Meat Loaf has wanted to change his name for 38 years – because it makes him sound like a clown.

The ‘Bat out of Hell’ hitmaker, whose real name is Marvin Lee Aday, likes that his moniker stands out but worries it makes him look unprofessional, with similarities to that of a circus performer.

Discussing what his biggest challenge has been, he said, “My name. It works because people remember it, but it doesn’t work because people don’t take me seriously – it’s like a Barnum and Bailey clown name. I’ve wanted to change it since 1972.”

Meat Loaf first launched into the music scene the late 70s, and has performed in a number of conditions, embarrassing himself on stage “every night”.

The 62-year-old rocker said, “I’ve gone on stage with a broken leg, in a wheelchair, on crutches. The only thing I haven’t done is cut off my ear.

“My gigs are built on improvisation – I go out there and I’m like the Energizer bunny. Every night, I come off and go into the band’s room and say, ‘People don’t ever let me do that again.’ “

“My face goes by on the bus and she goes, ‘You just almost got killed by your own bus. That would have been so embarrassing.”

The ‘When Love Takes Over’ singer, who is currently single, admits making her career her biggest priority can cause friction with her lovers.

She explained, “When I do find boyfriends or go on a date, they get sick of me pretty quick.

“And I thought that was the funniest thing because I’d never thought about it like that. I stopped crying and was like, ‘Oh yeah!’ So I wrote down my list of what I wanted and didn’t want and my list is good now.”

Oksana, 39, has refused to comment on the situation, saying only, “I can’t talk about that” when asked if the actor was ever violent towards her.

However, one of her friends confirmed the alleged violence happened in January but added: “There were other acts after January that were not physical but still constituted domestic violence.”

It was reported yesterday, June 25, that the 54-year-old actor has also sought a restraining order against his former partner.

It is now believed that the legal papers were served in a bid to keep certain information out of the public eye.
