Johnny Depp, currently in the thick of press and promotions for his new Tim Burton movie Alice in Wonderland, has taken a break from the movie release circuit to help three young men many believe are wrongly imprisoned for a brutal murder in Tennessee.

Damien Echols, Jesse Misskelley and Jason Baldwin were teenagers at the time of the murders, and are thought by many to have been tried and convicted for what were admittedly dodgy tastes in music, dress and demeanor. Ever mounting evidence in the case suggests that the three boys were easy targets, and that the genuinely responsible party for the gruesome deaths of the three boys has walked free since the 1993 murders. A key figure in the boys’ arrests has recanted her story entirely and alleges that police forced her to provide false leads. Even the father of one of the dead boys has stated that he has “no doubt” the boys are innocent and wrongly imprisoned. Echols remains on death row for the crime.

Depp will appear on the CBS show 48 Hours Mystery to defend the men who have spent the better part of two decades in jail for the crime. In a preview segment, Depp stated:

“I firmly believe Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley are totally innocent. It was a need for swift justice to placate the community,” Depp says. “Damien Echols is on death row to be killed by lethal injection.”

Depp is not the only celebrity supporter of Echols, Misskelley and Baldwin. Henry Rollins, Marilyn Manson, Winona Ryder, Eddie Vedder, the Dixie Chicks and Demi Lovato have all spoken out in an attempt to draw attention to the case. Lindsay Lohan will go back to romancing men if she can’t win Samantha Ronson back.

The ‘Mean Girls’ actress admitted she was “surprised” when she embarked on a relationship with the DJ, which lasted 18 months, as she had never been attracted to women before.

Lindsay said, “I never really thought about women before, it kind of just happened with Samantha. It surprised me. We’re still in touch.

“If I wasn’t with Samantha, I would probably be with a boy next. She’s the only woman I’ve been attracted to.”

Lindsay also blames Samantha’s friends for wrecking their relationship, claiming they were jealous of the DJ’s new-found celebrity status.

She added in an interview with The Sun newspaper, “I think Samantha was growing as a celebrity and a musician and I think that might have scared her family. But I’ve always been her biggest supporter, and yeah, I love her.

“All the fighting and stuff was just because her friends had got involved and made me an outcast. I think it was a jealousy thing in terms of her becoming more famous than the rest of them.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay’s father Michael Lohan has hit back at her claims yesterday, February 22, that her drug abuse escalated after he started giving interviews about her in 2007.

In a statement, Michael said he didn’t feel his daughter was over her drug problems.

He told website Hollyscoop, “I find her admissions of her experiences with alcohol and cocaine, to be noble, the real problem still exists with the prescription drug use that the so-called ‘addiction specialist’, therapist and doctors who are prescribing medication to Lindsay and other people.

“The problem for Lindsay and so many others is prescription drug use. It has taken lives, destroyed families and it will continue to do so until the government steps in and begins to put harsher restrictions on the writing of prescriptions.”

Robert Pattinson has confirmed he is dating Kristen Stewart.

The actor, who stars in the hit ‘Twilight’ vampire movie franchise alongside Kristen, has previously been very guarded about his love life but admitted at the BAFTA Awards after-party on Sunday night, February 21, he and Kristen are an item.

Robert, 23, insists they have only avoided going public with their relationship before now because they were worried about being hounded by obsessed fans.

Speaking at the post-BAFTAs dinner held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, he said, “It is extremely difficult but we are together, yes. We can’t arrive at the same time because of the fans, it goes crazy.

“This was supposed to be a public appearance as a couple but it’s impossible. We are here together and it’s a public event but it’s not easy. We have to do all this stuff to avoid attention.”

Robert, who arrived at the ceremony at the Royal Opera House separately to Kristen, was allegedly all over her once they left the awards show.

Robert presented a gong while 19-year-old Kristen picked up the Orange Rising Star award.

The next film in the vampire series, ‘Eclipse’, is set to be released in July and will continue with the story which sees Robert star as Edward, a vampire who has fallen in love with high-school student Bella, played by Kristen.

Meanwhile, Ashley is said to be “distraught”, but accepting of the breakdown of his marriage.

A friend of the England star said, “He is devastated and distraught. He is desperate for a reconciliation but knows in his heart he has lost her for good.”

She said, “It’s not a sex video. It’s called a love tape. I made a collage video of all the things that he loves. The Australian model, who has been dating the British actor since late 2007, said they are very happy together but insists they have no plans to get married just yet.

She said, “I think Orlando is an incredible man and he’s a very genuine and authentic individual. I’m grateful that he’s in my life. No, we’re not engaged. You can’t always believe everything you read!”

Miranda, 26, was photographed wearing a ring on the third finger of her left hand at the Cannes Film Festival in France last May but claims it was an “innocent” mistake because of the unpredictable weather.

She explained to Britain’s Hello! magazine, “We were in Cannes at the film festival and it was so hot that my fingers were swelling. I was wearing it on that finger because that’s the only one it would fit on. It was totally an innocent thing.”

Despite having to juggle their relationship between her home in New York and the 33-year-old actor’s Los Angeles base, the Victoria’s Secret beauty insists life couldn’t be better.

She said, “It has been great… it always seems to work out. We both appreciate each other and enjoy life.”

Her father John also said he’d given his seal of approval to the film star – because of his love of biking.

He said, “Orlando is a good guy. He’s into motorbikes so he’s got to be a good guy. We went dirt biking together nearly all day once. I love my motorbikes and Miranda does too, although since the modelling took off she hasn’t really been on one other than on the back of one with Orlando.”
