Los Angeles, CA, United States (CNS) – Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock are both so superb in their acting that critics couldn’t choose between them. The women were stunned when their names were both called for the Best Actress trophy at the Critics Choice Awards on Friday.
“Bullsh**!” Bullock told the audience during her acceptance speech. “I did not prepare. This is an honor. It is a great honor to be in the company of the extraordinary women I was so lucky to be nominated with, because this one here inspired me to do everything better.”
“For the critics, I bet you never saw this coming. You might never again.”
Bullock, who won for “The Blind Side,” kissed her co-winner “Juie & Julia” star Streep full on the mouth to show her appreciation for the honor.
Jeff Bridges, meanwhile, was the lone winner for Best Actor for his role in “Crazy Heart.”
“Inglourous Basterds” was victorious at the event. Not only did Quentin Tarantino edge out the others for Best Original Screenplay, the film also took home Best Acting Ensemble and Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz.
“The Hurt Locker” was also a big winner with Best Picture and Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow.
“Avatar,” as expected, did not go home unloaded. It was named Best Action Movie, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, Best Art Direction, and Best Cinematography.
