Parliament-Funkadelic guitarist and vocalist Garry Shider has died of brain and lung cancer.

Shider was diagnosed with the disease back in March, after he was “rushed to the hospital” near his home in Maryland. He struggled to pay the sudden avalanche of medical bills, and family, friends and fans created the Garry Shider Medical Fund to assist the musician in handling the unexpected expenses. Shider’s supporters organized benefit concerts, including one that was planned for July 10th in Bloomfield, New Jersey, featuring the band Living Color. The fundraising group confirmed the musician’s death on their website:

It is with a broken heart to say that on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, that we lost one of the greatest vocalist, guitarist, music arranger and showman of our time-Garry “Star Child” Shider.

Over the past four months, Garry fought each day against one of the deadliest diseases, so that he could do what he loved, which was to return to the stage. Which he did. For those who know Garry, you know that his determination was fierce and that he was not going to give up on life.

Over the past forty years, Garry put his stamp and signature on everything that he did musically. His talent was and always will be unmatched.

Shider first appeared on a P-Funk album in 1971, and collaborated on most of the band’s records through the present day. P-Funk leader George Clinton posted the following message on his personal website in memory of Shider:

Thank you, Garry for all you have done. Forever funkin’ on!

Information regarding funeral or memorial services for the musician has not yet been released.

The filmmaker, who was previously married to Madonna, was spotted saying goodbye to model Jacqui Ainsley in his pyjamas on his doorstep earlier this week, as she left his London apartment.

But it has now emerged exactly why the 41-year-old director had a smile on his face, after images of the 28-year-old beauty pictured as a semi-nude gaming character were released.

Jacqui, who played vixen Madison Paige in PlayStation 3’s best-selling game ‘Heavy Rain’ – showed off her womanly curves as she stripped off for a body-imaging session.

A PlayStation source told BANG Showbiz, “Jacqui wore a body suit which tracked her every move and size so her gaming character is exactly her replica – breasts and all!”

When the pair were spotted looking smitten together earlier this week, they didn’t appear to mind who saw them and even burst out laughing when they were spotted by photographer.

Another source said, “They both started laughing when they realised they had been caught out and that Guy was still in his pyjamas. They seemed very much a couple.”

Nicole Scherzinger’s driving terrifies her boyfriend.

The Pussycat Dolls singer, who reconciled her two-year romance with Formula one driver Lewis Hamilton in February after a brief split, admits she ignores her lover’s advice when she is behind the wheel, leaving him more worried than when he is competing in a dangerous high-speed race.

The 47-year-old actor admits he always puts storytelling at the forefront of his priorities when choosing a film role, and is delighted with the results of his latest effort, ‘Knight and Day’, in which he stars opposite Cameron Diaz.

Speaking at the movie’s Spanish premiere in Seville last night, June 16, he said, “It’s a real kind of wish fulfilment film. It’s got a very unique tone. It was something I was really looking to do next.

“The most important thing to me is entertaining the audience, and it always has been. I’ve worked since I was eight years old and I saved money to go to the movies, so to have that opportunity… I just consider myself a student of film, of storytelling. The film itself is the most important.”

Much of the action movie was shot in Spain and Tom, who was accompanied to the premiere by wife Katie Holmes, was glad to be able to share his free time in the country with his spouse and their four-year-old daughter Suri.

He added, “What we do is just hang out. In between, when we had the break, we just hang out. We like to walk around the city. Suri loves it here also, so we just played around.”

The actor was also thrilled to work with his “great friend” Cameron, who he previously starred in 2002’s ‘Vanilla Sky’ with, again.

He said, “I haven’t worked with her since ‘Vanilla Sky’, she’s just wonderful to work with, an incredible comedian.”

Eva Longoria Parker and husband Tony Parker are going to start trying for a baby “soon”.

The ‘Desperate Housewives’ actress and the basketball star, who married in July 2007, are keen to start a family together and the sportsman says it will happen in the near future.

When asked whether they ready for a baby, Tony replied, “We’re thinking about it. Pretty soon. She’s got one more year with ‘Desperate Housewives’, so we’ll see what happens.

“She’d be a great mom. I’d be great. I love kids.”

As Eva is one of four girls, Tony says he’ll leave it up to his 35-year-old spouse as to how many children they have.

He told Us Weekly magazine, “We’ll see. It depends on her. I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. I would love to have both.”

However, the couple won’t be conceiving in the next few weeks as Eva is busy shooting new film ‘Without Men’ while Tony is on the road with his team but he says they make a big effort to keep in touch.

He said, “Skype helps a lot. As long as you both make an effort, it works…but I miss not being able to kiss her every day!”

Eva recently revealed how happy she and Tony are.

She said, “We are just best friends. I love his company and I am married to the person I want to be with.

“I cannot ask for more. We respect each other as people and as a couple, and we trust each other. The best thing is that he loves to surprise me and I love to be surprised.”

In a tale that mimics a subplot on a later season of the show Six Feet Under, actor Jeremy London was reportedly kidnapped while attempting to change a flat tire and forced to “smoke drugs” by his captor.

The strange incident occurred last Thursday in Palm Springs, California. London, 37, who starred in Party of Five and 7th Heaven, was approached during his tire change outside the Bahama Hotel & Apartments on North Palm Canyon Drive late on June 10th. The actor was reportedly detained by the suspect for a “harrowing” five hours, during which London was made to drive his own vehicle around the area and perform a series of strange acts. London finally managed to escape early the next morning, and recounted the evening’s events to police:

Somehow a stunned London managed to escape at around 3 o’clock the next morning, the officer added.

“He told officers (during the kidnapping) that he was forced to smoke dope and then purchase booze and hand it out in a gang area of Palm Springs,” Sergeant Douglas told RadarOnline.com, in an exclusive interview.

Sergeant Douglas said London was forced to smoke “dope” — crack cocaine or amphetamines.

London’s car was later found in a notorious neighborhood of Palm Springs where the kidnapper lived.

London who is currently in the midst of a divorce from actress Melissa Cunningham, has had his own struggles with drugs in the past, including a 2004 arrest for “carrying a controlled substance.” Police have arrested a man named Brandon Adams for several felonies, including kidnapping for ransom with injury, strong arm robbery, carjacking, receiving stolen property, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent

Cheryl Cole has been taken on a surprise holiday by Derek Hough.

The ‘Fight for This Love’ singer was told to head to London’s Heathrow airport, where the dancer – who she has grown increasingly close to since splitting from husband Ashley Cole in February – revealed they were off to Tanzania in Africa.

A source close to the star explained, “It was a complete surprise for Cheryl and she couldn’t believe he had gone to so much trouble organizing it.

“She was told to take her passport and all would be revealed at the airport. She was delighted at how thoughtful he’d been.

“You can’t get more serious than a holiday. It’s early days but Cheryl is so happy. She so deserves to find love again.”

Derek’s stepfather Aaron Nelson, 54, believes the short break will further cement their blossoming romance.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper, “They are going somewhere very exotic, very picturesque and it will be a nice break for them.

“It will be one of those dream, romantic holidays that you take when you are just starting out on a relationship. Derek is totally in love with that girl and wants to spend as much time as he can with her.”

Derek is believed to have picked the east African country after Cheryl told him she fell in love with the area following her charity climb up Mount Kilimanjaro last year.

Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart got married on Tuesday,June 15.

The pair wed at the Santa Fe mansion of New Mexico’s state governor Bill Richardson – who presided over the ceremony with the assistance of the state’s Chief Justice, Charles W. Daniels – following a 16-month engagement, the 67-year-old actor’s agent has confirmed.

Governor Richardson and his wife were witnesses for the pair, and the actress’ nine-year-old adopted son Liam also attended the ceremony in the southern state, where Harrison is filming ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ with Daniel Craig.

Harrison and 45-year-old Calista began dating after they met at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards ceremony.

The ‘Indiana Jones’ actor has been married twice before, with his divorce to second wife Melissa Mathison only concluding in 2004.

Harrison revealed earlier this year he had plans to have an environmentally-friendly wedding to Calista.

Discussing whether or not his wedding would be “green”, he said, “I haven’t thought about greening my wedding. My wedding was always going to be green!”

It was previously claimed that Harrison planned to adopt Liam once he and Calista had got married.

A source said at the time, “Harrison wants to give Liam his name. He adores him as though he were his own flesh and blood. Harrison is the only dad Liam has ever known.

“There is just one detail Harrison will have to take care of – marrying Calista. She says it is fine if Harrison adopts her boy, but she wants to walk down the aisle first.”

The ‘Troy’ actress, who is dating Joshua Jackson, admits she had a mishap after stumbling onto the ‘Basic Instinct’ star while posing on an electronic two-wheeled self-balancing vehicle while wearing high-heeled shoes.

She explained, “I was at this auction last year for amfAR – a foundation for AIDS research – and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and I nearly killed Sharon Stone.

“I’m not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines, ‘Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone’.”
