” is already nearing the 3 million mark in digital sales. The newcomer also scores a second single in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 this week. “Blah Blah Blah,” with “Don’t Trust Me” singers 3OH!3, debuted at #2 in digital sales, selling over 205,000 in its first week. The song, also from “Animal,” debuts at #7 on the chart.

Lady Gaga remains at #2 for another week with “Bad Romance,” while Jay-Z and Alicia Keys move up to #3 from #4 last week. Iyaz’s “Replay” moves down to #4 from #3. Owl City remains at #5 this week with the hit “Fireflies.” David Guetta also remains unmoved from last week at #6 with “Sexy B—-,” featuring Akon.

Young Money cracks the top 10 at #8 with “BedRock,” featuring Lloyd, which moves up from #12 last week. Rihanna also earns a peak position for her latest single “Hard,” which moves up to #9 from #15 last week. Rounding out the top 10 is Jay Sean and Lil Wayne with “Down,” which drops from #7 last week to #10.

Harrison Ford has been told to “stick to acting”.

The ‘Indiana Jones’ actor, who earlier this week branded a move made seven years ago by Mayor Daley of Chicago to bulldoze an airport “unthinkable” – has been hit back at by the mayor who said he should stop flaunting his wealth.

He said, “He’s a multi-millionaire. He can fly anyplace he wants in the country. This guy’s a multi-millionaire and you’re listening to him… he doesn’t live in Chicago. I don’t want to call him elitist, but it is. He has a jet. He has all these planes and all these toys. And he doesn’t understand this economy is tough with people and that lakefront belongs to us.”

The pair have previously clashed during a discussion over the actor’s passion for preserving 100 acres in Costa Rica, in which the mayor criticized the actor’s lavish estate in Montana.

He told the Chicago Sun Times newspaper, “I said, ‘Harrison, you’re a multi-millionaire. You have a huge estate. You have land all over the world. This is 100 acres for the people of Chicago that can be used for nature. You’re an environmentalist.’

“I think he got mad at me. I said, ‘I appreciate you’re a great actor, but you should have some feeling because you’re so wealthy… I want to help people in Costa Rica. But in Chicago, that 100 acres, that lakefront belongs – not to you. It belongs to the people of Chicago.’ That’s what he didn’t understand.”

Anne Hathaway is to be honored by Harvard University.

The actress will be named as Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year next month, in a ceremony where she will have to lead a parade through the streets surrounding the prestigious Massachusetts college.

The legendary award is given to entertainers who have made a “lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment”.

Although it is a prestigious award, Anne may be left embarrassed by what she may have to do to receive it.

Last year’s winner Renee Zellweger was persuaded to put on a fat suit while the male recipient James Franco was made to milk a “gay cow” to mark his work in the movie ‘Milk’.

Past recipients of Hasty Pudding’s Woman of the Year award include Meryl Streep, Katharine Hepburn, Julia Roberts, Jodie Foster, Dame Elizabeth Taylor and Charlize Theron.

Men to be given the male honour include Clint Eastwood, Tom Cruise, Robert De Niro, Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken.

It has not yet been revealed which male star will take the honor this year.

The supermodel had a passionate affair with the heir to Italy’s now abolished throne, Prince Emmanuele Filiberto Umberto Reza Maria Di Savoia, in 2002.

The royal, who lives in exile in Switzerland, was introduced to the supermodel by singer Marianne Faithful when they visited him in Corsica.

Prince Emmanuelle, 37, said, “We were together about eight months and she was a fascinating woman, not weird at all.

“She came on a yacht to my house in Corsica. She was meant to stay three days but stayed three weeks.”

Emmanuele has fond memories of his time with 35-year-old Kate – who is currently dating The Kills rocker Jamie Hince and has a seven-year-old daughter Lila Grace from a previous relationship – and even penned a song to commemorate their affair.

34-year-old actor Antwon Tanner of the CW’s One Tree Hill was sentenced to three months in jail in a federal court in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Tanner pleaded guilty in August to identity theft charges for his role in the sale of more than a dozen fake Social Security Numbers for $10,000. A federal judge in Brooklyn gave Tanner until April 30th to report to prison. Had the case gone to trial, Tanner could have been jailed for up to ten years. Upon his release, Tanner must serve an additional five months of home confinement.

Tanner was caught in a sting trying to sell sixteen fake numbers and three cards, and admitted to knowledge that the numbers would be used to fraudulently purchase items. Had Tanner rejected the plea, in addition to ten years in prison, the actor could have been slapped with a $250,000 fine. The CW has not commented on the actor’s arrest, nor have they addressed his future on One Tree Hill.

Katy Perry has revealed she is not pregnant.

The ‘I Kissed A Girl’ singer was rumoured to be expecting fiance Russell Brand’s baby but insists the rumours couldn’t be further from the truth because she is currently on her period.

She told one of her followers on social networking site twitter: “ur gonna make me cry, maybe that’s my period tho. THAT’S RIGHT I’M BLEEDING. Face. Better luck next month peepz. (sic)”

A sex tape allegedly starring Lindsay Lohan is reportedly about to be made public.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress, who recently filmed a documentary about child trafficking in India, is said to be the star of a 47-second clip which could be about to appear on the internet.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “The video film is dynamite. It is pretty seedy and shows Lindsay engaged in a particular sex act which, obviously, should remain behind closed doors.

“Lindsay was desperate to start 2010 off on a good footing and this is the very last thing she needs. If and when it is released on the internet, via a spurious, unofficial website, there is absolutely nothing she or her lawyers can do about it.”

Pornographic magazine Hustler is said to be offering $162,000 for the video, which was filmed by a waiter from a chain restaurant.
