Drew Barrymore has praised Ricky Martin for coming out as gay.

The actress was one of many famous faces to rally around the singer – who revealed his sexuality last month – at the 21st annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards on Saturday, April  17.

She said, “My lofty goal in this world is that we can live in a world that doesn’t judge each other, I just want people to be able to live their lives that are true to them. I celebrate what Ricky is doing because, we have to create a world for each other where acceptance is first and foremost.”

Drew was at the awards to pick up a special honour in recognition of her efforts to increase understanding of the gay community.

As well as praising Ricky before the ceremony, she used her acceptance speech to pay tribute to a number of inspirational gay people in her life.

Former ‘American Idol’ contestant Adam Lambert, who performed at the event,  also praised the ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ hitmaker, and hopes his admission will encourage other celebrities to be more open about their sexuality.

He told ‘Access Hollywood’: “It’s great to see people like Ricky feeling liberated to come out and come forward, and hopefully it will open the door wide open for more and more people to be comfortable with who they are.”

Gay Judas Priest singer Rob Halford also lent his support to the pop star.

He said, “I think Ricky was really eloquent with the statement he made about the reason why he held back. At the end of the day you’re dealing with a very personal and private issue… What he did was incredibly important for himself and the Latino community.”

The messages came just days before Ricky unveiled a raunchy new promotional video in celebration of his forthcoming ‘Black and White’ tour.

The footage features the 38-year-old star naked with strategically-placed digital tattoos featuring slogans written in Spanish which translate as ‘find yourself’, ‘forgive’ and ‘change your life’, among others.

Melanie Griffith’s marriage to Antonio Banderas was “strengthened” by her stay in rehab.

The actress, who spent three months in Utah’s Cirque Lodge rehabilitation centre last summer for preventative treatment, got through the programme with the support of her actor spouse and their family, including their 13-year-old daughter Stella.

Discussing Melanie’s treatment, Antonio said, “The whole family took part, Stella included. I was there three times a week at a stretch, and we participated in group therapy with our daughter. It strengthened our relationship in many ways. We participated very directly, all of us. Melanie’s son and daughter Alexander and Dakota were there, as was her ex-husband Don Johnson’s son Jessie and Melanie’s mother, actress Tippi Hedren, too.

“I just wanted the mother of my children, my wife, to get better. We had no reason to hide anything. At the same time, being open helps people in the same circumstances not to be ashamed.”

Last summer’s visit was the 52-year-old actress’ third stint in rehab, with Melanie previously being treated for addictions to alcohol, cocaine and painkillers.

The visit was a preventative measure taken after she became nervous of using prescription medication to treat a knee injury she sustained in a skiing accident.

Antonio – who wed Melanie in May 1996, explained to Britain’s Hello! magazine, “That has a very simple explanation. She hasn’t touched alcohol for years. As far as prescription pills go, she had a skiing accident in Aspen – I was there, we were skiing together – and she tore all the ligaments in her knee. She had an operation two hours after the accident, and had two operations over the next year. They had to give her painkillers. For someone who has been an addict, it was like falling into the same hole again, and Melanie was the one who decided to get treatment.

“Melanie said, ‘This isn’t good. When I finish with the rehabilitation for me knee, I’m going straight to Cirque Lodge for 90 days so I can reinforce my determination to stay clean.’ And that’s what she did. But it wasn’t because she was running around popping pills.”

Mark Owen reunited with his family over the weekend.

The Take That star, who last month confessed he’d had ten affairs since he began dating his now-wife Emma Ferguson – checked himself into The Priory rehabilitation clinic, in London, in March to be treated for alcoholism but signed out on Saturday, April 17, and took his family to Wandsworth Park for the day.

A source said, “It was the first time he has seen Emma since he went into rehab and it was very emotional. Mark really wants to patch things up but it is early days. He was so happy to be with the kids and Emma but there is still a long way to go.”

Before going into rehab, the 38-year-old singer – who has two children, Elwood, three, and 14-month-old Willow Rose, with Emma – admitted he had badly “let down” his wife with his actions.

He said, “She loves me and I let her down. I’m really sorry. I have been an idiot, a d***head, a k***head. All of the above and more. It’s about me, my mistakes. Nobody else is to blame. I don’t know how many girls there were in all. Maybe 10.”

Emma, 33, has reportedly agreed not to divorce him for the sake of their children, but has put on hold plans to move into a larger family home.

30-year-old You Say Party! We Say Die! drummer Devon Clifford has died after collapsing on stage during a gig Friday night.

Singer Becky Ninkovic is said to have asked fans at the Rickshaw Theatre to call for help after she realized Clifford had collapsed. Clifford was transported to the hospital, where he died Saturday. His family released a statement saying the drummer died of “a massive brain hemorrhage resulting from congenital defects.” Clifford’s family went on to say:

“Devon Clifford was an extremely gifted drummer and determined character. He loved his family, loved his band, loved travelling, loved being on stage and loved meeting people around the world. He was smart, witty, passionate, and music meant everything to him. He was also incredibly generous with his love and respected everybody he came into contact with. This was underlined by his work with the under privileged at the Portland Hotel Society.

“The Clifford family would like to take this opportunity to remind young people to have the courage to follow their dreams like Devon did.”

The band used Twitter to update fans on Clifford’s condition prior to his death:

there aren’t alot of words right now. let the doctors do their job.

We are devastated and trying to keep hope. He needs at miracle. Thank you.

Daisy Lowe is allegedly dating Matt Smith.

The underwear model was spotted walking hand in hand with the ‘Doctor Who’ star at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival in California yesterday, April 18.

The pair reportedly met three months ago during a night out in Camden, London.

A source said, “They hit it off immediately and the chemistry between them was obvious from the start.

“It’s early days but they are already talking about moving in together. They realized it was terrible timing with his debut in ‘Doctor Who’, so they went to great lengths to keep it secret.

“It wasn’t even planned that they would reveal the relationship at Coachella – but Daisy has missed Matt while he was on the tour and they thought, ‘What the hell?’ After all, the reviews are in – it can’t affect the show now.”

Daisy and Matt were seen getting especially cosy at the festival and spent some time hanging out with socialites Peaches and Pixie Geldof and radio DJ Nick Grimshaw.

An onlooker said, “Matt looked smitten. He was so attentive to her and she couldn’t stop smiling. She was hanging on to his every word.

“It was like the pair of them were in their own little bubble together. They were inseparable.”

Despite attempts to keep their relationship quiet, Daisy hinted she was romantically involved with the 27-year-old actor, who has won rave reviews for his portrayal of The Doctor in the British sci-fi series.

Writing on twitter, Daisy said,  “ok i am officially madly in love with doctor who… (sic)”

Matt too has hinted he has feelings for Daisy, saying last month, “Daisy Lowe’s a pretty lady, someone lovely with a good heart who enjoys the thing I enjoy.”

Josh Duhamel wants seven children.

The ‘Life As We Know It’ actor can’t wait to start a family with wife Fergie because he wants as many kids as possible.

He said, “I have always loved kids… I am happy with one, but I will take seven.”

While the 35-year-old Black Eyed Peas singer also wants children, she has told her husband he must wait because she needs to focus on her career commitments first.

She said, “Sometime definitely in the future, yes. After the tour, because I can’t be jumping around with those other boys if I am.”

Josh, 37, has also revealed the pair have discussed adopting a disadvantaged youngster.

He told America’s OK! magazine, “I would love to adopt, especially the more you learn about the kids that are out there that need parents. I am a supporter of adoption.”

Fergie and Josh have been dating since September 2004 and have been married for 15 months but they still keep the romance in their relationship alive.

Fergie explained, “Our marriage is going great. The most romantic thing that Josh does for me is that when we go on our hikes, he always picks the prettiest flower and puts it in my hair. It’s really cute and it’s kind of our hippie side.”

Kate Moss has posed naked for her boyfriend Jamie Hince.

The 36-year-old supermodel has stripped off for a series of sexy black and white images, where she is wearing nothing but a German Kaiser helmet, taken by her rocker lover.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “Kate is very proud of them and is considering whether to exhibit them or not.”

While the British catwalk beauty makes up her mind about whether or not to display the photographs, they are being looked after by her friend Rose Ferguson and her husband Jake Chapman.

Kate, who has seven-year-old daughter Lila Grace from a previous relationship, and The Kills guitarist Jamie have been dating for almost three years.

Earlier this year, the model shed her clothes on a beach for a raunchy photo shoot which appeared in the Spring/Summer issue of Vogue Homme International magazine.

Most recently Kate took to the catwalk to help raise relief funds for earthquake-stricken Haiti.

She was joined at the Fashion For Relief event in February by organizer Naomi Campbell and Girls Aloud stars Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

David Duchovny wants to go back to school.

The ‘Jonses’ actor, who has daughter Madelaine, 11, and seven-year-old son Kyd with wife Tea Leoni – admits he often thinks about completing his doctorate in comparative literature, but has accepted it is unlikely to ever happen.

David who left Yale University without completing his thesis said, “My career started, so I couldn’t afford the time to finish it, but I do retain an academic interest in literature.

“Actually, I have an interest in finishing my PhD, but I just know I never will. It’s like if I almost became a surgeon — that doesn’t mean I am going to operate on anybody right now.”

As well as being an avid reader, David, 49, has been working on a script for a movie, but after accepting it will be a struggle to get his work onto the big screen, is now considering turning it into a novel instead.

He added to the Sunday Times newspaper, “I have things in mind for writing and directing, but the scripts I write seem to fall into this independent world which I started veering towards as I was finishing ‘The X Files’, about 10 years ago.

“And it is a hard world right now, when you want to make the kind of movies I am writing. I think they could be popular, and could do business, but it’s hard to prove that at the script stage. At some point, I think somebody is going to take a chance and give me some money to make one.

“I have been working on this script this past winter, and I think it is quite dense. I don’t know if it is a movie or not. I hope it is, but I am also going to turn it into a novel, just in case.”

The cage fighter, who married glamou model Katie Price in a surprise Las Vegas ceremony in February, insists he tries to live his life peacefully and looks to religious figures for inspiration on how best to handle situations.

He explained, The fact is, this is a nasty world. And that’s why I do martial arts. And also a wonderful world and that’s why I say, ‘Para bellum.’ They’re Latin words, which I can’t remember exactly, but they mean, ‘For peace, prepare for war.’ That’s kind of my motto.

“I left the army because I didn’t want to kill people, but I believe we do need soldiers. There are evil people. Like Adolf Hitler. Those sort of things are going off all the time in the world.”

The 34-year-old star, who has previously revealed he is trying for a baby with his wife, who has three children from previous relationships – also spoke of his desire to create “a masterpiece” to ensure his legacy remains forever.

He added to the Observer magazine, “What I want to be is known for something amazing. So people might not even know my name, but… for example, who was the guy who invented the Eiffel Tower? Was it Mr. Eiffel?

“Or the pyramids! Something that will stay for ever. You make something, and it’s just there. It’s your mark. I want to create a great work – a masterpiece.

“I want immortality. For ever! We’re all immortal, because we have children, and, that’s you. And I believe, not to go all spiritual, but you could go that way, with spirits and what have you.”

Liv Tyler enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Disneyland Paris with her five-year-old son.

The stunning actress took Milo, her child with ex-husband Royston Langdon, to the French theme park where they met the new generation of Disney characters including ‘Monsters. Inc’ hero Sully and Buzz Lightyear from the ‘Toy Story’ films.

Liv was keen to get into the spirit of things and even donned a pair of Minnie Mouse ears as she posed for photos.

An onlooker said, “Liv and Milo were having so much fun and despite being the adult, it seemed Liv was the one enjoying it more! She couldn’t resist trying on Minnie’s ears and she still managed to look super stylish.”

As well as putting on mouse ears, Liv recently revealed she loves playing dress up with Kate Moss.

The ‘Lord of the Rings’ beauty is a huge fan of the supermodel’s style and goes crazy when she’s allowed in her wardrobe.

She said, “Kate’s the most stylish person I know. I love playing dress-up with her and her closet.”

The 32-year-old star also enjoys spending time with British designer Stella McCartney.

She said, “A great night in? Stella McCartney’s house in the country. Once our kids are asleep it’s ‘grab the wine’ and take turns to talk boys and husbands.”
