Rihanna Gets Birthday Surprise

Rihanna’s rumored boyfriend surprised her with a 22nd birthday party at the weekend.

The ‘Rude Boy’ singer was “shocked” by the bash put together by baseball player Matt Kemp in Phoenix, Arizona – where Kemp is currently training – as she was only expecting a small gathering of friends.

A source said, “It was so sweet and she was really surprised. She looked just beautiful.”

Matt organized Caribbean food to be served to Barbados-born Rihanna and also reportedly bought her a custom-made diamond necklace.

The party was extra-special for Rihanna as she cancelled her 21st birthday celebrations last year in the aftermath of her assault at the hands of then-boyfriend Chris Brown early in February 2009.

The source added to website ‘E! Online’, “Matt really wanted to do something nice for Rihanna this year since she didn’t have much of a 21st birthday last year. It was just her closest friends, good Jamaican food, a photo booth, dancing and a nice cake.” Matt, 25, has been linked to Rihanna since they were seen holidaying together in Mexico in January, but he has played down romance rumors.

He said, “Rihanna is just a friend, a good friend of mine. We went down to Mexico and had fun together.”

‘Top Chef’ host Padma Lakshmi has baby girl

Padma Lakshmi, host of TV’s Top Chef, gave birth to a baby girl Saturday, her rep confirmed to People.

Lakshmi, 39, has still not revealed the identity of the baby girl’s father. (Gawker says it’s Michael Dell.) Lakshmi’s representative did not disclose the child’s weight or city of birth, but did confirm the baby’s name- Krishna Thea Lakshmi. The statement was brief:

“Model, author and Emmy-nominated host of Top ChefPadma Lakshmi gave birth to a baby girl named Krishna Thea Lakshmi on Saturday,” her rep tells PEOPLE. “Mother and baby are well and happy.”

The child is the first for Lakshmi, who struggled with endometriosis, a painful condition affecting the reproductive system. People quoted a friend of the TV host on the pregnancy Lakshmi’s rep initially called “a medical miracle.”

“Padma is very happy. She’s wanted to be a mom for a long time. She was very relieved and happy when she got pregnant.”

Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish Split-Up

Ryan Phillippe and Abbie Cornish have split up.

The ‘Elizabeth: The Golden Age’ star moved out of the Los Angeles home the pair shared on Sunday, February 21, and it has been confirmed the couple’s romance is over.

A representative for the Australian actress said, “Abbie ended the relationship with Ryan and she moved out of their home.”

However, the rep’ did not give a reason for the separation.

Rumors have been rife for some time that Ryan, 35, and 27-year-old Abbie’s relationship was on the rocks.

At the beginning of the year it was reported the pair were “fighting all the time” over the actor’s apparent reluctance to commit.

A source said at the time, “The main thing is that Abbie wants to be married and start a family and she feels it’s beyond time for Ryan to make that happen. Ryan is spending more and more time partying.”

Abbie and Ryan, who has two children, Ava, ten, and Deacon, six, from his marriage to Reese Witherspoon, first met in 2006 on the set of their film ‘Stop-Loss’ and officially started dating in 2007.

Lindsay Lohan Feared Drug Death

Lindsay Lohan feared drugs would kill her.

The 23-year-old actress, who has an on/off relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson, used alcohol and illegal substances to ease the pain of her personal problems, and claims the situation worsened when her father Michael Lohan started giving interviews about her in 2007.

She said, “When my father was going public, that’s when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn’t the answer to my problems.

“I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine, and mind-altering substances. Now I’m in a place where I don’t need to use anything and I feel emotions because I choose to.

“I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life. I’ve made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them – that has probably saved my life.”

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress got to know about cocaine because of her drug user father, and despite witnessing his descent into addiction she still tried the substance.

She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper, “I was only aware of cocaine because of my dad. I was terrified of it. But I tried it because I was stubborn, stupid and wanted to see what it was like.

“It’s not something I ever want to do again. It made me feel like s**t. It became uninteresting to me. I’m hyper anyway and I have that kind of personality, so I don’t need something like that.”

Speaking about the first of her three stints in rehab, Lindsay admitted she requested treatment after collapsing in her bathroom.

She said, “The first time I checked myself in because I had taken Ambien. It’s a sleeping aid but it makes you hallucinate.

“I’d run a bath and fallen asleep on the floor and it overflowed. When I woke up, I was so scared I called my therapist and said, ‘Can I just go somewhere for a month? I’m around bad people and I need to take care of myself.’ I was terrified, so I put my name in.”

Angelina Jolie Reunites With Dad Jon Voight

Angelina Jolie has reportedly reunited with her father Jon Voight.

The Oscar-winning beauty – who raises six children with her partner Brad Pitt – was photographed with her kids and her dad in Venice on Sunday, February 21, sparking rumors they have reconciled after being estranged for years.

Brad, 46, is believed to have encouraged 34-year-old Angelina, who has recently been living in Venice, Italy, while she prepares to shoot ‘The Tourist’ opposite Johnny Depp, to “smooth things over” with Jon, 71.

A source said, “Since Brad and Angelina have been together, he has been encouraging her to smooth things over with her dad. And when it comes to the kids, Brad wants them to know their grandfather the way the kids know his parents.”

The ‘Wanted’ actress, who has three adopted children, Maddox, eight, five-year-old Zahara and Pax, six, and three biological children, Shiloh, three, and 19-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne, has been at war with her dad for years after he accused her of having “mental problems” shortly after her split from ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton in 2002.

Jon said at the time, “I haven’t come forward and addressed the serious mental problems she has spoken about so candidly to the press over the years, but I’ve tried behind the scenes in every way.”

The screen veteran has previously spoken about how he hoped to reconcile with his daughter on a permanent basis, saying, “We’re in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that’s the most important thing.”

Star Trek actor pleads for missing son’s return

As we posted yesterday, actor Andre Koenig of 80s sitcom Growing Pains has been missing in Vancouver since February 14th.

Koenig’s father, Star Trek actor Walter Koenig, has issued a plea on his website for information regarding the disappearance of his 41-year-old son. While initial reports indicated the younger Koenig was “depressed” about “something,” his father says Andrew’s depression is ongoing. Even more troubling is the fact that the elder Koenig received a letter after his son disappeared, the contents of which further worried Koenig’s distraught family.

The quoted bit below details Andrew Koenig’s last known whereabouts, and the Koenig family says Andrew’s phone last received a text on February 16th, two days after his last confirmed sighting.

On Feb. 16, Walter received a letter from his son Andrew, which caused his father to grow concerned about his whereabouts because of it’s despondent tone.

Andrew had recently finished shooting a trailer for a feature film that he wanted to direct, and was in Canada visiting friends: first in Toronto and then in Vancouver. Andrew was very comfortable in Vancouver, having lived there for several years after he fell in love with the area while filming an episode of “21 Jump Street”.

It is not believed that any specific incident prompted Andrew’s disappearance. “I think it’s something that has been a part of his makeup for a long time. There’s no single trauma. There’s no episode.

There’s nothing of that nature,” says Walter, who added that drugs were not an issue.

Andrew was last seen at a bakery in the Stanley Park area of Vancouver, where he often took walks.

The Koenigs plan to fly up to Vancouver in the next few days.

Anyone who may have information is urged to contact Detective Raymond Payette of the Vancouver PD at 604-717-2534.

Cheryl Cole Dumps Ashley Cole Thru Text

Cheryl Cole has dumped her husband by text message.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer sent the SMS to soccer player Ashley Cole yesterday, February 21, after four women came forward to say they had bedded the sportsman, and another revealed how he sent her flirty messages in a bid to have sex with her.

Cheryl fled from the UK to Los Angeles last Wednesday, February 17, without wearing her wedding ring – following the accusations and has decided she has had enough of the 29-year-old England player.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “Cheryl has decided enough is enough and she is going to divorce him. She has told Ashley to get out of the family home because she does not wish to see him.

“She has no desire to hear any more excuses or explanations. Grand gestures will not help either. When she left for America last week she wasn’t exactly sure of her future.”

Other sources claim the pair’s marriage has been a sham for some time and Cheryl knew she had to leave her husband of almost four years.

A friend of Cheryl, 26, told the Daily Star newspaper she had told them, “I should have dumped him in December!”

The source added, “She can’t bear to be in the same room as him now. “She says he has absolutely humiliated her. There is no way back. If he hasn’t moved out by the time she gets back to Britain she will stay in the house they built for her mum in the grounds.”

Cheryl has reportedly been making divorce plans since last week, and wants to issue a statement about her split by the end of the week.

The final straw for the singer came over the weekend when it was revealed Ashley had cheated on her with US government worker Ann Corbitt, 28, when his team Chelsea were on a US tour last July.

He reportedly phoned Ann begging her not to make their night of passion public.

He is said to been sobbing to her as he said, “I can’t lose my wife over this. If I lose my wife, I don’t want to live.”

Jay-Z talks about Beyonce on BBC chat show

Via Gawker comes this funny clip from Jay-Z on BBC One’s Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.

Wherein Hova discusses Valentine’s Day, Skype sex and how he actually invented the hand-shaking “put a ring on it” dance. He also casually busts out, “yeah, I’m not gonna tell you that” at least once, and declines the presenter’s offer to “freestyle” with him.

Sienna Miller “So Happy” With Jude Law

Sienna Miller is “so happy” with Jude Law.

The actress, who rekindled her romance with her ex-fiance last year after they split in 2006 following revelations he had cheated on her with his children’s nanny, says things with the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ actor are going great.

Sienna revealed, “It’s going really well. I’m so happy actually, he’s great!”

Sienna is back in the UK for London Fashion Week and will today, February 22, host a show for the Twenty8Twelve clothing label she runs with her sister Savannah.

The 28-year-old actress is now reportedly planning to move back into Jude’s swanky London home.

Speaking of the couple’s rekindled romance, a source told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “Jude and Sienna move pretty fast. They are just so into each other. It’s not like they are a new couple. There will be no weirdness; they know each other’s good and bad habits.

“There are a lot of ghosts to be laid to rest. But moving in is a chance for them to start afresh. They have been lost without each other since the split. Since they’ve been reunited they have never been happier.”

The couple reunited last autumn while they were both starring in separate Broadway plays in New York.

Over the Christmas period the couple holidayed together on the Caribbean island of Barbados along with Jude’s three children, Rafferty, Iris and Rudy, from his marriage to Sadie Frost.

Last year, Jude became a father for a fourth time after American model Samantha Burke gave birth to his daughter Sophia following a brief relationship.

Colin Firth’s BAFTA Awards Win

Colin Firth was named Best Actor at last night’s, February 21, BAFTA Awards.

The 49-year-old star won the prestigious honor for his role as a gay academic in Tom Ford’s ‘A Single Man’, which was the fashion designer’s directorial debut.

When accepting the award at London’s Royal Opera House, Colin said, “I’m now a more resuscitated, a little more worldly, better groomed, more fragrant and more nominated than one has ever been before.

“What Tom Ford doesn’t know is I have the e-mail in my outbox telling him I could not possibly do this. I was about to send this when a man came to repair my fridge.

“I don’t know what’s best for me so I would like to thank the fridge guy.”

Fellow Briton Carey Mulligan was named Best Actress for her role in ‘An Education’ and the 24-year-old blonde was shocked with her win.

After receiving a standing ovation, the 73-year-old star said: “Oh dear, I’m afraid you’ve done me in. Your Royal Highness, my dear, beautiful Uma, my dear BAFTA friends and colleagues, yes you’ve done me in, you have absolutely done me in.”
