Alexandra Burke Heads to Haiti

Alexandra Burke is going to Haiti to help with the relief efforts.

The ‘Broken Heels’ singer is to fly to the Caribbean island to assist aid workers attempting to cope with the aftermath of the two huge earthquakes which hit Haiti in January, killing hundreds of thousands of people.

Alexandra, 21, said, “When I was asked to go and see things for myself, I didn’t hesitate.

“If I can raise awareness about how much support is needed then I’m there in a heartbeat.”

“I don’t think anyone can prepare for what it will be like but I will try to be strong.

“Watching the news was like a disaster film, but this was real.”

Alexandra is also one of a number of stars to contribute to Simon Cowell’s Helping Haiti charity single, a cover of R.E.M. song ‘Everybody Hurts’, to raise money for the nation.

The track also features Take That, Susan Boyle, Robbie Williams, James Morrison and Cheryl Cole.

Alexandra is the latest in a line of stars to personally help Haiti.

Actor-and-pilot John Travolta flew in aid supplies in a borrowed plane, while musician John Mayer is donating royalty payments from his song ‘The Heart of Life’ to the nation. He also donated $500,000 to aid relief.

Other celebrity donors include Jennifer Aniston, who gave $500,000, and couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie who handed over $1 million.

Carey Mulligan to Play Eliza in ‘My Fair Lady’

Carey Mulligan is set to play Eliza Doolittle in the remake of ‘My Fair Lady’.

The 24-year-old actress, who has been nominated for a Best Actress Oscar for her role in ‘An Education,’ is believed to be in talks with the producers of the upcoming musical movie after fellow British starlet Keira Knightley ruled herself out of the role last month.

Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye said, “The actress has not been formally offered the part yet – and won’t be until Columbia Pictures agrees the film’s budget.

“Carey and the ‘My Fair Lady’ filmmakers will keep talking until a deal can be struck.”

The role of Eliza was first made famous by screen legend Audrey Hepburn in the original film, in which London flower girl Eliza becomes a lady after meeting and falling in love with Professor Henry Higgins.

Following her meetings with producers Duncan Kenworthy, Cameron Mackintosh and John Madden, Carey has even been having singing lessons to help perfect her portrayal of the character in preparation.

While movie bosses are almost settled on their lead actress, they are having a difficult time finding the perfect actor to portray Professor Higgins.

It is believed British actor Colin Firth is currently being considered for the role, despite being unable to sing.

Lady Gaga’s Solo Charity Work

Lady Gaga is working on charity projects for Haiti.

The ‘Bad Romance’ hitmaker admitted she couldn’t take part on charity single ‘We Are The World’ and instead was doing her own thing and is pleased with her endeavours so far.

She said, “I’ve been working on my own charity projects for Haiti.

“We’ve raised over half a million dollars for Haiti already and we like to work specifically with charities that are based in Haiti itself.

“I donated all of the proceeds from one show worth of ticket sales as well as all of the merchandise from that show and for 24 hours we had a ‘Gaga for Haiti’ day where everything that was bought on the website… every dollar went to Haiti.”

The 23-year-old singer, who is currently in the middle of her ‘Monster’s Ball’ world tour, claimed to be too busy to appear at the recording of ‘We Are The World’, alongside stars including Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles, despite speculation she had recorded vocals for the charity track.

She told US TV show ‘Access Hollywood’, “I’ve actually been in rehearsal for my new tour, but I was never supposed to do ‘We Are The World.’ So that’s a rumour. I believe that they may have asked, yes, about it, but I was unable to do it.”

Video: Jon Stewart slices O’Reilly, wears skin as trophy

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart finished up a two-part series of interviews on Bill O’Reilly’s The O’Reilly Factor last night, and it made for some great, laugh-trackless watching as the two sparred over Iran, climate change, Khaled Sheik Mohammed does New York, and Sarah Palin.

O’Reilly starts off the interview under the premise that he’s vetting Stewart as a presidential running mate, opening a dialogue about climate change before the conversation turns to Iran. Stewart, thanking Fox News for “racheting up the fear” on the issue of Iran, calmly and consisely downplays fears of Iranian nuclear proliferation, and points out that overthrowing governments to stop tiny terrorist cells from attacking is a misguided strategy. As much as I love O’Reilly too, and I do- it’s really striking how Stewart knocks down all the Fox News talking points like so many straw men. O’Reilly’s gracious about the whole thing, trading barbs with Stewart in the way most New Yorkers knock each other in casual conversation, but Stewart really gets bitchy at points. He’s mostly right, though, so he gets away with it.

O’Reilly moves on to Khaled Sheik Mohammed and whether the 9/11 trials should be located in downtown Manhattan. O’Reilly cites the expense, to which Stewart replies that he’s glad O’Reilly’s “suddenly concerned about cost.” Stewart veers over towards the massive expense of the Iraq war (and ostensibly, the relatively minor worth of the invasion), and O’Reilly gamely apologizes for his earlier warmongering and the whole WMD thing. Back on KSM, Stewart dismisses concerns that the trial exposes NYC to a larger terrorist threat. The interview finishes up on the issue of Sarah Palin, and whether TDS has been unfair to Palin since her rise to notoriety. Instead of making an obvious joke, Stewart calls her out on her insistence that there are two Americas- her ‘real’ one and the rest of us, adroitly pointing out in a few words what it is that makes Palin a target for her many detractors. The video below is part two of the Stewart-O’Reilly showdown in its entirety.

On his own show last night, Stewart ragged on blogs a bit for their hyperbolic headlines in a segment called, “The Blogs Must Be Crazy.”

Victoria Beckham’s Sexy Mobile Ringtone

Victoria Beckham has Right Said Fred’s ‘I’m Too Sexy’ as her mobile phone ringtone.

The former Spice Girl’s husband, soccer star David Beckham, decided to “take the p**s” and change the settings on her handset so the 90s pop anthem blasts out every time she receives a call.

She told Love magazine, “It was David who set my phone up to play Right Said Fred. Honestly – he’s trying to take the p**s and I can’t change it because I’m rubbish with phones.”

Instead, the singer-turned-fashion designer is left shame-faced when her phone goes off in a public place.

She explained, “I’ll be at the gym and suddenly I’ve got Right Said Fred playing and I’m mortified.”

The 35-year-old star – who has sons Brooklyn, 11, Romeo, seven, and four-year-old Cruz with David – also revealed although the couple are very happy together they don’t always share the same passions.

While she spends her days discussing her love for fashion and clothes, the 34-year-old sportsman tries to stick to much more masculine topics of conversation.

She explained, “I’m just happy to have someone who wants to talk to me about fashion. Normally, David’s like, ‘Stop it, I don’t want to talk about clothes anymore! I want to talk about motorbikes and tattoos.’ ”

Katie Price and Alex Reid Plans to Adopt

Katie Price and Alex Reid are planning to adopt.

The newlyweds, currently enjoying their honeymoon following their Las Vegas wedding, are considering giving a home to a child from Haiti who has been orphaned by the recent earthquakes.

Cage-fighter Alex, is worried he may not be able to have children as he has reportedly been told by medics he has a low sperm count.

A friend of Alex’s told the Daily Star newspaper, “He has always joked that he worries he may not be able to have kids.

“He was with his ex Marie for years and they never used protection when they had sex. We all hope it’s not true because he would make an amazing dad.”

Katie, who already has three children, Harvey, seven, Junior, four, and Princess Tiaamii, two, from previous relationships, has claimed in the past she would consider adopting.

The 31-year-old star, whose ex-husband is Peter Andre said, “I saw a documentary on TV about kids abandoned in Bulgaria and it affected me because they all have disabilities.

“They are either blind or have learning difficulties and their parents don’t want them so they abandon them. I think about adoption every day, but not yet.”

Last night, February 4, it was revealed Katie and Alex, 34, wed on Tuesday, February 2, without signing a pre-nuptial agreement.

Friends of the glamour model have reportedly been urging her to seek a post-nuptial agreement, to protect her estimated $47 million fortune.

Charlie Sheen Will Be Charged with Felony

Charlie Sheen is set to be charged with felony menacing.

The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star, who was arrested on Christmas Day, December 25, for allegedly threatening to kill wife Brooke Mueller, may also be accused of felony assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief and will know his fate either today, February 5, or early Monday morning, February 8.

A court insider told Radar Online, “Chief Deputy District Attorney Arnold Mordkin has previously told Sheen he could be charged with felony menacing, felony assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief. The fact that the arraignment is happening at the District Court is an indication that at least one felony charge will be placed against him – misdemeanours are handled in County Court.”

The official hearing is due to take place in Colorado, the US state where the alleged incident happened, and both Sheen and Mueller are expected to attend.

Lawyers for both parties are expected to also make their case to relax the protective order that prohibits any contact between the couple, who have ten-month-old twin boys, Max and Bob.

Since Sheen’s arrest, Mueller has allegedly checked into rehab for her reported problems with substance abuse.

The couple, who married in 2008, are said to be keen to work through their problems and rebuild their marriage.

According to gossip website TMZ, Brooke left the Two Dreams Outer Banks rehabilitation center in North Carolina yesterday, February 4, ahead of the court appearance.

Anne Hathaway’s Kiss Wish

Anne Hathaway can’t kiss as well as Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Garner.

The ‘Alice in Wonderland’ actress admits she finds it “fun” locking lips with her hunky co-stars but fears she hasn’t mastered the sexy scenes as well as some of her peers, because she finds it hard to “get into” on-camera smooches.

She said, “If you’re both unattached and you get along, of course kissing in a movie is fun. But you can never get truly down and into it. Well, I can’t. Jennifer Garner – now that girl can movie kiss. I gotta say, that girl can really give it some up there.”

While she is one of the world’s highest-grossing actresses, Anne doesn’t have much confidence when it comes to “full-on movie kissing” – which she thinks is best reserved for Hollywood beauty Angelina.

She added to Britain’s GQ magazine, “You have to understand. There’s a technique for pretty movie kissing. There’s also full-on movie kissing – a totally different experience. But really, you have to be like Angelina Jolie to pull that off and still look good.

“I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I ain’t no Angie.”

Nicole Richie Forgets the Past

Nicole Richie doesn’t dwell on the past.

The 28-year-old socialite-turned-designer, who has previously been arrested for possession of heroin and spent time in rehab, refuses to revisit her troubled history because she is so happy now.

Nicole, who has two children, Harlow, two, and four-month old Sparrow, with boyfriend Joel Madden said, “You know, I’m one to live in the present and enjoy the time that I’m having.

“Going back into my past is just not something that I do. Right now, I’m living my dreams. To me, I’ve accepted responsibility for what I’ve done and I don’t really try and look at why I did it.

“I just feel that I have gotten past it and moved on, and it’s just something that’s not really a part of my life any more.”

Nicole also revealed she doesn’t think of her friends, who include Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, as famous.

The sexy star, whose adoptive father is singer Lionel Richie, told Marie Claire magazine, “I don’t look at those people as celebrities. I look at them as people. I live my life and I do what I do, and sometimes you forget that people are watching you.”

George Clooney, A Great Kisser

George Clooney is a “great” kisser.

The Hollywood heartthrob stars in ‘Up In The Air’ with Vera Farmiga and the actress has joked her main motivation for accepting the role was the chance to get close to George as his on screen love interest.

She said, “Of course the role was great, the script had wonderful dialogues, but hey, I’m a girl and my main motivation to accept the role was the fact I got to dance with George Clooney!

“George is a great kisser. Very gentle, not aggressive – I have to stop now or else my husband will get mad. It’s like being on a first date when you kiss George Clooney.”

Although she loved working with George, Vera insists the 48-year-old actor was no match in the kissing department for her husband Renn Hawkey, with who she has a 12-month-old son, Fyn.

She added to website Skip, “My husband is the best kisser in the world anyway! He’s just mind-blowing! George can’t keep up with that. But of course he asked me how it was with George, and I lied.”
