Catherine Zeta Jones gave a tearful speech as her husband Michael Douglas received the Chaplin Award on Monday, May 25.

The ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’ actor – who has 31-year-old son Cameron from his previous marriage and Dylan, nine, and seven-year-old Carys with his current spouse – collected the prestigious accolade at the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 37th annual ceremony on Monday night, which was also attended by Bette Midler and Danny DeVito.

Catherine, who Michael affectionately called Cathy at the awards, said through tears, “I’m most proud of Michael for the role of a father; the commitment to the three of our children, Cameron, Dylan and Carys, is extraordinary. And I thank you every day for that, darling.”

The event was a more sombre affair than last year’s ceremony, which saw Tom Hanks pick up the coveted honour, reportedly because of the “impact” Cameron’s recent five-year jail term for drug dealing has had on his family.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper, “No one could shake the feeling that what Michael had gone through with his son was still omnipresent. It definitely had an impact on the evening.

“It would have been nice for Michael if it was a bit more festive, although I think everyone understood why it was a little different than years past. But it was still so important – and really moving – how many of his colleagues and friends came out to support him.”

It was also noticed that the 65-year-old actor left Cameron out of his acceptance speech, despite mentioning his other children.

The couple, who have a four-year-old daughter Suri, always try to learn from their mistakes and consult each other on how to correct their errors.

Tom – who has previously been married to Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rogers – explained, “Because we do live in a cynical world, it’s easy to be cynical. Making the choice not to be cynical is important. You can keep dwelling on what didn’t work, or you can figure out how to fix it.

“You know, I’m married to such a special woman. Every night before we go to sleep, Katie and I look at each other and it’s like, ‘How’d we do today?’ ”

As well as his close bond with Katie, Tom – who attended 15 schools in 12 years, has a strong attachment to his three sisters as he had few friends growing up and they encouraged his love of acting.

He explained in an interview with America’s Esquire magazine, “You hear about people who have lifelong friends. I never was in a place long enough to have them. So that role was filled by my family.

“If anyone was teasing my sisters, I really felt it… I’d create different characters and ad-lib sketches to make my sisters and my mother feel better. I’d try to make them laugh.

“I’d do Donald Duck as John Wayne. I’d watch ‘Soul Train’ and imitate the dancers. I guess you can say that’s where it started. I always had a dream to be in movies, my family didn’t say, ‘That’s impossible’. They laughed.”

British Russell, 34, also claimed he was happy to settle in the US with Katy as he loves it so much there.

An exotic dancer from Brooklyn is suing Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, filing a paternity suit after she claims the player knocked her up and abandoned her.

25-year-old Silvia Mena says she told the NFL star she was expecting in late February, and that by late March, he’d left her alone to deal with the pregnancy. Haynesworth, who signed a $100m contract late last year with the NFL, is alleged to have suggested Mena visit a “NFL doctor” during her pregnancy- but the dancer feared “some effort might be made to purposefully make her lose the child.” Mena said that aside from that, Haynesworth has not moved to support her or assist with medical bills since learning of her condition:

She claims in the documents that after learning about the pregnancy, Haynesworth promised to “emotionally and financially support Silvia.” But, “after making such promises . . . Haynesworth has abandoned the pregnant Sylvia Mena . . . He has refused to provide any emotional or financial support of Silvia Mena or his unborn child.”

Mena’s lawyer, Salvatore Strazzullo, says his client has had to obtain Medicaid to deal with expenses related to the pregnancy. Haynesworth’s agent declined comment on the allegations.

Celine Dion is “waiting for good news” about a second pregnancy.

The 42-year-old singer, who has a nine-year-old son Rene-Charles with husband Rene Angelil, confesses she doesn’t like to talk about having more children but would love to add to her family in the future.

She said, “Well we’re crossing our fingers. We’re waiting for good news hopefully. I don’t want to talk about it so much because I’m superstitious, but I know people have been very wonderful for us and praying for us. Right now we are crossing our fingers, we hope for the best and I can’t wait to give people good news.”

The French-Canadian star also admits she will not release any information until she is sure she is pregnant as she doesn’t want to confuse fans.

She told Wendy Williams on her TV show, “Once you live in showbusiness and everything spreads out so quick and every pregnancy you have to wait three months to make sure it’s all ok and it’s nerve racking. We’re not getting any younger and you always think it’s your last chance, you’re last try.

“I don’t want to jinx myself and say, ‘We think we are’ and then someone hears the wrong thing and it’s, ‘She’s not and she is and she’s not and she is’. It’s terrible. It’s exactly what we don’t want – the fans, the people to hear that. We continue to wait and we hope for the best.”

Earlier this year, Celine claimed she would undergo in vitro fertilisation (IVF) for the fifth time to get pregnant.

Jesse James checked into rehab to help get over his abusive childhood.

The motorcycle entrepreneur, who allegedly cheated on estranged wife Sandra Bullock with at least four women, entered Arizona’s Sierra Tucson Rehab Facility last month and while he was getting treatment for sex addiction and anger management he also wanted to stop his violent father dictating his personal life.

The 40-year-old star, who lived with his dad Larry James following his parents’ divorce,- told US TV show ‘Nightline’: “My whole childhood I never had a chance to be a kid.

“I remember the clenched-teeth, strained-neck look on his face. He beat my a*s pretty good a bunch of times. Football star, bike builder, ‘Monster Garage’ TV star—all that stuff is a huge smokescreen so people won’t see that I’m a scared, abused kid, a seven-year-old.”

However, Jesse’s father has denied the allegations.

Jesse, who has three children from previous marriages and was in the process of adopting a baby boy with Sandra when the cheating allegations surfaced, admits his past had ruined his ability to be a good husband to the Oscar-winning actress.

The biker, who has since left rehab said, “I don’t think I have a sex addiction where I’m running around trying to have sex with everyone and I can’t stop.

“I think I do things to sabotage myself, including having extramarital affairs, texting, over-working myself, injuring myself, doing stunts and stupid things. I do a lot of things in my life that I shouldn’t be doing that aren’t conducive to being a good husband. The affair is just one of them.”

Sandra has now adopting four-month-old Louis as a single parent and Jesse is resigned to the fact their marriage is over.

He said, “I hope of saving some kind of relationship with Sandy but we’re getting divorced.”

Cheryl Cole has filed for divorce from husband Ashley Cole.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer’s legal team lodged her request for a “quickie” divorce at London’s High Court yesterday, May 25, where she cited his “unreasonable behaviour” as the reason behind the end of their three-and-a-half-year marriage.

This comes just months after it was alleged the soccer player had cheated on her with numerous women.

In a bid to end their union as quickly as possible, the 26-year-old beauty has told the England star she doesn’t want any of his money and he can keep their $8.6 million home if she can have a “clean break” from him.

A source told The Sun newspaper, “She wants a completely clean break with no malice or wrangling over property or money. Cheryl will not take one penny of Ashley’s money.

“Crucially, people expected her to request their mansion as part of the divorce terms. But the house means nothing to her.

“Cheryl is giving the house to him.”

Cheryl’s publicity firm Supersonic PR said in a statement, “We can confirm the divorce. We have no further comment.”

In February, the Girls Aloud star announced she was separating from her husband, after several women claimed they had received explicit picture and text messages from Ashley’s secret mobile phone and had sex with him.

In the legal documents, it states Cheryl had “put it to him that he had been unfaithful” and he “admitted” it was true.

The source added, “She has fully accepted there is no going back after Ashley’s cheating and their marriage breakdown.

“So this divorce will be clean, swift, amicable and smooth. Cheryl has no spite towards Ashley and has been incredibly mature and considered in how she has handled the split.”

It is believed Cheryl had planned to file for divorce in July, the month in which they would have celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary, but decided to bring it forward so their union will have ended before the World Cup soccer tournament starts in South Africa next month.

The Black Eyed Peas star’s mother Debra Adams has revealed the pair have grown increasingly close since touring together and claims the producer is “very fond” of the British singer, who split from husband Ashley Cole in February after he was unfaithful to her.

She said, “Will is very fond of Cheryl. He says she’s an amazing woman. His feelings for her have grown from friendship into love and they’re good for each other.”

Debra also admits she is excited about meeting the ‘Fight for This Love’ hitmaker in the near future.

She told LOOK magazine, “I can’t wait to meet Cheryl. He’s told me lots of good things about her. Will has promised to take us out for a meal together next time the two of them are in Los Angeles.

“I give them my blessing. I like her and she seems like a nice girl.”

While Debra is keen to meet Cheryl, the Girls Aloud beauty’s mother Joan has already got close to the US star when they hung out together backstage at the Black Eyed Peas concert at the O2 Arena in London earlier this month.

An onlooker said, “After posing for pictures with fans, Cheryl joined will.i.am who was visibly happier to have her there with him, and even spent some time talking to her mum, who came to watch her perform. Cheryl’s mum obviously got on with will.i.am so she seems to approve of the friendship.”

The reality TV star, who has shed over 40lbs in the past year, always ensures she accompanies her 20-year-old fiance Luke Worrall to the gym, even if she doesn’t feel well, because she worries she won’t see a difference if she misses a session.

She said, “I like to go to the gym three times a week with Luke – even when I’m not feeling great. It almost feels like I’m sweating out the rubbish! We go to the gym together, but we don’t work out together – I work out with my trainer.

“I do Power Plates and cardio work, and he gets in shape with weights. I think I’m reaching that addictive stage of working out, where I know if I just put in an hour, I’ll feel the difference. I’m not at the point where I can be bothered putting in two hours though!”

The 23-year-old star also credits her appearance on US TV talent show ‘Dancing with the Stars’ for overhauling her meal plans as she is now more aware of what is good for her.

She added in her column for Closer magazine, “I’ve completely changed the way I eat since doing ‘Dancing with the Stars’.”

Kelly has previously spoken about how Pilates in particular has helped her to stay in shape.

She said, “Pilates is amazing, my posture is so much better and I’m even starting to get muscles on my tummy – it’s incredible.”

But we have still come home to the same house, to each other. Matthew isn’t jealous when I’m in a movie with a sexy guy. He doesn’t seem to show any degree of being threatened by it. I don’t know, maybe he doesn’t care.”
