Franklin, TN, United States (CNS) – Country music singer Carl Smith has died at the age of 82. Known as “Mister Country,” he passed away on Saturday at his home in Franklin, Tennessee.

Former Grand Ole Opry announcer Keith Bilbrey told New York Times that Smith recently suffered a stroke and had been in failing health.

Smith had 41 chart singles during the ’50s, including his hits “Let’s Live a Little,” “If Teardrops Were Pennies,” and “Let Old Mother Nature Have Her Way,” all of which established his name in country music.

He married fellow Grand Ole Opry member June Carter in 1952. They had one child together, singer Carlene Carter, before they divorced in 1956. He married “I Let the Stars Get in My Eyes” hitmaker Goldie Hill the following year.

Smith hosted “Carl Smith’s Country Music Hall” in Canada in the ’60s. The series was syndicated in the U.S.

He retired from the music industry in 1978 to become a gentleman horse breeder. In 2003, he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville.

He is survived by daughters Carlene and Lori Lynn Smith, sons Carl Jr. and Dean, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The first official MacGruber movie trailer has been released today, giving fans their first taste of what to expect.

For those not familiar with the name, the movie is based on the Saturday Night Live’s Will Forte character of “MacGruber,” a pisstake of TV show character MacGuyver.

Kristen Wiig stars as MacGruber’s love interest, and Val Kilmer plays the villain. The MacGruber movie is due for release April 23, 2010.

Brad Pitt and Matt Damon will voice characters in ‘Happy Feet 2’.

The acting pair, who last starred together in ‘Ocean’s 13,’ have both signed up to star in the animated movie, which follows a group of singing penguins, and are reportedly recording their voice parts this week.

Both Elijah Wood and Robin Williams, who voiced characters in the first film, released in 2006, will return for the sequel, as will director George Miller, who plans to shoot the movie in 3-D.

Matt, best known for his roles in action movies, has recently put a lot of practice into voice training for the film ‘Invictus’, in which he plays 1995 South African rugby captain Francois Pienaar, because he worried he would sound “like Frankenstein” if he didn’t put in a lot of effort altering his voice.

He said, “Worked hard on the accent and on training physically to build myself up to try to pull off the illusion of being the captain of a South African rugby team.

“The dialect coach and I talked a lot about how a lot of people, when they do a South African accent, really overdo it and end up making somebody sound like Frankenstein.”

‘Happy Feet 2’ is set for release in November 2011.

Actress Brittany Murphy, who died last month, was part of the cast of the original movie.

Britney Spears has started speaking in a British accent.

The 28-year-old singer has become obsessed with animated US TV show ‘Family Guy’ and has reportedly been wandering around Los Angeles’ Mondrian Hotel mimicking the voice of troublesome baby Stewie, whose English accent is voiced by show creator Seth MacFarlane.

A source said, “Britney has developed a real fascination for ‘Family Guy’. She’s been staying in the hotel’s penthouse suite and has been watching box sets.”

Britney has been addressing hotel staff in the voice much to their amusement.

The source to The Sun newspaper, “She really likes Stewie and has been trying to copy his British accent. It’s a bit weird, especially when she’s in the gym speaking like a camp Brit.”

This is not the first time Britney has spoken in a British accent.

The pop star apparently adopted English pronunciation during her stay at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles when she arrived there in January 2008 for treatment.

She was also videoed numerous times trading her Louisiana twang for UK inflections.

A source said, “She had the English accent thing going the whole time. It didn’t stop.”

Zac Efron wants to star in ‘The Hangover’ sequel.

The ‘High School Musical’ heartthrob would love a role in the movie because he was such a fan of the first film, which was a worldwide box office smash.

He said, “I haven’t got that call yet to join them but that would be amazing. I think that they’re amazing and I love the cast that they’ve got going on.”

One of the comedy’s stars, Ed Helms thinks the 22-year-old actor would be a great addition to the cast.

He said, “I love that guy. He’s actually really funny.”

‘The Hangover’ tells the story of four men who go on a bachelor party in Las Vegas and wake up the next morning with no memory of what happened the night before and have lost the groom-to-be.

Justin Bartha, who plays the lost groom Doug Billings, would also like Zac to appear in the sequel, along with ‘Twilight’ stars Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, because they would attract different filmgoers.

He told US TV show ‘Access Hollywood, “If it gets people in the seats, yes, Zac Efron and the ‘Twilight’ guy. All the ‘Twilight’ guys – every one of them with their shirts off, and Will Smith.”

Kate Moss has got engaged.

The supermodel was stunned when her rocker lover Jamie Hince flew out to join her while she was working on Caribbean island Mustique and popped the question on her 36th birthday on Saturday, January 16.

A source said, “Kate was stunned, Jamie called her up and told her not to come home. He said he was flying out to Mustique. He had carefully picked a ring and chose her birthday to propose. It was the first time they had been alone together in quite a while and it was extremely emotional.

“Kate and Jamie are in a very good place, they already live together and this is the next step to settling down for good.”

Jamie, who has been dating Kate since 2007, had picked out a diamond ring with the help of business tycoon Sir Philip Green, who is Kate’s boss at British high street chain Topshop, who she designs clothes for.

Kate, who has a seven-year-old daughter Lila from her relationship with Jefferson Hack, met The Kills guitarist three months after finishing her turbulent romance with Pete Doherty.

Friends claim Jamie has been a stabilizing influence on notorious party girl and she is now ready to settle down.

The British beauty was previously engaged to Pete and actor Johnny Depp.

Madonna wants to have another baby.

The 51-year-old ‘Celebration’ singer is reportedly going to start trying to conceive with her Brazilian model boyfriend Jesus Luz – who she has been dating for around two years.

A friend of Madonna, who already has four children, Lourdes, 13, Rocco, nine, and adopted Malawian tots David and Mercy, who are both four – told The Sun newspaper, “She says motherhood is her greatest achievement and the most fulfilling thing in her life.

“She knows that, at 51, it’s going to be harder to conceive naturally. But she is Olympic-athlete fit and is ready for the challenge.”

Jesus, 22, is said to be as keen to have a baby as his pop superstar lover.

They said, “Jesus is very religious and deeply in love with her. He adores her kids but has always wanted a child of his own. He told her fatherhood would be his greatest adventure and that he wanted to go on this journey for her.”

However, Madonna is unlikely to make him her third husband, with Jesus previously saying he was not ready to get married.

He said, “There’s no truth in this rumor. I am too young to get married.”

Robbie Williams has been given a makeover by his dogs.

The ‘You Know Me’ singer decided to experiment with his appearance by getting three of his pet pooches to sit on his head to show fans what he would look like with different hair colors.

He explained, “There’s been talk of me and my hair going grey… so I enlisted the help of my doggies to see which colouring would suit me better.”

Captioning the three pictures, featuring the singer with shaggy grey locks, a longer auburn style and white curls, thanks to the different coats of his pets – he added on his blog on his official website, “This is Wally helping me to see what i would look like totally peppered up… And Maggie just incase I go more auburn… And poops for the full Neil taylor. (sic)”

Meanwhile, Robbie’s dad Pete Conway has spoken of his delight that his son has found happiness with fiancee Ayda Field.

He said, “At last, Rob is happy. That’s what you want for your kids and this is the happiest I’ve seen him. Ayda is so beautiful and so delightful and so lovely and just so right for him. They are brilliant together.”

The Pussycat Dolls singer, who recently split from Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton after almost two years together, reportedly ended their relationship in order to further her acting ambitions and has set her sights on taking on the lead female role opposite Daniel Craig in the next movie about iconic British spy James Bond.

A friend of the star said, “Nicole is fiercely ambitious and didn’t want to spend her next few years following Lewis around the globe. He wanted her to be his companion as he went from one place to another, but she was not prepared to pack in her career, and that led to a number of arguments.

“She has lined up some meetings in Hollywood. Nicole is very athletic and sees herself in action movies. She has even said her ideal role would be to star as the next Bond girl. Why not? She has the looks and the physique for it. ”

Despite her acting ambitions, the 31-year-old beauty hasn’t turned her back on the music industry, as she is currently writing a number of songs for her solo album, as well as a new LP with her group.

The source added to Britain’s Hello! magazine, “The record is building a new Pussycat Dolls around Nicole and she wasn’t prepared to sacrifice this. They say heartbreak is good for creativity and, since splitting, Nicole has written a couple of tortured love songs for her new solo album.”

Lewis, who is still on speaking terms with Nicole, recently insisted he is staying upbeat about the future and trying to put his heartbreak behind him.

The 25-year-old star said, “I just want to move forward in a positive manner. The focus is on this season and doing the best I possibly can and getting the results on the track. I’m keeping my mind on that.”

Peter Andre wants to work with Amy Winehouse.

The ‘Behind Closed Doors’ singer would love to team up with the troubled singer, who is currently recording her third album, after learning she is a fan of his.

Peter said, “I think Amy is an absolutely incredible singer, and I would be thrilled to work with her at some point.

“I know she’s had her fair share of troubles, but I think she’s a lovely girl who just needs a cuddle.

“I have bumped into her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield at a few things over the last year. Dionne always tells me how much Amy likes me, and how every time I’m on TV, she points at the TV and says, ‘There’s my Pete!’ ”

The 36-year-old singer, who split from wife Katie Price last March, also revealed that 2010 has been a good year for him so far following the emotional upheaval of 2009.

He told new! magazine, “I’m so much more relaxed and happier than I was last year, and I feel like I’ve got nothing but good things ahead. Life is full of highs and lows and this definitely feels like it’s going to be a great year.”
