Rupert Grint hates watching the old ‘Harry Potter’ movies.
The actor, who portrays Ron Weasley in the wizarding franchise, feels as though his life has been one “big home movie”, and he can’t stand seeing himself go through puberty on-screen.
He told BANG Showbiz, “It is weird I suppose. I’ve not known any different… it’s the way I’ve grown up. You get used to it. It’s weird – like having a big home movie. If the old films are on TV I’ll glimpse slightly, but I’ve never watched one all the way through.”
The 21-year-old star admits he is concerned about being typecast by the series which is why he decided to take on a completely different role in his new comedy ‘Wild Target’.
He said, “I guess it was one of the reasons I did ‘Wild Target’ because it was kind of a way out… ‘Harry Potter’ is coming to an end, it’s the last one, then it’s all done. It’s a weird feeling because we’ve been so long in this bubble and now we have to walk away from it all. It’s important to do different things and stretch out.”
Rupert also compared his transition through the movies as “graduating” through school and coming out the other side a better actor. He said, “I hope so, I didn’t know how films were made at first, so you just learn as you go, like a school and all the amazing people you’ve worked with, and now it’s like graduating.”
Scarlett Johansson thinks Robert Downey Jr. was a “gift” to work with.
The actress, who portrays Black Widow in ‘Iron Man 2,’ admits she enjoyed working alongside the actor, who plays the titular character and his alter ego Tony Stark, because he gives so much input. She said, “Robert was incredibly supportive, so enthusiastic for my character and the work that we were doing. He’s completely centered and present.
“To work with somebody that’s present like that is such a gift.” However, the ‘Lost in Translation’ actress lamented the fact she didn’t get the chance to act alongside Mickey Rourke – who plays villain Ivan Vanko – a great deal while shooting the film. She said, “I really didn’t get the opportunity to work with Mickey very much.”
Scarlett’s fellow ‘Iron Man 2’ actress Gwyneth Paltrow recently heaped praise on her co-star, saying she “adores” her. She said recently, “I adore Scarlett. She is really funny. She swears a lot. She has a dirty sense of humour! She loves to cook. She’s a girl after my own heart.”
Detroit born singer Ali-Ollie Woodson, who lead the Temptations in the 80s and 90s, has died after an 18-month-long battle with leukemia.
Woodson, 58, died Sunday in California. Billy Wilson, of the Motown Alumni Association, confirmed the singer’s death to press. Wilson commented to The Detroit News about Woodson’s unique vocal style:
“He was an excellent singer,” Wilson said. “He’s one of the few singers who was accommodating to virtually everything. He had a style and swagger about himself that was different than the other Temptations.”
Woodson, who joined the Temptations in 1984, wrote and sang their hit “Treat Her Like a Lady” from the same year. He performed in 2008 both at the Motown Museum Fundraiser and the funeral of The Four Tops’ Levi Stubbs. Of Stubbs’ death, Woodson said:
“It’s a sad day… he was the first person I met when I signed with Motown in 1983,” he told The Detroit News.
Family members have not yet commented on Woodson’s death. Funeral arrangements and memorial plans have yet to be announced.
Alex Reid claims he has been the victim of bullying.
The cage fighter, who wed glamour model Katie Price in February, admitted he was so shocked by the level of animosity towards him and his wife at a recent bout that he felt quite concerned for her well-being.
He said, “There were boos when I entered, but I thought: I can live with that. I expected a bit of pantomime behaviour, but it wasn’t nice when people started throwing bananas and bottles. That was unacceptable and I worried about taking Katie.
“It’s not nice – come on, guys. You had to see some of the hate that was directed towards us to believe it. It was borderline bullying.” In order to calm his fury, Alex has recently been channeling his energy into yoga and is already feeling the benefits.
He explained, “It’s a great form of exercise and really good for the body. We just go to our local classes along with everyone else… I sweat a lot in the class! But it is great for flexibility. I’m not bad at the moment, but after a few more sessions, you never know, I may be able to do the splits!”
The ’Think Twice’ singer and her husband Rene Angelil, who already have nine-year-old son Rene-Charles together, are preparing to extend their brood after their sixth round of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) was successful. Celine is currently 14 weeks pregnant and the couple are expected to find out the se of their babies next month.
Rene told People.com, “We’re ecstatic. Celine is just hoping for a healthy pregnancy. She was hoping for one baby and the news that we are having two is a double blessing!”
The 42-year-old songstress has had an emotional few months as she tried to have more children with her 68-year-old spouse. Last August the couple announced they were expecting a child following a successful round of IVF, but in November her spokesperson confirmed the pregnancy had failed.
Just days ago Celine hinted there was some “good news” to come about a second pregnancy. She said, “Well we’re crossing our fingers. We’re waiting for good news hopefully. I don’t want to talk about it so much because I’m superstitious, but I know people have been very wonderful for us and praying for us. Right now we are crossing our fingers, we hope for the best and I can’t wait to give people good news.”
The French-Canadian star deliberately didn’t want to release information about her bump until she was sure she was pregnant. She added, “Once you live in showbusiness and everything spreads out so quick and every pregnancy you have to wait three months to make sure it’s all ok and it’s nerve racking. We’re not getting any younger and you always think it’s your last chance, you’re last try.”
Peter Facinelli competes with his ‘Twilight Saga’ co-stars over who can spend most time at the gym.
The 36-year-old star, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the vampire movie franchise, admits there is an “unspoken competition” between the actors over who can get the fittest. He told BANG Showbiz, “We had this kind of unspoken competition between all of us. Working out is addictive enough and then you have all the cast members working out.
“Not so much to get buff, my character doesn’t need to look like Kellan Lutz’s character but we had to be fit to do the fight training. But everyone was always in the gym – whenever you wanted to find somebody you just headed to the gym.”
Peter confesses the competition became so intense he once caught Kellan, who plays Emmett Cullen, doing press-ups while waiting for
an elevator, leading him to give up the fight.
He said, “I remember going down to the gym and the elevator doors opened and Kellan Lutz was on the floor doing push ups waiting for the elevator and then I just put my hands in the air and said, ‘Ok, you win.’ I just went back to my hotel.”
The 16-year-old singer admits he ended his romance with his girlfriend of seven months during a heated call but insists it is not something he’s proud of.
He said, “I have dumped a girl over the phone – it’s terrible isn’t it? We got into an argument during a phone call so I basically said, I don’t wanna be with you any more,’ and she cried. I saw her after that and it was a bit awkward, but we’re not enemies now, so that’s cool. “But I wouldn’t recommend it, it’s very mean!”
Justin also went against his mother’s wishes when he started dating the girl as she didn’t want him to get romantically involved with anyone before he was 16.
He told Top of the Pops magazine, “My mom said I wasn’t allowed to date until I was 16, but I broke that rule. She found out and said, ‘I’m disappointed in you.’ ”
Simon Cowell loves drinking vitamin juices and healthy smoothies.
The music mogul, who is engaged to make-up artist Mezhgan Hussainy, is healthier than he’s ever been thanks to his dedication to the “green swamp juice”, according to his close friend Amanda Holden.
Amanda said, “He’s into these health smoothies and is always giving
away recipes. I actually think this is the healthiest he’s ever looked. He’s lost weight, he’s really fit, his skin looks good and his eyes are shiny. He’s either in love or it’s the herbs!
“Simon’s make-up artist is great because she brings in loads of vitamin juices, which help to keep up energy levels during long audition days. Simon has his green swamp juice in a mug.”
Amanda, who judges with Simon on the show ‘Britain’s Got talent’, also mocked her fellow panelist for having monogrammed napkins in his house as well as black toilet paper– but she adds that he would hate anyone knowing as he is reportedly very private when it comes to toilet behavior.
Amanda said, “He would have us believe he has never been for a poo or
wee in his life! If he reads that he will absolutely hate that sentence.”
The actress – admits she can never see herself playing a character like Cinderella, fairytale character who is transformed from a drudge to the belle of the ball by a fairy godmother – because it is nothing like how she is in real life. Angelina, who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt said, “The cleaning the floors or the knight in shining armour? I don’t know, I don’t think any of them sound like me.”
The ‘Tourist’ actress admitted she is mainly attracted to playing characters who are “vulnerable”, even though some of them seem tough. She explained, “I play women that I think are vulnerable. Like in ‘Girl, Interrupted’, I have a huge breakdown – very emotional, very unhappy, but she’s considered psychotic and a scary, tough woman.”
While Angelina prefers “vulnerable” characters, a former bodyguard of the actress recently described her as “totally psycho”. He said, “Angelina has a public and a private persona. In my opinion, the real Angelina is self-centred and a control freak. She has no patience at all. She doesn’t do things out of the kindness of her heart. “And she’s totally psycho … she screams and yells a lot, then ways away.”
As news of the death of Gary Coleman at a Utah hospital yesterday afternoon lit up Twitter, many of those tweeting wondered how the actor’s death would affect the popular Broadway show Avenue Q.
“Gary Coleman” is a central character in the production, introduced in an ensemble song called “It Sucks To Be Me.” The main characters all argue, in a song, about how it “sucks to be” them. Coleman’s character, played by a woman, introduces himself and all the characters rapidly agree his life “sucks” the worst.
As Coleman fell ill Wednesday and died Friday, the show’s creators struggled with the character’s future in the popular musical. Jokes made at Coleman’s expense, they felt, might come off as crass or unfeeling. Creator Jeff Whitty says removing the character altogether was discussed, but in the end, they decided to cut little from the show:
Mr. Whitty said he feared that the jokes in “Avenue Q” about Mr. Coleman’s career and financial troubles would now seem offensive. “The question came up for me,” he said, “so do we bring in a new character?”
Instead, the creators decided to make small changes throughout, some of them crafted backstage in midperformance. (A line in which the Coleman character refers to himself as a “former child star” became simply “child star.”)
“We probably cut 20 words out of 1 million from the show tonight,” Mr. Whitty said.
Danielle K. Thomas, who played Coleman first on Broadway and now off-Broadway, says she was initially very nervous about going on stage as Coleman after his death, but the audience was appreciative:
But the audience clapped and cheered enthusiastically for her, and laughed through numbers like “Schadenfreude” (in which Coleman sings that the world needs people like himself “Who’ve been knocked around by fate’/’Cause when people see us, they don’t want to be us”) and “Everyone’s a Little Bit Racist”(in which he admits he enjoys jokes about Polish people).
“That is the style of ‘Avenue Q,’ ” Ms. Thomas said, “to slap you in the face to the point where nothing offends you and everything becomes O.K.”
Below is a clip of the show’s song “It Sucks To Be Me.”
