American Idol fans were a bit surprised with this week’s bottom three- Andrew Garcia, Aaron Kelly and “Big” Mike Lynche were all up on the chopping block tonight.

Aaron Kelly was surprisingly saved first, and then Andrew Garcia was spared from being voted off. Twitter went pretty crazy as Big Mike was revealed as the contestant in danger of going home tonight. And following a night of performances by Rihanna and David Archuleta, Mike Lynche “sang for his life” to stay on American Idol for one more week with a rendition of “This Woman’s Work.”

The judges did their suspense-building thing, conferring and head shaking as Mike sang and his wife cried. After the performance, Simon regretfully told Lynche that the judges wished he’d performed as well last night. After some hemming and hawing, however, Simon dramatically announced that they’d used their one save this season to keep Lynche on the show.

Michael Lohan is to marry girlfriend Kate Major.

The 49-year-old father of Lindsay Lohan has popped the question to Kate and is “ecstatic” that she has said yes.

He said, “I’m ecstatic. I’ve never met anyone who’s been there for me like Kate. She’s always been there for me. The one thing about Kate is that she doesn’t come with baggage.”

Kate, 27, is also thrilled to be engaged and says the nuptials will take place before the end of 2010.

Chivalrous Michael even asked her father for permission to marry her.

Former Star magazine reporter Kate said, “I’m ecstatic. I’m very happy. Michael and I have known each other for four years, and it’s meant to be.”

“Michael went down with me to Florida for Easter, to meet my father to ask his permission, and my father gave his blessing.

“I’ve already talked to some of the bridesmaids, and it will probably be in New York, probably at the end of this year.”

Michael was previously married to Dina Sullivan, Lindsay’s mother, but the pair divorced in 2007.

As well as Lindsay, Michael and Dina have three other children, Michael Douglas, 22, Ali, 16 and Dakota, 13.

Alex Reid says his wife Katie Price likes him to be “needy”.

The cage-fighter, who tied the knot with the glamour model in Las Vegas in February, has a strong desire to be liked but insists the glamour model is happy to stroke his ego.

Alex, who was crowned the winner of UK reality TV show ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ this year – told TV programme ‘This Morning’, “It’s human nature, we want to be liked, I’m needy I want to know I am liked. Everybody likes to be liked. That’s the dichotomy in me. But it’s getting less, I know the people I love, love me.”

When asked by presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby what Katie thought of his needy personality, he replied, “She needs me to be needy for her. We’re really into each other.”

Alex insists he has never been happier than since meeting 31-year-old Katie and has revealed his family lover her as much as he does.

He explained, “My family absolutely love her, they can’t get enough of her. Our families our both very similar, which is great.”

The 34-year-old hunk also revealed his martial arts help him deal with the pressures of fame and the attention being married to Katie brings.

He said, “A lot has happened in the last few months but I’m strong and thick-skinned and my martial arts keep me calm and centered.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Kirk Douglas have written to a judge to ask for Cameron Douglas to be given a lesser sentence.

The Hollywood veteran, who is Cameron’s grandfather, and his actress daughter-in-law, who is married to Cameron’s father Michael Douglas, have sent a heartfelt letter to Judge Richard Berman defending his character and asking the judge to be lenient when he hands down his punishment to the 31 year old for drug possession and dealing.

The 93-year-old actor wrote, “I remember when he played a part in the movie ‘It Runs in the Family’ with me and Michael in 2003. He was a natural. We were so proud.

“Of course, as his grandfather – by the way he calls me Pappy (never grandpa) – I am prejudiced. I was shocked when he got in such a mess… I am convinced that Cameron could be a fine actor and a person that cares for others. I hope I can see that happen before I die. I love Cameron.”

Cameron is facing a possible 10 years in jail after pleading guilty in January to possession and dealing methamphetamine and cocaine from a Manhattan hotel last July.

The actor has also been praised as a fantastic step-brother by his stepmother Catherine, who has two children, son Dylan, nine, and six-year-old daughter Carys, with Michael.

The ‘Chicago’ actress personally urged the judge to help rehabilitate him rather than punish him for his actions.

Her testimonial wrote, “My stepson is a caring, considerate, worthy human being, but nevertheless, the disease that for years he has tried to combat, did take over again.

“What is wrong is wrong, but may all these positive attributes prevail, so that a facility that he is positioned in will help rehabilitate him.”

The letter also included a note from Cameron’s mother Diandra, who divorced Michael in 2000, in which she spoke about her son’s recent “enthusiastic” change in demeanour.

She added, “Cameron’s arrest has brought all of us life lessons, most of all Cameron. As painful as it is for a mother to have to watch her son go through an ordeal such as this one… for the first time in my life I see my son enthusiastic about his life.”

Cameron is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, ahead of his sentencing on April 27.

The letter also contained personal messages from other family members.

Jennifer Love Hewitt claims she once caught a former boyfriend in bed with another girl.

The unlucky-in-love actress has been cheated on several times in her life, but the worst moment was when she walked on her ex romping with a girl she knew.

Jennifer told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS FM radio show yesterday, April 6, “It’s brutal. Once I found out on television and that was awesome. And then another time I found them together… and that was, woooo! That was not good.”

Despite having her heartbroken a number of times, the 31-year-old star insists she is still on good terms with her most recent ex Jamie Kennedy, who she separated from last month after a year of dating.

Jennifer claims her ‘Ghost Whisperer’ co-star taught her a lot about how men think and act and helped her revise some of her romantic ideals.

The brunette beauty, who has written a self-help book on relationships entitled ‘The Day I Shot Cupid’ added, “We are sort of opposites – I am sort of this gushy hopeless romantic and he is sort of this realist. So, he really taught me how to look at the reality of things like love whereas I had my head in the clouds before. He very much taught me some things and he taught me a lot about men and what they think.”

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have split after five years together.

The 48-year-old comedy actor took to twitter to tell his fans his relationship with Jenny had ended, but insisted the split was amicable.

He wrote, “Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful for the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best. S’okay!

“Be of good cheer folks! It’s a beautiful world, and we’re all gonna get what we need the most! (sic)”

Jenny also took to twitter to reveal news of their split, saying she was “grateful” for their time together and would continue to be “committed” to his daughter Jane, 22.

She said, “I’m so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”

In February, Jenny revealed her excitement at the birth of Jim’s daughter Jane’s first son Jackson.

She said, “I think I’m going to be an awesome grandma, the world’s best is what I say.”

Just last month former Playboy model Jenny claimed she would marry Jim, but only for tax reasons.

She said, “We say ‘never’, but I don’t know. Maybe for tax purposes, someday, when we are old. That’s why we keep joking – like, when we are 70! But for now, we’re fine. We are really fine!”

Jim has been married twice before, first to waitress Melissa Womer – Jane’s mother – with whom he split from in 1995, and to his ‘Dumb and Dumber’ co-star Lauren Holly, which lasted less than a year after they tied the knot in 1996.

Jenny was previously married to actor-and-director John Mallory Asher in 1999.

The couple had one son, Evan, born in 2002, before they split in 2005.

Former Giants running back and current sportscaster and sports blogger Tiki Barber announced a split from his wife Ginny, to whom he has been married for 11 years.

Barber is said to have left his wife, who is eight months pregnant with twins, for 23-year-old intern Traci Lynn Johnson. The news about Barber is particularly surprising when compared with statements he made about his own father’s fidelity in a New York Post interview a few years back:

“I don’t give a [bleep] that the relationship didn’t work,” he said of his parents’ split in a 2004 Post interview. “Not only did he abandon her, I felt like he abandoned us for a lot of our lives. I have a hard time forgiving that.”

Barber, who has two sons with Ginny, ages 6 and 7, released the following statement regarding the split:

“After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate,” Barber said. “This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known.”

A spokesman for Barber declined further comment on the matter.

Sarah Harding couldn’t cope with Cheryl Cole’s career.

The 28-year-old singer is impressed with the way her Girls Aloud bandmate is juggling a career as a solo artist and judge on UK TV talent show ‘The X Factor’ while the group are on hiatus but thinks she would be “dead as a dodo” if she tried to tackle a similar workload.

Sarah, who has embarked on an acting career during her time off from the band said, “I don’t know how Cheryl does it. She’s not stopped. I went straight into doing the ‘St. Trinian’s’ movie and we’ve all kept ourselves busy but not at the sort of pace she has. I would be dead as a dodo.”

Since Girls Aloud went on hiatus at the end of 2009, the ‘Biology’ hitmakers have been dogged by rumours that Nadine Coyle, who resides in Los Angeles, will quit the group permanently to embark on a solo career and Sarah refused to address the speculation.

She told Britain’s OK! magazine, “I can’t comment about that, sorry. Don’t believe everything you read, that’s all I’ve got to say.”

The blonde beauty has enjoyed her time outside of the band, which also consists of Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, and although they are expected to reunite in the near future, Sarah still has acting ambitions she wants to fulfill.

She said, “I’ve really had a lot of fun getting some acting experience. I’d love to act in the place that they shot ‘Twilight’ in, Portland, Oregon.

“I’d love to go up there – I just like the scenery, the countryside and all the greenery there.”

Crystal Bowersox owned last night on Beatles night with a didgeridoo infused performance of the Beatles song “Come Together.”

For some reason, even though she’s the most talented one of the AI bunch, I don’t see her winning it. Which is too bad, because if you watch the clip below, she’s pretty amazing. It would seem that yet another rendition of that song would be boring and trite, but Bowersox brings something new to it.

Lady Gaga is reportedly terrified her family will disown her if she dates a woman.

The ‘Telephone’ singer, who last month claimed being gay is not a choice, is said to be struggling with her sexuality but is worried what her Catholic parents will think of her lifestyle choice.

A source said, “Gaga is unsure whether she wants to be with a man or a woman. She’s scared that if she falls for a woman, her family will reject her, because ultimately, they want her to settle down with a man. For all Gaga’s success, her love life is a mess – and at the heart of the matter is the fact I think she’s scared of allowing herself to fall in love with another woman.”

Although the ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker, real name Stefani Germanotta, has spoken openly about previously being with other women, her family think it’s all just part of her act.

The source continued to LOOK magazine, “The big issue is that, despite her wild persona, Stef comes from an ultra-traditional Italian Catholic family. Stef told me her grandma is heartbroken that she hasn’t settled down and got married yet. I think if she admitted she could love a woman and it’s not just part of her act, they’d all be surprised. If Stef’s family rejected her for falling for a woman, she’d be utterly heartbroken. She adores them, especially her younger sister Natalie.”

Last month, the 24-year-old star said she believes homosexual men and women are “born” that way.

She said, “There are transsexual women and trans-gender women and suddenly it becomes poisonous and something else because there are some people in this world that believe being gay is a choice. It’s not a choice, we’re born this way.”
