Angelina Jolie learned to fly as a birthday present for her son.

The actress, who raises six children with partner Brad Pitt, took pilot lessons after realizing how much her eldest child, Maddox, now eight, enjoyed watching planes go by.

She explained, “When Maddox was one and a half, we used to go to the airfield, have lunch and watch the planes. And it dawned on me: I could fly. So I promised him I would fly by his second birthday.”

The ‘Salt’ star admits she loves boarding a plane alone as it is the only time she gets the solitude she craves.

She added to Vanity Fair magazine, “it’s the only place I’m completely alone – up in the air, detached from everything.

“Brad loves the technical aspects. He loves the checks, loves all the maths. I’m terrible at the maths, but I love that I can go anywhere and have that freedom. He’s more patient. I tend to drive it to the ground.”

Paris Hilton was arrested on drug charges in South Africa last night, July 2.

The hotel heiress was taken into police custody and held in a cell after watching the soccer World Cup match between Brazil and Holland in Port Elizabeth as undercover police officers said they had found local marijuana, known as ‘dagga’, in her handbag.

Paris had been followed by detectives as she boarded a luxury bus that had taken her, her friends and movie star Leonardo DiCaprio to the quarter-final game and when officers unleashed their sniffer dogs, they went straight to the blonde beauty and her pals.

A police source claimed, “The stadium is a smoke-free zone but at the end of the match an officer noticed Ms Hilton appeared to be smoking. Upon closer examination it became obvious she was smoking weed. That’s when she was arrested.”

Paris, who was taken to a police station close to the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, then appeared in court.

However, early this morning, July 3, all charges against Paris were dropped after her friend admitted possession of cannabis.

Freelance photographer Jennifer Rovero, who accompanied Paris to South Africa, accepted the charge and was sentenced to a 1,000 rand fine or 30 days imprisonment.

Paris’ representative Dawn Miller said, “I can confirm that the incident was a complete misunderstanding and it was actually another person in the group who did it. The case has been dropped against Paris and no charges will be made.”

This is not the first time Paris has been in trouble with the law.

In 2006, the reality TV star was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) and in 2007 she served 23 days in prison for violating probations conditions.

Victoria Beckham has been told to “stick to fashion”.

The former Spice Girls star has been advised by Dane Bowers, who she collaborated with on the 2000 True Steppers single ‘Out of Your Mind’, not to return to the pop industry as her work as a designer is much better than her musical talent.

Dane told BANG Showbiz, “I think she should stick to fashion design but she’d probably say that herself. The whole fashion thing is definitely where her future lies.”

However, the 31-year-old singer insisted Victoria has more vocal ability than she is given credit for.

He added, “She’s the first person to say that she’s no Mariah Carey but she can hold a tune. You don’t make it as far as the Spice Girls did if you can’t sing at all”.

Despite being known for her aversion to fame, Kristen admits one of the biggest perks of her job is her involvement in the fashion industry and access to beautiful clothes.

She added, “I like fashion because it’s sort of my job, so I’m into it when I have to be. But when I’m not working, I wear jeans and T-shirts. I go to vintage stores all the time to find funky T-shirts.”

It will have been absolutely devastating for her to accept it was over.”

One possibility the couple explored to save their ailing relationship was for Lou to quit his job in London to be with the singer in America.

The source explained to Look magazine, “Leona and Lou really wanted to make things work. They talked about him moving out to California but his life is in London and he’s a home-loving guy. Leona is a global figure which means being in America for a lot of the time, and he wasn’t interested in that type of life.”

Leona’s friend and mentor Simon Cowell is said to be worried about the star following her love split.

The insider said, “Simon realised very quickly that Leona was a sensitive girl who needed a reassuring arm around her shoulders. No wonder her team are getting worried about who will turn up in Lou’s place. They were all big fans of Lou, because he was a stabilizing person in her hectic life.”

Taylor Lautner would happily date a fan.

The ‘Twilight Saga’ actor, who has previously dated singer Taylor Swift, admits he doesn’t have very strict criteria when it comes to choosing a girlfriend.

He said, “Would I date a fan? Well I don’t exclude anyone, so sure, why not?

“I don’t have a type physically, but loyalty and honesty are important, and also someone who can also just be herself and just let loose and have fun.”

However, though the 18-year-old star claims he doesn’t have a type, he admits to having a crush on actress Jessica Alba.

He added, “I’ve always been a big fan of Jessica Alba. So I have to throw her name out there. Yeah, I’d have to stick with her because I’ve always loved Jessica.”

Taylor recently admitted he still lives at home with his parents, and is expected to help out around the house.

He said, “I help out with the lawn, garbage, dishes”.

Even when he is away filming, Taylor’s parents don’t let him off his duties when he returns to the family home.

He joked, “When I come back, I have extra mowing to do.”
