Charlie Sheen has checked into rehab.
The ‘Two and a Half Men’ star, who is currently facing charges following allegations he attacked wife Brooke Mueller on Christmas Day, December 25, entered an undisclosed treatment center yesterday, February 23, his representative confirmed.
A statement said, “As a preventative measure, Charlie Sheen has entered a rehabilitation facility.
“He will take some time off his series ‘Two and a Half Men.’ He has asked that his privacy be honored. No further statements are planned.”
Filming on ‘Two and a Half Men’ will be “temporarily suspended” and CBS, the network who produce the comedy, wish Sheen “nothing but the best as he deals with this personal matter”.
The news comes just days after it was revealed Sheen had been visited by child protection services on Sunday, February 21.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) dropped by the family home he shares with Mueller to check up on their 11-month-old twin sons Bob and Max following his December arrest.
The 44-year-old actor was arrested over domestic violence allegations, and was charged with a felony and two misdemeanours. He is expected to plead not guilty when he returns to a Colorado court next month.
While Sheen enters rehab, real estate investor Mueller quit her facility over an alleged breach of privacy.
The 31-year-old beauty, who had been staying at The Canyon rehabilitation centre in Malibu for substance abuse treatment, left after a staff member allegedly tried to passed confidential patient admissions documents onto the media.
She is now in another rehab center receiving treatment.
