The remake/ reboot madness in Hollywood may have hit its lowest possible point with news that a Wizard of Oz remake is being considered.

But it gets worse, because there’s currently two separate remakes of the 1939 Judy Garland classic under consideration.

According to The LA Times,

One project, called “Oz,” currently lives at Warner’s New Line label. It’s being produced by Temple Hill, which is behind a little franchise called “Twilight,” and has a script written by Darren Lemke, a writer on the upcoming “Shrek Forever After.”

A second “Wizard of Oz” project, set up at Warners proper, skews a little darker — it’s written by “A History of Violence” screenwriter Josh Olson and focuses on a granddaughter of Dorothy who returns to Oz to fight evil. “Clash of the Titans” producer Basil Iwanyk and his Thunder Road Pictures are behind that one. (“Spawn” creator Todd MacFarlane is potentially involved in a producerial capacity, to give you some idea of the tone.)

The emphasis is mine, but it adds yet another dimension: the Wizard of Oz might be remade by the folks who bought us Twilight! ARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

The sad news of the death of 80’s teen idol Corey Haim earlier today has many who grew up in the era remembering some of his works.

We know no better way to remember Corey Haim then through a selection of trailers for his best known movies.

This takes me back, and as I’m sure it will for others.

Madonna and Gerard Butler had a dance-off at a post-Oscars party.

The ‘Material Girl’ singer helped host the bash at manager Guy Oseary’s Los Angeles home following the prestigious ceremony on Sunday night, March 7, and was clearly in a party mood so couldn’t resist when the handsome actor challenged her dancing skills.

A source said, “Madonna and Gerard were grinding on the dance floor before getting into a dance-off. It was hilarious.”

As well as Gerard, Madonna also showcased her dance moves with Gabourey Sidibe, who earlier missed out to Sandra Bullock in the Best Actress category.

A source said, “Madonna danced non-stop for four hours. She and Gabourey were dancing together at one point. They had a great time. This was the Oscar party to be at this year.”

Demi Moore co-hosted the party with Madonna, which was attended by a host of stars, including Demi’s husband Ashton Kutcher, P. Diddy, Renee Zellweger, Bradley Cooper and Taylor Lautner.

As well as some entertaining dance moves, the 300 guests were treated to a late-night Indian takeaway as well as enjoying a cocktail created by Demi and Madonna especially for the party.

Corey Feldman, one half of the two Coreys and frequent co-star of Corey Haim, blogged about the death of his friend and “brother” today.

The two 80s teen heartthrobs even co-starred in a reality show in 2007 on A&E, following the child stars as they struggled with their careers twenty years after their fame peaked. The show heavily focused on the contrast between Haim’s struggle with addiction and his more well-adjusted friend Feldman. In the post, Feldman says:

I was awakened at 8:30 this morning by my brother and sister knocking on my bedroom door. They informed me of the loss of my brother Corey Haim. My eyes weren’t even open all the way when the tears started streaming down my face. I am so sorry for Corey, his mother Judy, his family, my family, all of our fans, and of course my son who I will have to find a way to explain this to when he gets home from school. This is a tragic loss of a wonderful,beautiful,tormented soul, who will always be my brother,family, and best friend. We must all take this as a lesson in how we treat the people we share this world with while they are still here to make a difference. Please respect our families as we struggle and grieve through this difficult time. I hope the art Corey has left behind will be remembered as the passion of that for which he truly lived. ~ Corey

Haim’s death early this morning in Los Angeles isn’t the first big loss suffered by Feldman in the past year- the child star was notoriously close to pop star Michael Jackson at the height of Feldman’s career. Feldman blogged at length about the death of Jackson here.

Zoe Saldana “can’t live without” sex.

The ‘Avatar’ actress, who lives with her long-term boyfriend Keith Britton, is proud of her body and thinks people should be encouraged to take a greater interest in their sexuality from a young age to stop them turning to crime.

She said, “S is for Sex. Love it, love it, love it—can’t live without it.

“I love sex. I love skin. I don’t believe the body is something to hide. I think in American society we’re messing up our kids by taking away the education on, and awareness of, our sexuality and replacing it with violence, guns and video games—and we’re breeding little criminals.”

The 31-year-old star also admitted she won’t rule out ever starring in a graphic sex scene in any of her movies.

She told Essence magazine, “If you asked a painter, ‘Are you going to paint in red?’ the answer would be, ‘I’m going to paint paintings and if one day there is red in it, there’s red in it.’ ”

Speaking about her relationship, Zoe admitted she always wants to experience “severe passion”.

She added, “I’m more of a punch-drunk-love kind of girl. I mean punch as in that pow, that jolt, that kick in the gut. I like things that are severe, passionate and extreme.”

Sandra Bullock wants to have her Oscar welded to her car.

The 45-year-old star, who picked up the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in ‘The Blind Side’, wants to be reminded she is a movie star when doing mundane daily chores and has asked her husband, biker Jesse James, to attach the statue to her vehicle.

She said, “I’m going to have Jesse weld the Oscar to the hood of the car.

“It will be there to remind me as I do the school and grocery runs. I’m taking my award food shopping. More people will see it.”

Sandra also admitted she has not yet come to terms with winning the award and being in the company of other Oscar-winning actresses such as Dame Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep, but is glad the ceremony is over so she can go back to leading a normal life.

She told the Daily Star newspaper, “It’s really hard for it so sink in. Now I can go days without wearing make-up, eating cheese burgers, get back to my life walking the dogs and doing the things everybody else does.

“There’s a sense of relief. Now I can look back and think, ‘Wow, this is a little piece of history.’ I’m glad I got to share this time and exhilaration with extraordinarily beautiful and talented women.”

Meanwhile, Jesse, 40, has proclaimed how proud he is of Sandra, claiming he loses his breath when he looks at her.

He told People magazine, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to support my wife and her work. She does it all the time for me. She goes to Mexico, to the desert, to the hospital – a lot – to support me and my work. The least I can do is put on a suit and support her.

“She’s beautiful. She’s amazing. She takes my breath away. Sometimes I look at her and I do, I just lose my breath.

“I’m so proud of her. Nobody deserves this more and works harder. She’s old-school Hollywood – just gracious and a star who’s so much better than you expect them to be.”

Demi Moore reportedly gave her daughter a pole-dancing lesson.

The ‘Ghost’ actress and 21-year-old Rumer Willis attended a recent party at exclusive Hollywood venue Chateau Marmont and the 47-year-old beauty was keen to show off her raunchy moves.

A source told Life and Style magazine, “Demi got up and impressed everyone, especially when she spun around the pole upside down.”

Rumer – the actress’ eldest daughter from her marriage to actor Bruce Willis, then decided to follow in her mother’s footsteps by giving it a go as a host of stars, including Demi’s husband Ashton Kutcher, Jennifer Aniston and Leonardo DiCaprio, looked on.

The source added, “Everyone was cheering, and Leo gave Ashton a high-five.”

Former ‘Friends’ star Jennifer was very generous with her cheers as she has also become a fan of pole-dancing because it helps keep her slim.

A source said, “Jennifer can’t get enough of pole-dancing at the moment. She loves getting all the girls together so they can all do it together and have a laugh.

“She thinks it’s great for fitness and it makes her feel sexy.”

Other celebrity fans of pole-dancing include Britney Spears, Fergie and Kate Moss.

P. Diddy was accompanied by a team of perfume sprayers on a recent night out.

The rapper amazed revelers at London’s Runway club by having the DJ play a 30-minute set of his songs to signal his arrival and then insisting on having his own Sean John fragrance sprayed into the room every 20 minutes.

A source said, “All eyes were on Diddy. You could smell him coming a mile off. It was as if a king had arrived in the building – but you could hardly see him under all that mist from the perfume.

“His songs were played back-to-back for 30 minutes for his grand entrance. Girls were throwing themselves at him – it was wild.”

According to onlookers, the 40-year-old star, real name Sean Combs, insisted on only drinking Ciroc, the upmarket brand of vodka he endorses, and was followed everywhere by an assistant carrying his scarf and coat in case he got cold.

At 6am, Diddy, who was in London to promote his forthcoming new album, ‘Last Train To Paris,’ insisted on continuing partying at the nearby Jet Black nightspot, where he was entertained by magician Dynamo, before returning to his hotel, where he decided to stay awake until it was time to fly back to the US.

The source added to the Daily Mirror newspaper, “Even back at the hotel he did not want to sleep for fear of missing something. His team prised their eyes open to stay up with him.

“One of them even filmed every move of his wild time in London.”

Cheryl Cole is planning to move out of her marital home.

The ‘Parachute’ singer wants to quit the house she shared with estranged husband Ashley Cole in Surrey, South East England, who is alleged to have cheated on her with a string of other women, as soon as possible because it holds too many painful memories.

A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “Cheryl does not want the separation to be a long, drawn-out affair. She wants to find somewhere quickly so she can regain stability and become settled once more.

“If she can’t find somewhere she likes she’ll consider rented accommodation in the short term.”

The news will come as a further blow to soccer star Ashley, 29, who is presently in France receiving treatment for a broken ankle, which has stopped him returning to the UK for crisis talks about his marriage.

Ashley was due to fly home yesterday, March 9, but is said to have chosen to stay on at the clinic longer in an attempt to get fit to play for England in the World Cup in South Africa this summer.

A source at the CERS clinic in South West France told the Daily Star newspaper, “He has faced a dreadful dilemma. You could almost say he put England before Cheryl.”

Sources from law enforcement have confirmed to TMZ that Corey Haim collapsed in the bedroom of his mother’s apartment, and that four prescriptions were found “nearby.”

Haim, 38, was found unresponsive at the apartment early this morning, we reported earlier. TMZ published an updated timeline of events in Haim’s collapse and death:

Sources say Haim got out of bed just before 1 AM and collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911 at 12:53 AM and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 AM.

The site also reports that Haim was- like Brittany Murphy- suffering from “flu-like symptoms” prior to his collapse and eventual death. Haim’s mother discussed his previous struggles with drug addiction to police on the scene, and authorities believe Haim may have succumbed to an accidental overdose. No plans have been disclosed regarding whether an autopsy will be carried out to establish cause of death.
