Russell Brand lived with a squad of American marines because he wanted to toughen up.

The comedian, who recently took up kick-boxing in an attempt to get fit for his wedding to singer Katy Perry, has revealed he bunkered down with a group of tough military men for a weekend but struggled to keep up with them.

Speaking to US TV talk show host David Letterman, he said, “I love the marines. I respect them and can’t believe what heroic deeds they do and the way they live. I went to live with them for 48 hours to see what it would be like.

“I wish I could say I did rather well. But it was compromising. I slept in a dorm with 70 of them. I know this because just before bed each has to shout out their name, or number… Then they woke me up at 3.30 in the morning to go on a 10km hike, with 70lbs of luggage in a big backpack. A lot of the stuff in it, you didn’t even need! Three sleeping bags – there’s only one of me.”

The British funnyman’s fiance has also been preparing for the big day, by cutting back on her favorite foods.

Katy recently spoke about how she has had to stop indulging in many of the waist-expanding delicacies she loves, which include Chinese food and pizza, because she puts on weight.

Listing many of her favorite calorific treats, she said, “My fave things include barbeque chicken chop at CPK Chinese, chicken salad at Chinchins, Rock shrimp and yellow tail sashimi at Nobu, Crispy beef at Mr.Chow’s, four curry chicken salad at Urth Cafe, my beloved double double at In-N-Out Burger. All so good but so bad!”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s twins are just like their parents, the actress’ dad Jon Voight has revealed.

The 71-year-old actor, who only recently reconciled with daughter Angelina after a seven-year feud, says Vivienne has her mother’s famous good looks, while Knox is as laid back as his father.

Jon told Fox News, “One takes after Angie and one after Brad, they are really amazing. The boy is very quiet, he has this calming, relaxed personality that Brad has. And the girl, well, she’s just stunning like Angelina. Just beautiful.”

The Oscar-winning actor joked he is responsible for his amazing 22-month-old grandchildren.

He credits it to his “good genes”, but added, “Brad and Angelina are incredibly good parents.”

Jon got to spend time with his six grandkids – the twins, Maddox, eight, Pax, six, Zahara, five, and Shiloh, three – during a trip to Venice in February, where they stayed at the Suite of the Gods, a luxurious hotel that sits next to a winery and the Aegean Sea.

Angelina was in Italy at the time to shoot her latest movie ‘The Tourist’ with Johnny Depp.

Former Death Row Records head Suge Knight is in trouble again, arrested by the LAPD early this morning and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Knight, 45, was also charged with driving with a suspended license. He was pulled over around 12:30am in South Los Angeles after a man accused him of robbery. Knight allegedly brandished a weapon at the unidentified man. He was brought to the station and booked, and later released on $65,000 bail.

Rolling Stone did a quick run-down of many of Knight’s legal woes over the past decade:

Knight was arrested in 1992 and sentenced to seven years probation for assault charges. He violated parole and served four years from 1997 to 2001, and was behind bars again in 2003 after attacking a parking lot attendant. Knight was also arrested in August 2008 on drug and assault charges stemming from an incident with his girlfriend, but he was later cleared of all related charges. In February 2009, Knight was badly beaten at an NBA All-Star Game party by a man claiming to be Akon’s business manager. A month later, Akon’s producer Noel “Detail” Fisher was robbed as rumored retribution; while Knight was implicated in the robbery, he was never charged.

Knight is also currently suing Kanye West in relation to an incident at a MTV VMA party West was hosting. Knight racked up extensive medical bills after being shot in the leg at the party at the Shore Club. The former record label head is seeking $1m in damages from West for the incident.

Simon Cowell “worries” he’s too old to have children.

The 50-year-old star, who has previously hinted that he would be ready to start a family with his make-up artist fiance Mezhgan Hussainy, admitted time was against him if he planned to have children in the future.

Speaking to the US TV chat show host Oprah Winfrey, he said: “I… you know, I worry about that because of my age. You know, when I was younger, my dad used to play soccer and, you know, games with me and I worry – I worry that if I was 70… it worries me a bit.”

The ‘X Factor’ star admitted he probably doesn’t have the time, or patience, for a baby and joked it would be easier if a child could be born a little older.

He said, “Not that it’s absolutely out of the question… if they could be born at the age of five… maybe. Maybe that will happen.”

The media mogul also made the admission that despite all his TV success, he still suffered periods of depression where he reflected on “horrific” past decisions he’d made.

He said, “I get very, very down. I’ve made some absolutely horrific mistakes in the past.”

Only recently, Simon spoke about his future plans with 36-year-old Mezhgan and claimed he was “torn” about the decision to have children.

He said, “I’m kind of torn because I’m a bit too old to have kids, but then again I think it would be important to have a lot of mess around in the future.”

Justin Bieber thinks he is a “great” kisser.

The 16-year-old singer insists that despite his young age, he has already grown romantically close to more than one person, and believes his smooching technique is better than average.

He said, “I’m a good – I’m a great kisser. I’ve made out with a couple of chicks.”

The ‘Baby’ hitmaker, who was given a Range Rover car by his mentor Usher as a 16th birthday gift, also revealed he loves to take his dates out in the vehicle so they can find a secluded place to stop.

He added on the Johnjay and Rich radio show, “I mean, if you’re driving you make a little stop at, you know, the Wal-Mart rest stop… you’re good.”

Usher recently revealed that as well as taking control of Justin’s music career, he has also taught him how to handle himself with women.

He said, “Justin is 16 so he can’t really hang out yet. But as a youth, I was running the streets with Puffy and that’s basically how I made my start so I keep promising I’ll get him in a club one time, maybe it’ll be a party or something.

“But he knows exactly what to do with the screaming girls. I taught him well.”

Amanda Seyfried and Dominic Cooper are “taking a break” from their relationship.

The actress, who has been dating her ‘Mamma Mia!’ co-star since they first started working together on the movie in 2008, has reportedly decided to have some time apart from her British lover while they both work out what they want.

A source told People.com, “Amanda and Dominic have been on and off for a while – and right now they’re taking a break. But they’re great friends and could still get back together.”

Despite months of speculation about the stability of their romance, the 24-year-old beauty and the ‘An Education’ actor are still in constant contact as they try and work through their problems.

Another source said, “They still talk all the time and are trying to work things out. There is no drama. They are just on a break.”

Last month, the pretty blonde admitted she wasn’t sure if the 31-year-old hunk was ‘The One’.

She said, “I don’t know if Dominic’s ‘The One’, but he’s the funniest person I’ve met – and that’s major in my book.”

On Tuesday evening, May 18, Dominic was spotted with his arm around Lindsay Lohan’s waist at a Belvedere party at French nightspot LeBaron in Cannes, where they allegedly partied until 5am.

A fellow partygoer said, “It definitely looked like something was going on between them.”

Megan Fox won’t be appearing as Shia LeBeouf’s love interest in a third installment of Transformers, although the party behind that decision remains unclear.

Paramount Pictures reps say the studio passed the actress over to reprise her role as Mikaela Barnes:

…according to Nikki Finke at Deadline.com, it was director Michael Bay who made the call.

“Giving Shia a new love interest [for Shia LeBeouf's character] makes more sense for the story,” an insider said, according to Finke.

PR flak for Fox wouldn’t let the comments stand, insisting that Fox rejected the role and not the other way around. Reps for Fox say:

“It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best.”

Fox and Bay took some shots at one another in interviews since Transformers 2 hit theaters, with Fox comparing the director to “Hitler” and calling him a “nightmare to work for.” Bay hit back, saying:

“She says some very ridiculous things,” Bay responded at the time. “And she still has a lot of growing up to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, ‘Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want.’”

It seemed for a while that the starlet and the director had made up, and as recently as October, Bay said on his blog that he was looking forward to working with Fox on Transformers 3. Reportedly, Emmanuelle Chiriqui , Zoe Saldana, Bar Rafaeli and Brooklyn Decker are all possibilities for Fox’s former role.

Courtney Love claims she had sex with Kate Moss.

The Hole singer says she and the supermodel had a fling in Milan, Italy, in the 90s but is adamant Kate won’t care about her lesbian revelations.

She told Irish magazine Hot Press, “It was Kate Moss. She doesn’t care. It’s a great story for the grandchildren, so yeah. Kate wasn’t doing a lot of drugs it was just a thing that happened in Milan in the 90s.

“It happened and it was fun and whatever. And she talks about it and so I hope she doesn’t get mad that I outed her about it.

“I feel like such a kiss and tell. Kate’s great, though! Kate’s a good friend of mine. I almost bought her house in St John’s Wood, London.”

Both Kate and Courtney have had tempestuous love lives.

Kate, 36, is currently dating The Kills guitarist Jamie Hince, and has previously romanced Johnny Depp and troubled singer Pete Doherty.

Courtney is best known for her marriage to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, who killed himself in April 1994.

She also dated Gavin Rossdale prior to his marriage to No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani.

Discussing Gavin, she said, “Me and Gavin dated for eight months, but never when they were engaged. He was playing the field. One night Gavin made roast chicken and it was really, really good. And then we snogged and he was really good at it. He’d improved vastly from the last time we’d snogged.”

She is currently in a relationship with hotelier Andre Balazs and is said to have “hit the roof” last week when he began chatting to a business partner on a night out.

A source said, “Andre was stopped by a woman he knew. As soon as he started talking to her, Courtney hit the roof. It was obvious to everyone that the woman was a business associate, but not to Courtney. She acted like a toddler!”

Cheryl Cole only started to feel “womanly” three years ago.

The Girls Aloud singer, who regularly tops polls to find the best dressed women in the world, has revealed she felt a lot more comfortable in trainers and casual clothing until a few years ago, when she suddenly realized wearing pretty clothes and high-heeled would make her feel better about herself.

She explained in an interview with Stylist magazine, “About three years ago, I started to realize if you wear a pair of heels you feel more womanly. It was a ‘penny drop’ moment. I’d argue with the stylist and the girls to wear trainers all the time. I only developed all those ‘womanly’ things in the past three years. I’d snap my neck for shoes and handbags.”

The 26-year-old beauty also likes to wear her hair in “big” styles to keep her looking feminine.

She added, “Well you always feel good once you’ve sprayed your hair. The higher the hair, the closer to heaven. It’s true. If I could have it higher, I would.

“It just makes you feel more womanly. I would rather have big hair and no make-up on than make-up and flat hair. All the way.”
