Robert Downey Jr. has been honoured for his “versatility” as an actor.

The ‘Iron Man’ star received the Gene Siskel Film Center’s Renaissance Award at a gala reception at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chicago on Saturday, June 19, in recognition of his contribution to cinema.

The organization said they gave the 45-year-old star the accolade because he is one of the most respected and versatile actors of his generation.”

Reflecting on his career, Downey – who has a history of alcohol and drug addiction – singled out ‘Tropic Thunder’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’ and ‘Iron Man’ as his favourite movies of his own.

He said, “Those three movies are the most representative of my work.

“I’m just glad that I didn’t cheese out and phone in a performance on films that did so well.”

The ‘Chaplin’ star also admitted he has finally moved on from the addiction struggles that blighted his career between 1996 and 2003.

He added, “I don’t really think about it much anymore.

“I used to think, ‘Everywhere I look, there are all of these issues. I need some dope,’ But having a gargantuan hangover is not a great feeling.”

After the uproar last week following Perez Hilton tweeting a pic of Miley Cyrus in what may or may not have been a crotch revealing pose, the drama queeniest gossip blogger has done it again. Oops!

Perez explained on The View that he didn’t feel the image of a still 17-year-old Miley was illegal because he was not posting it for the sexual gratification of others. The internet wept in joy at his almost certain impending downfall, but the Cyruses decided not to press charges. Said Perez:

“I didn’t pick it for her to look like she wasn’t wearing underwear. The point of me choosing that one photo is because it was showing Miley getting out of the car in an unladylike fashion. And I just thought that was funny and in keeping with her shocking behavior of late, because she was very well aware that she was in a public place at a — at a video shoot and that there were paparazzi present.”

He also told the ladies of The View that he would happily tweet another picture of the pop-tart’s hoo-ha:

“I don’t regret what I did and I would do the same thing again … It’s not actually doing anything worse than Miley herself has been doing recently, from grinding up on her 40-something-year-old director to pole dancing to all the over-sexualized things that she has been doing and turning herself into this creature.”

And he did. So either he feels totally assured he’s not going to spend a stint in a PMITA prison, or he’s a total moron. The pic itself isn’t pornographic per se, but it would certainly give a blogger quaking in their pleather boots a second thought about jail. So Perez- really stupid, really really brave or does he have a really good lawyer? Perhaps a bit from each column?

Katy Perry wants Rihanna to strip at her bachelorette party.

The ‘California Gurls’ hitmaker, who is engaged to British funnyman Russell Brand, envies her pal’s curvy figure so much, she wants her to show it all off in a raunchy dance at her all-female pre-wedding party.

When asked how much she wants Rihanna to show, the singer replied, “The whole bit, the whole bit.

“She’s gonna get the message – she’s hot I love her and she’s the coolest chick and I want all of her curves and we have a lot in common.”

The singer also admitted Rihanna put herself in charge of organizing the evening without even having to be asked.

She told Chicago’s Kiss FM radio station, “That’s the one thing I don’t have to plan and I’m really excited about it.”

Rihanna has given the couple her blessing in the past, but also admitted she never thought the pair would end up together.

She said, “I met him a few years ago when he interviewed me, and became friends with Katy later, and it’s so funny because I would never have put the two of them together.

‘But when she told me it made so much sense. I was like, ‘Of course you guys would be together, you are both just hilarious and rude and disrespectful, it’s perfect.’ “

Michael Jackson’s children will start school in September, so they can make friends.

The late King of Pop’s mother Katherine Jackson – who is the legal guardian of his three kids, Prince Michael, 13, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Prince Michael II, known as Blanket – has revealed the trio are due to enrol at a new education centre later in the year, to help them befriend youngsters their own ages.

Katherine said: “They don’t have any friends. They don’t go to school, they have private lessons at home – but that will change in September, when they are due to enrol at private college. But they have their cousins and aunts and uncles around them constantly, and that’s helped them immensely.

“To them, it’s normal, it’s the life they have known. They have a certain time to go to bed, then they get up and get dressed for lessons. They practice karate and swim, which they love.”

Michael died on June 25 2009 from acute Propofol intoxication, aged 50.

However, his children provide the Jackson family with continuous memories of the pop star, because they all has personality traits similar to his.

Katherine explained to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, “Paris has that lovely way, just like him, and I see his talent in her. Whatever she does, she is very good at it. She’s a good artist, she plays the piano and she wants to be an actress. Prince is serious about a lot of things. He wants to be a cameraman or produce movies. He is dedicated to that, like Michael was. And Blanket is very playful, like Michael was.”

Katherine, 80, has also revealed her son was so protective of his young children – who he raised alone – he deliberately kept his fame from them for as long as possible – so they wouldn’t get “egos”.

She added, “He said, ‘I never told them what I do’. He didn’t want them to know… He didn’t want them walking around with egos! So when they went to the 30th show, the two little ones were in the audience. Michael got backstage and they said, ‘You’re a big star! When I grow up, I want to be like you!’ Michael said that gave him the biggest chuckle.”

Kylie Minogue likes to test her boyfriends.

The ‘All the Lovers’ hitmaker, who has been dating model Andres Velencoso since October 2008, realized her current relationship was strong because of the way the Spanish hunk was able to cope when he joined her on the road.

She explained, “There is a big test with me and boyfriends. It’s when I am on the road because that’s when it’s most difficult.

“Andres was around for a bunch of the North American tour dates. And I didn’t have to worry about him.”

The 42-year-old star, whose previous boyfriends include actor Olivier Martinez and late singer Michael Hutchence, admitted Andres’ laid-back attitude helps her to stay relaxed in their relationship.

She told Australia’s Sunday Telegraph newspaper, “He took care of himself. He’s very independent.

A source said, “Katie loves Diversity, so Alex is thrilled to be working with them. They’ve arranged to lead the first dance, then Alex will dance with them.

The event is expected to be a big departure from the glamour model’s previous wedding to singer Peter Andre, with Katie keen to have a classy affair.

The source added to The Sun newspaper, “This time she’s going to be a lot more understated. There will also be no sit down meal and instead she is going for a buffet style dinner. She wants a ball rather than a disco for a party.”

Katie, who married Alex in a secret ceremony in Las Vegas in February, admits she is excited to get the blessing to her new husband underway.

Heidi Range is taking a break from wedding planning.

The Sugababes star, who got engaged to presenter Dave Berry in December, is looking forward to her big day but needs to focus on several of her friends’ impending nuptials in the near future.

The X Factor judge, who is currently in Australia preparing for the birth of her first child with British boyfriend Kris Smith, claims she never saw a baby in her future until she became pregnant.

She said, “I just never thought it was something I would do. I had never been broody. No clock was ticking. And I would never have wanted to do it unless I was in the right relationship. He felt like the one.

“Kris loves me pregnant and that’s a big, big help. You do have hormonal days and I think if anything was said that left me thinking, ‘What did he mean by that?’ it might have got to me. But he is loving every minute of it.”

The 38-year-old singer also admits her older sister Kylie Minogue is not jealous of her having a baby and is simply glad to be alive following her recovery from breast cancer.

Discussing her place on the judging panel on British TV talent show The X Factor, Dannii admits she finds comparisons with Cheryl Cole tough, but is hardened to it.
