Lea Michele Records ‘Beautiful And Perfect’ Song For Cory Monteith

Lea Michele Glee

Lea Michele has been having a rough time in the wake of Cory Monteith’s death and she could use all the support she can get. Thankfully, Michele is currently surrounded by her friends and family on the set of Glee.

The young singer returned to the set earlier this week to start work on season five.

Michele wrote on Twitter today that it “feels good to be home.”

The singer also said that she recorded a “beautiful & perfect” song to start season 5. Michele didn’t say what she sang but it most likely dealt with Cory Monteith’s death. Marie Claire reports that the fifth season of Glee will include a tribute episode to the late star.

Creator Ryan Murphy said that the tribute episode would be the third episode of the season and will deal directly with the issues surrounding Monteith’s death. Michele didn’t say what song she recorded but the “beautiful & perfect” song must have been very emotional for her.

The singer writes on Twitter: “Thank you @alxanders & @AdamAnders for a great recording session today.. You guys are the best”

Lea Michele also posted the first photo of Rachel Berry from the 5th season of Glee.

Are you surprised that Lea Michele returned to Glee so quickly after Cory Monteith’s death? The singer obviously feels like she has a support group within the Glee cast but it has to be hard dealing with a personal issue in front of the camera.

Oprah Talks Black History At ‘The Butler’ Press Conference

Oprah Winfrey

It’s been fifteen years since we’ve seen Oprah Winfrey up on the big screen. Fast forward to 2011, and it was impossible to think that Oprah would ever find the time, or energy to go back to acting. So why would she agree to take a role in The Butler, especially since at the time, she was in the middle of launching her own network?

To understand her answer, is to see Lee Daniels’ The Butler in its entirety. The historical film is a revolution in African-American cinema, in that it’s from a black perspective, but doesn’t talk down to “White America.” Not only does it fill in the pages in between antiquated history text books, but it brings it to life in a way we haven’t seen before. Oprah is the matriarch as Gloria, a philandering, alcoholic, who has to watch her husband Cecil Gaines, (Forest Whitaker) work extremely grueling hours during his 34-years as a White House butler. Oprah is just one piece that rounds out the stunning cast of Lee Daniels’ The Butler. The ensemble cast also includes Forest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, James Marsden, Liev Schreiber, Alan Rickman, Robin Williams, Minka Kelly, John Cusack, Jesse Williams, Terrence Howard, Lenny Kravitz, Jane Fonda, Mariah Carey, Vanessa Redgrave, and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Oprah Winfrey and select members of the cast gathered at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City to discuss Lee Daniels’ powerful and very relevant film. The Inquisitr’s Niki Cruz highlights Oprah’s thoughts on African-American history and her own journey.

“I’m a student of my own history.”

Oprah Winfrey: I’m a student of my own history, of African-American history. I believe that when you know who you are, you will have the ability to move forward with not just the strength of yourself, but the strength of your entire ancestry. [It is] the ability to tell that story of The Butler in an entertaining way that would offer an opportunity for the rest of the world to experience a part of our history.

“People can see that we are more alike than different.”

Winfrey: When you see the two of us at the bus station sending our son off to college, it’s how every parent regardless of race, economic background, feels when you have to let go of your son. I wanted to allow the spirit and integrity of all of the African-American women who stood by their men and held their families together with their grip, and allowed their own dreams to be oppressed. I thought a lot about what it meant to be a woman in the 50s and 60s, a woman like Gloria, or a woman like myself, or anyone in this room. All of us got a little fire inside. She’s a composite of women of that era who sacrificed. The Butler couldn’t be who he was had it not been for her.

The duality of faces – a face for the white people, and a face for your own:

Winfrey: I don’t feel that at all. When I was 19, and I was interviewing Jesse Jackson as a young reporter in Nashville, Tennessee, he said to me then, “One of your gifts is to be able to be yourself on TV.” I have made a career on my own authenticity. I don’t have one face that I present to the white world, and another to the black world. I talk to my dogs the same way I’m talking right now. It’s always been in sync to me. I say that with great pride and homage and honor to the people who were the generation before me. I am a daughter of a maid, and my grandmother was a maid, and her mother was a maid, and her mother was a slave. I felt validated by the war that the Butler and his entire generation fought in their own way. Because of the courage, and conviction of a generation’s shoulders that we all stood on, I never had to do it.

“Lee Daniels is a truth seeker.”

Winfrey: I had worked with him on Precious during the behind the scenes, so I wanted the opportunity to be in his hands. Contrary to what people assume about me, I’m really not a control freak. I have lived through the Kennedy assassination, so I definitely had some opinions about that. Lee Daniels is a truth seeker. He will literally not let any of his actors get away with a breath that is a false moment. He doesn’t allow you as an actor to get away with anything that remotely appears to be fake.

Kick-Ass 2 Star Sneakily Mocks Jim Carrey Over Violence Complaints

Chloe Grace Moretz Kick-Ass 2

Chloe Grace Moretz is a sneaky ninja, and we’re not just talking about her Kick-Ass character Hit-Girl.

Not too long ago, actor Jim Carrey distanced himself from Kick-Ass 2 (in which he plays the hyper-violent Colonel Stars and Stripes) announcing that he will not support the film due to its high level of violence. He said at the time that the recent Sandy Hook tragedy caused him to re-think his participation in violent movies.

Moretz, 16, is the latest person associated with the film to respond to Carrey’s concerns. Though she insisted that she respects his decision, she went on a pretty long rant about people who have trouble with violent movies.

“It’s a movie,” she tells Britain’s The Sun of Kick-Ass 2.

“If you are going to believe and be affected by an action film, you shouldn’t go to see ‘Pocahontas’ because you are going to think you are a Disney princess. If you are that easily swayed, you might see ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and think you are a serial killer. It’s a movie and it’s fake, and I’ve known that since I was a kid… I don’t want to run around trying to kill people and cuss. If anything, these movies teach you what not to do.”

While implying that Carrey’s beliefs re misguided at best, she relents:

“Each to their own. I know the movie I made and it’s all good and I respect his decision.”

Sarah Hyland Looking To Branch Out Beyond ‘Modern Family’

Sarah Hyland appears ready to take on new roles as she moves beyond just her Modern Family role.

Sarah Hyland may play a teen on Modern Family, the actress looked all grown up at the premiere of Lovelace in Los Angeles on Monday.

Earning high marks for her fashion, Hyland showed off a more mature side than her Modern Family character would let on. It seems to fit in with the career path for the 22-year-old young actress, who is moving beyond her role as a popular and cunning teenager on the hit ABC show to make a bigger mark on Hollywood.

For the premiere, Hyland wore a stylish black dress, which featured a leaf-shaped cutout in the middle of her chest. She also had a frilly skirt and pair of sleek open-toed heels, creating what was described as a “sexy-but-classy feel.”

The subject of Lovelace is quite a stretch from Hyland’s work in Modern Family. The movie stars Amanda Seyfried as porn star Linda Lovelace, who appeared in the crossover hit adult film Deep Throat.

“Just left the #LoveLace premiere and I have to say that it is the best film I’ve seen all year!” Hyland tweeted. “Thanks for inviting me @WeinsteinFilms!”

Weinstein Films likely wanted some exposure for Sarah Hyland, who will star in the studio’s upcoming movie Vampire Academy. The movie is based on the series of books by Richelle Mead, and Hyland will play the daughter of one of the school’s leaders.

The project has already assembled a cast of young stars, including Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Danila Kozlovsky.

Scheduled for a February 14, 2014, opening, the movie tells the story of two friends who attend a strict school for vampires. There Hyland and her friend “battle the mysterious forces of the evil Moroi who are set on destroying the Princess’s bloodline,” the studio notes.

This week Hyland dropped some news about the movie, promising a Vampire Academy trailer sometime this month.

Though she’s starting to branch out into more Hollywood roles, Sarah Hyland still has a hit in Modern Family. The show will premiere its fifth season on September 25.

California Woman Loses Limbs, So John Stamos Takes Her On Disneyland Date

John Stamos Instagram

John Stamos is one heck of a guy. The 49-year-old Full House star is taking an ill fan on a date to Disneyland.

Stamos shared of photo of himself and 19-year-old Kaitlyn Dobrow on Tuesday, with the caption: “I’m ONLY doing this cause they asked. I said no press. But this story is a must read — plus me and katie have a date to Disneyland.”

Dobrow recently suffered from a bacterial infection. Though she survived, she lost all of her limbs.

To spread awareness of her story, Stamos also shared an article from the New York Daily News about Dobrow’s battle with meningococcemia, the bacterial infection that cost the young woman her arms and legs.

She was admitted to UC Irvine Medical Center in February, and has undergone 12 surgeries during her stay. In addition to limb amputations, she has also received skin grafts to help fight the infection.

Her family said that it hasn’t been easy for Dobrow to watch bacterial infection raze her body, but that she has somehow managed to keep her spirits up regardless.

“Initially, she cried when she learned about her limbs,” her father said. “But the following day she said this is something I’ll find a way to make work, and joked, ‘Who needs a left arm anyway?’”

No word on when Dobrow’s Disneyland date with John Stamos will be, but we have to hand both the actor and his young date some applause. Anyone who manages to keep their spirits high after losing all of their limbs to bacterial infection deserves to go to Disneyland.

Cote De Pablo Is Still Leaving NCIS, But Her Character Won’t Die

NCIS Ziva

Cote de Pablo disappointed NCIS fans around the world when she announced her departure from the hit series. However, showrunners insist that they have no intention of killing off her character.

Executive producer Gary Glasberg told the folks at TVLine that Ziva won’t take a dirt nap when she bids farewell to the show. This could leave the door wide open for de Pablo to return down the road.

“It’s not what this character deserves. Also, [we killed off] Sasha Alexander’s Kate character [back in Season 2] and I like the idea of doing this one a little different and respecting who [Ziva] is,” Glasberg told the website.

The executive producer also stated that fans of the character will get a little insight into why Ziva is leaving in the two-part season premiere this September.

Cote de Pablo announced that she was parting ways with the series last month. The actress said that her decision wasn’t one that came easily.

“I feel like I am leaving my family. What I want to say most of all is thank you to the fans and to the people who have been so supportive of me and of the show, who have made the show the great success that it is,” she said in a statement.

Despite their best efforts, the suits at CBS couldn’t get Cote de Pablo to stick around. CEO Les Moonves said the network threw a stack of cash at the actress in hopes of changing her mind. At the end of the day, even a fat paycheck couldn’t reverse her decision.

“We offered Cote de Pablo a lot of money, and then we offered her even more money. We didn’t want to lose her. We obviously were in discussions. Ultimately, she decided she didn’t want to do the show. We did everything humanly possible [to keep her],” he explained.

Sandlot ‘Smalls’ Actor Arrested For Allegedly Headbutting A Cop

sandlot smalls mugshot

The Sandlot’s “Scotty Smalls,” also known as actor Tom Guiry, has been arrested for an alleged drunken airport incident in which police say he headbutted a cop.

TMZ got the details on Guiry’s arrest, replete with a mugshot in which “Smalls” looks scarily different from his Sandlot days.

According to the site, the Sandlot actor was reportedly told he was too intoxicated to fly… and got a bit mouthy.

Guiry is said to have been angered by the suggestion, and allegedly did not take kindly to being asked to sleep it off:

“The story is crazy. We’re told Guiry was at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston over the weekend when a United Airlines employee concluded he was too drunk to fly… Law enforcement sources tell us, the employee contacted an airport cop, who approached Guiry and gave him two options: a public intoxication arrest, or the drunk tank.”

It was then, TMZ claims, Guiry scuffled with the cop and headbutted an officer before he was arrested.

The Sandlot’s Smalls was then reportedly booked and charged with felony assault on a cop, and posted $5,000 bail.

Earlier this year, the actor gave an interview to HuffPo, in which he says he gets recognized as “Smalls” a few times a day at work.

He explained:

“I work in a hospital as a patient transporter to make ends meet for my three kids. I think about four or five times a day, I have someone say that to me. Where I work is the town I grew up in, I’m more recognized here than in other places. But, a lot of my friends call me Smalls, I go by it. I’ve come to kind of embrace it. If you can’t beat ‘em, just join ‘em, you know?”

Following the arrest, Guiry did not comment on the incident.
